Above the Great Dao-Chapter 1421 - 662: Buddha Country (2)
At this ferry, there is only one divine being guarding the place, with white hair and an aged appearance, leaning on a hook and scythe spear while sitting on the wharf. Several monks nearby are also waiting.
The old god, upon seeing the Star Shuttle approaching, lifted the hook and scythe to latch onto the Star Shuttle, bringing it closer to the dock.
The boatman jumped to the shore, offered the old god several sticks of incense, and said, "Thank you, Dao brother." He also handed him some money.
The old god accepted the incense, crushed the money in his hand, and a surge of extraordinary power burst forth from it, invigorating him greatly.
A deity like him, were it not for guarding a transportation hub like this ferry, would have long been forgotten by the world, his divine power dissipated, and faded away with age. The boatman, possessing considerable strength himself, offering incense to him could be seen as extending his life.
In the Earth Immortal Realm, the currency in circulation is known as Heavenly Yuan Notes, forged by the gods of the Finance Department with extraordinary power, and widely circulated. Even immortals, when trading goods, would use this currency. Any immortal attempting to counterfeit Heavenly Yuan Notes would face immense trouble, making it unprofitable.
The group disembarked from the Star Shuttle. The boatman instructed, "My boat comes here once a month, the next time being in one month. If you wish to return, remember to come to the ferry in advance, as we won’t wait past the time."
The Star Shuttle then departed on its own.
Chen Shi looked around and saw that the ferry was located on a branch of the Heavenly River, which flowed over a world, forming a brilliant star river for that world.
Standing within that world and looking towards the sky, one could see a galaxy hanging in the night sky.
The group proceeded along the branch of the Heavenly River towards that world, their glowing figures in the night sky resembled slowly moving stars.
After two or three days, they finally arrived above the World of Wu Fang.
The monks did not rush into the World of Wu Fang. Instead, they each paused; some sat cross-legged and chanted Buddhist Law a few times, while others burned incense, invited out statues of Bodhisattvas or Buddhas, and silently recited.
Once their bodies radiated with bright Buddha light, they stood up and flew into the World of Wu Fang one after another.
Chen Shi, not understanding any of this, stood by the side.
The old monk also didn’t understand, standing constrainedly beside Chen Shi, only Zhong Wuwang muttering Buddhist True Words to bless the two with Buddha light.
His proficiency in Buddhist Law was exceedingly high, surpassing that of the previous monks. As he continued chanting, a miraculous scene of heavenly music and flowers formed around Chen Shi and the old monk.
Chen Shi looked towards the Buddha light behind his head, within which appeared Buddhas sitting cross-legged, their chanting voices melodious and pleasant.
"Dao brother, why do you not bestow a blessing of Buddhist Law?" Chen Shi asked the old monk.
The old monk truthfully replied, "I do not know how."
Chen Shi was taken aback, wondering why Zhong Wuwang, his disciple, could, but he could not.
The old monk explained, "I was originally a demon cultivator; my abilities were not gained through cultivating Buddhist Law. I am a Golden-winged Roc, born with Yin and Yang Qi within me. As my body grew, the energies became stronger. From them, I comprehended the mysteries of cultivation, but without a teacher, I had to figure it out myself."
Chen Shi praised, "Dao brother’s self-taught skills make you a natural Great Divine Power User! Could you perhaps possess the Roc bloodline?"
He sincerely admired how, with natural talent alone, one could cultivate to the level of Taiyi Golden Immortal; such bloodline talent was indeed formidable!
The old monk replied, "I am a Golden-winged Roc, not a Roc, just a young Eagle. My Bloodline Power is indeed quite remarkable. Just upon reaching adulthood, I could compete with the heroes of the world."
He sighed, shaking his head, "But later, others had teachers and cultivation techniques, whereas I had to explore on my own, and gradually could not keep up. Though Ling Mountain may be good, I could not cultivate Buddhist Law. Fortunately, I took on a good disciple, who has taught me many things."
He was very pleased with Zhong Wuwang.
After Zhong Wuwang blessed them with Buddhist Law, the three of them also rose and flew into the World of Wu Fang.
Just after entering the World of Wu Fang, Chen Shi sensed an indescribable aura permeating the world, decay, corruption, along with endless resentment.
This resentment was so potent that even he was impulsed to turn around and leave immediately!
"This is the resentment formed by the lives lost in this world."
The old monk explained, "Resentment combined with tribulation turns this area into a perilous land. Monks from the Western Heaven, once accomplished, come here to train, to test the Buddhist Law they have learned and understood."
This time, they came to Wu Fang to help Zhong Wuwang validate his Buddhist Law. Because Wu Fang was too dangerous, the old monk tagged along, uneasy about it.
Zhong Wuwang was already in the True Immortal Realm, at the Second Layer Heaven of the Dao Realm. His venture to Wu Fang was to break through to the Third Layer.
Chen Shi floated in mid-air and looked downward, observing the World of Wu Fang appearing quite dim, but within the gloom, points of light glimmered, likely monks from the Western Heaven training here.
He roughly counted, seeing hundreds of points of light.
Suddenly, one of the lights went out, causing Chen Shi to take a second glance.
The old monk said, "It probably means their Buddhist Law was inadequate, and they were instead corroded by resentment and have passed away."
Chen Shi felt a chill.
Zhong Wuwang identified a place with deep resentment and tribulation to descend, and as they neared the ground, all the resentment and tribulation in the world suddenly vanished, the sky returned to clear clarity, and the land and mountains became lush and green again.
Chen Shi looked around and realized they had descended outside a town, where many children played at the outskirts, their hair bouncing as they ran, their cheerful voices reaching their ears.
By the riverside, water flowed gently, and women were washing clothes, the sound of beating clothes reverberating.
Chen Shi walked along with the two monks, passing by, when a cow cart came from behind, brushing past them, with several women and children from the countryside going to the town market. A curious girl sat on the cart, inquisitively observing them, seemingly very curious about their identities.
