Chapter 441: Chapter 50 Whether Human or Demon

Watching a Bird Demon feast upon its comrade, a few ’Demon’ were petrified with fear, all staring blankly with faces full of terror.

A few Sheep Headmen and Bull-men were slightly better off, after all, they had received promises from Ying Baiyu that they could probably survive.

But the pig-headed man was trembling terribly, all of his fat quivering from the shaking.

Ying Baiyu hadn’t forgotten him, though. While casually wiping the fresh blood from his hands, he asked the pig-headed man, "And you? What about you? Don’t tell me you’re an ordinary farmer who has run away from rent?"

Before the pig-headed man could speak, a few Bull-men and Sheep Headmen spoke up first.

"Reporting to Your Majesty, this man is the village chief of the Zhu Family’s Manor, he came to capture us and take us back to pay the rent."

Ying Baiyu’s gaze upon the pig-headed man flashed with a hint of ferocity as he ground his teeth and said, "What I hate the most are you bully’s lapdogs, haha, well, this will serve as an extra meal for the brothers today!"

The pig-headed man begged for mercy in panic, "Your Majesty, spare my life, I was just following orders."

"A fine ’following orders,’ as the saying goes, ’accept the king’s shilling, share the king’s sorrows.’ Since you have taken the manor owner’s food and silver coin, your life should be left behind."

With that said, he reached out his hand and grabbed a long knife, bringing it down with a chop to the pig-headed man’s head.

Spurt!

With just one slash, the pig-headed man was cleaved alive into two halves.

The noise here immediately caught the attention of a Bird Demon; the pig-headed man’s life was full of fat, much more than that Eagle Demon in flesh.

Ying Baiyu said indifferently, "What are you still standing around for, this one is much fatter than the big eagle, brothers, have a feast today."

"Haha, His Majesty still cares about us."

"What are you waiting for—quack!"

The Demons immediately rushed forward and began to Bite at the pig-headed man’s corpse.

For these demons, whether other demons, beasts, or even the villagers outside, they were all just food.

Ying Baiyu then said to the few farmers who were terrified, "You few, leave quickly, while they have not finished eating, unless you want to stay and join the fray."

The people quickly fled upon hearing this.

A Crow Spirit watched the fleeing figures swallowing saliva, but presented the pig head as if it were a treasure, "Your Majesty, won’t you eat some? This pork is fat and tender, perfect for accompanying a drink."

Ying Baiyu, however, snorted in disgust, "You eat it. Don’t bother with those farmers anymore." With a flap of his wings, he flew back up.

The Crow Spirit let out a series of strange caws, whether out of anger or fear, as a Bone-eating Demon Bird suddenly swooped down, snatched the pig head in its beak and took off. The Crow Spirit hurriedly chased after it to snatch it back, causing another commotion.

Xiao Jie naturally didn’t join in the scramble for food; he observed the whole scene, feeling a stir in his heart, thinking that Ying Baiyu hadn’t completely turned evil, but staying among these demons, it was probably only a matter of time. Just right, today he would offer him a way out.

With a Flying Cloud Chasing Moon, Xiao Jie flapping his wings, flew into the Eagle’s nest.

With a flip, he landed at the edge of the nest; looking down, the nest resembled the shape of a bird’s nest, but the top was much more spacious with a roof and a floor made of wooden planks, and there were even tables and chairs along the wall—simple, but complete.

It seemed that even though Ying Baiyu had become a demon, he could not shed his human habits.

At this moment, Ying Baiyu was standing at the edge of the nest, staring into the distance, lost in thought.

Following Ying Baiyu’s gaze, Xiao Jie looked far into the southeast, where he could faintly see the towering canopy of the giant tree in Jumu City.

Xiao Jie thought that Ying Baiyu seemed to still long for the days he had served in the Heavenly Feather Army, quite different from the other demons, and that gave him more confidence in his attempt to coax Ying Baiyu to his side.

His mind then recalled the background information he had read about Ying Baiyu before.

Ying Baiyu was originally a Canglin Tianyu Army Captain. After failing to subdue Mountain Demons, he was dismissed and sent home, only to find his ancestral home occupied by local tyrants, and his father had died after fighting with the tyrants. In a rage, Ying Baiyu killed the tyrant and fled into the Three Forests, transforming into a demon...

It reminded him of a plot from a certain movie.

As he was contemplating, Ying Baiyu suddenly said coldly, "Without my order, how dare you come up here? Have you grown tired of living?"

"I saw Your Majesty hadn’t eaten, so I came to bring you some food." Saying this, he right-clicked the Secret Dog Food in his bag and chose to give.

Suddenly, a meatball appeared in Ying Baiyu’s hand.

"What is this?"

"Your Majesty need not worry, this is not human flesh; it is made of deer meat, mutton, and Wild Boar Meat, and it’s made from ordinary beasts, not demon flesh."

"Hmph, even if it were demon flesh, it’s not like I haven’t eaten it before." He said harshly but still couldn’t help biting into it.

Upon tasting it, Ying Baiyu’s eyes lit up, "The flavor is good, you’re thoughtful—by the way, why haven’t I seen you before?"

"I am new here. Hearing of Your Majesty’s heroic deeds, I came to join your ranks. I despise that Master Xiao Yue for failing to recognize a hero, and letting a hero bleed and weep in vain."

Ying Baiyu said displeased, "Hold your tongue. Do not speak ill of Master Xiao Yue."

Xiao Jie deliberately expressed surprise, "Why does Your Majesty say this? If it weren’t for Master Xiao Yue, how would Your Majesty have come to this?"

"Hmph, what do you know? This has nothing to do with the True Man; it is the wrongdoing of the local tyrants. The True Man issued the bounty out of necessity, as he has to consider its impact. I did kill someone and became a demon, after all. If he didn’t make a show of it, others would surely accuse the True Man of sheltering a former comrade. Such things, that bunch could definitely do."
