Chapter 89: Anonymous House (8)

In response to Kyria’s swift projectile, Alex enveloped her wound in unfamiliar pitch-black darkness. It sealed her bleeding and left her skin fully healed, as though she’d never been injured in the first place. She then rushed at him in an unpredictable manner, thanks to her Capoeira style, both impressing and baffling onlookers alike.

From where would she attack? Would she use her long legs or her hands? Would she plant her hands on the ground and perform a crescent sweep, or acrobatically close the distance and drive her entire weight into her opponent with a palm strike?

Those questions whirled through Kyria’s mind. Normally, it might have taken him some time to deal with a pure melee threat, but now he used his hands in a manner that best expressed his personality and style.

He fired red lightning bullets at his foe, restricting Alex’s options, then retreated with his lightning movement skill. While in motion, he strafed, launching additional bullets with every step.

His reaction time had increased tenfold, making it a challenge just to enter his melee range. To avoid suffering heavy damage, Alex had to destroy or evade his bullets, buying Kyria more time.

All around him, icy tracks worked in his favor, granting him beneficial buffs and letting him freely change positions.

Catching him through ordinary means became impossible, so Alex used a movement skill to leap at him. This, however, did not deter Kyria; he held his hands as though they were pistols, using the recoil of his long-range attacks to create more distance between himself and Alex. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

He was nothing short of amazing.

This transformation startled not only Alex but also Blake, who was observing from the sidelines. He recalled her words about Kyria’s dissatisfaction with himself. She must have sensed it in his fighting style.

Since Kyria had accepted her words and stayed true to himself, there was likely at least a grain of truth in her remarks about him.

’What’s that? What am I not content with?’ Blake wondered.

Initially, he assumed it had to do with his katana. He still hadn’t discovered an element that could transform his second katana into a potent PvP weapon—one that would make him an even greater menace than his past self.

Though it might be an exaggeration to think a low-level item could make him stronger than Cerberus’ leader, Blake still wanted an element akin to his Pride, something he could always rely on for crafting PvE weapons and armor.

Just then, Sol’s dragon husk heated up. The little one had been clinging to Blake like glue, but now he acted on his own. His temperature soared, and a shimmering haze formed around him.

White slits appeared in his golden eyes, giving them a distinctly draconic look. He glared straight ahead and tried to fly, though it was difficult with so much power seething inside him.

Sol belched, spitting forth a miniature White Sun. It hurtled to the ground and erupted into white flames that devoured everything and everyone within range. For a moment, the Ice Prison resembled a blank canvas, as if the three players inside had vanished.

When the flames subsided, all three were still in defensive positions.

Alex had used most of her dark mana to protect her upper body, covering her face with darkened arms. Her armor had melted in several places, and her darkened skin was visibly cracked.

Kyria had taken the brunt of the explosion on his back; his vest and rear armor were completely melted, leaving his back reddened and scorched.

Blake had thrust his left hand forward and shielded his face with his right forearm. His armor had failed to withstand Sol’s White Flames, leaving his arms exposed and burned. His katana had only lost a few durability points.

Meanwhile, Sol curled up at the center of the battlefield and fell asleep.

While Blake hoped Sol’s action had deeper meaning, there was a chance the dragon was just frustrated or disappointed and decided to take matters into his own hands. But if Sol intended to convey some message, what could it be?

’I’m terrible at this!’ Blake lamented.

He was always so straightforward because he was bad at reading people’s moods and emotions. During the beta-test days, he hadn’t considered his guild members’ feelings and had forced his own ideas on them.

How could he possibly decipher Sol’s intentions if there were any?

While he pondered that, Alex made her move. She ignored Blake and Kyria, instead flashing over to Sol’s sleeping form and scooping him up. Although he was extremely hot, she immediately used her unique withering power on his dragon husk to replenish her health.

That was why she broke into his cockpit in the blink of an eye, tracing the source of Sol’s existence. Her withering power flowed toward Sol, drawn to his essence. That was when she realized that Sol possessed infinite health points.

In other words, if she kept him close, she could also have infinite health!

"Mmm... I really want you, little one. I must steal you from your owner," Alex whispered in a coquettish voice that could make any man yield to her will.

A cold wave washed over her then.

For a moment, she wondered if someone had cast an ice skill on her. She saw no debuff icons on her avatar or in the system, so that couldn’t be it. Something compelled her to look up, and there she saw a man in white demon skin glaring down at her with hawklike eyes so piercingly blue they resembled Absolute Zero.

Alex often read people by studying their combat or dance skills. She had even gleaned Supreme Blade’s honesty, naïveté, and intensely competitive spirit—enough to know the qualities he lacked.

But for the first time, a single look into someone’s eyes made her question everything: her choices, her position, her very being. This was unlike anything one could observe on a screen or read about.

"You want my baby boy?" he asked.

"...I do," she replied, hesitant. "He’s so adorable..."

"Die."
