Chapter 1495: Thunderclap Tree Passage

As Li Luo's squad rushed towards Thunder Finger Peak, the sounds of thunder boomed in their ears and they could see thunder energy blanketing the skies and covering the earth before them. He carefully observed the environment ahead, noticing that there were countless tall, silver trees dotting the mountain. These trees were anything but ordinary, crackling with silver lightning and occasionally letting out rumbling booms. Amongst the silver trees were several passages that led into the depths and peak of Thunder Finger Peak.

The other peak squads similarly rushed onto Thunder Finger Peak. The majority of them had leaders with thunder resonances or something with a similar affinity. When they entered, they immediately chose a passageway and rushed in to save on time.

However when they reached the passageways, the thunder trees rumbled and streaks of silver thunderbolts flooded towards them with fearsome momentum.

When faced with the bombardment of silver thunderbolts, the numerous squads had their progress forcibly slowed down.

Some of the experts trusted in their strength and attempted to fly over the trees. However, there were dense thunderclouds above the mountain, and they released bolts of thunder that were even more terrifying, critically injuring the arrogant sons who attempted to bypass the trials.

It was clear for all to see that the only way to ascend to the peak was to follow the rules and take one of the land-bound paths to the end.

Li Luo even saw Fang Xingyun amongst one of the squads attempting to climb Thunder Finger Peak. He possessed a Thunder Dragon resonance, so it was no surprise he had chosen this mountain. Zhou Jun's squad was the fastest around. He utilized his upper eighth-grade Duke strength, and his eight Duke Bergfrieds flashed with lightning of their own, blocking off the silver thunderbolts that attempted to stop him.

Li Luo didn't hesitate either. After some close observation, he took the lead and three Ten-Pillar Golden Duke Bergfrieds appeared above him, pouring out Divine Mist and forming a barrier that smashed apart any thunderbolts that attempted to harm him.

Occasionally, a stray thunderbolt would penetrate through his defenses, but an instant later, tyrannical frost resonant power would sweep over, freezing the thunderbolt before it crashed onto the ground, breaking into tiny brittle pieces of ice. Unsurprisingly, it was Lu Qing'er who took action. Her two icy Ten-Pillar Golden Duke Bergfrieds flowed with a frigid aura that seemed capable of freezing anything and everything.

As a second-grade Transcendent, she was second only to Li Luo in their squad. In terms of battle power, even sixth-grade Dukes were unable to harm her. Most importantly, she possessed the Permafrost Sacred Seed, a trump card with literally unimaginable power. Thus, with the two perfectly cooperating with each other, the deluge of silver thunderbolts posed no hindrance as the squad progressed forward.

That said, Li Luo didn't dare let down his guard. He understood that this was just the outer region of Thunder Finger Peak and that as they approached the top, the thunder energy would become more and more terrifying.

Amongst the thunderclaps, Chi Chan said, "Li Luo, if you feel that it's getting difficult to progress later on, you don't need to mind us. With our strength, just being able to enter the thirty-first layer means that we have completed our mission perfectly."

Mi Er and Cao Sheng nodded in agreement. If they had not managed to breakthrough previously, they wouldn't even have had the right to enter the thirty-first layer. Additionally, they were simply trying to hold on. If they had to resist the thunderbolts on their own, they would've been seriously injured within just ten strikes.

Li Luo flashed a confident smile when he heard their words. "You can relax, Mentors. If I truly can't hold on, I won't force you to stay."

Based on the rules, all members of the squads who reached the Mirror Altar would receive a portion of the benefits, though the one who reached the top first would come out with the best reward. Thus, Li Luo wanted to see if he could help Chi Chan and the rest obtain a share of the pie. Of course, if the situation turned south, he wouldn't force things.

A trace of emotion flickered through Chi Chan's spirited eyes. Ever since they arrived at the Celestial Mirror Pagoda, Li Luo had tried his best to provide her with his protection and assistance. Without him, it wouldn't have been a question about even getting opportunities, and she might have been taken away by Chi Li! The reason for all of this was because of the seed planted all those years ago in the Astral Sage College. The youth she had once protected had flowered into a colossal tree that was capable of sheltering her.

"Li Luo is someone who cares alot about his relationships. Mentor Chi Chan, you have indeed taught a wonderful student." Mentor Cao Sheng gave an envious smile. They had, without a doubt, benefited from being associated with her.

Lu Qing'er then glared at him with her icy blue eyes. "Mentor Cao Sheng, are you implying that I, your student, have not been filial?"

Cao Sheng's ruddy smile froze and he hurriedly replied, "How could that be possible? On the contrary, I don't need you to express any filial piety to me. Instead, I can't wait to express my respect to you as the little ancestor I dote upon!"

"And then you'll hope that Qing'er will put in a good word for you in front of her mother, is that right?" Mi Er smirked.

Everyone present was well aware of the fact that Cao Sheng had once tried to pursue President Yu and still had feelings for her to this day.

In fact, there were countless Dukes in the Xia Kingdom who secretly nicknamed him as President Yu's number one bootlicker.

Cao Sheng's expression turned green as he angrily rebuked, "I am doing it because I care about her from the depths of my heart!"

Lu Qing'er couldn't help but to smile slightly despite her usually cold expression. It was at this point that she felt a gaze directed towards her. When she raised her head, she found out that she was looking right into Li Luo's eyes.

He grinned. "Qing'er, when you act this way, I am reminded of the past."

She looked straight at him as she flatly replied, "How does what how you feel hinge on what I do?"

Li Luo paused.

This was met with a cold snort, and she contemptuously said, "If you don't dare to do it, then don't flirt with me."

Li Luo felt a little helpless. He was just concerned as a friend, so why did she have to go so far to criticize him? He knew how Lu Qing'er felt about him, but his heart and body already belonged to Jiang Qing'e...

How could he dare to make a move on her? Thus, he quickly turned his head, focusing on the deluge of silver thunderbolts ahead. When Lu Qing'er saw his reaction, her fist subconsciously clenched and her gaze regained its usual iciness. The rest of the squad quietly watched the show with complicated expressions and thoughts. They had no intention of getting involved; they would let the youths settle it on their own.

The Thunderclap Tree passageway was extremely long and winding and the barrage of silver thunderbolts was endless. In order to preserve their strength, people began to take turns defending.

Li Luo was no exception, taking turns with Lu Qing'er and taking the downtime to quickly recuperate as much as possible to maintain his strength as no one knew just what sort of trials lay ahead.

At some point two hours later...

The Thunderclap Tree passage came to an end. The group was full of smiles. They swiftly picked up the pace and rushed out of the gruelling path.

The silver thunderbolts that had filled their eyes were finally gone.

However, just as the squads that had completed the Thunderclap Tree passage were about to sigh in relief, they saw Thunder Beasts emerge from the forest, slopes, and valleys.

The Thunder Beasts were all golden in color and thunder energy danced across their pelts. It was as though they were made of golden thunderbolts and had been given life! Each and every Thunder Beast gave off berserk and violent fluctuations of thunder energy, each one of them comparable to a sixth-grade Duke!

All of the squads felt their scalps turn numb.

It seemed that the difficulty of the Celestial Mirror Martial Exchange was simply too cruel!
