Abyss Descension: I Perform Rituals to Evolve In The Apocalyps-Chapter 64: Decision
"Form up!" Lena barked, spear thrusting forward to meet the poison Revenant’s attack. The green tendrils whipped toward her like snakes, but she spun, the spear slicing through the mist, scattering it in sickly clouds.
Sidhu fired rapid shots at the lightning Revenant, each bullet sparking against its electrified skin. The beast snarled, charging forward with a violent crackle, lightning arcs leaping toward him.
Kev stepped forward, shadows flickering at his fingertips. With a sharp motion, he summoned blades of darkness that danced like living vipers, striking the lightning Revenant’s limbs. The beast shrieked as the shadows absorbed and redirected the electricity, short-circuiting its attacks.
Meanwhile, Parvi took aim at the sand Revenant cyclone. Her crossbow bolt pierced a thin gap in its swirling form, and the creature momentarily faltered. Kev’s shadow chains whipped out, binding the creature, pulling it off balance. It roared in frustration, hurling bone shards at them like missiles.
The frost Revenant advanced, claws dripping with icicles that shimmered deadly in the fading light. Its breath hissed, coating the ground in frost that crept like creeping spiders toward their feet.
Kev raised a shield of swirling shadows, absorbing the shards of ice and sending a shockwave that cracked the frost into harmless glittering dust.
Kev’s breath hitched. The battle was relentless, each Revenant pressing its unique elemental terror against them. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
He felt the shadows surge, hungry for release. The whispers grew louder in his mind.
Use me... Become the night... Become the shadow...
Kev clenched his fists, willing himself to hold on.
The lightning Revenant lunged again, faster this time, its fists crackling with violet fire. Sidhu dodged, firing desperately, but the beast was relentless. Kev summoned a swirling vortex of shadows that pulled at the creature’s limbs, slowing it, twisting it in a dark embrace. With a scream of fury, Kev drove a shadow dagger deep into the creature’s glowing core.
The beast convulsed, sparks flying, then collapsed in a smoking heap.
The poison Revenant hissed and lunged at Lena, tendrils whipping. She blocked with her spear, the venomous mist sizzling against the metal. Kev’s shadow blades darted forward, slashing through the mist, severing tendrils with swift precision. With a roar, he drove a shadow spear into the creature’s nucleus. It howled, then dissolved into a green cloud that dissipated harmlessly.
The sand Revenant spun faster, hurling bone shards in a deadly storm. Parvi dodged, firing bolt after bolt, but the creature was relentless. Kev wrapped it in shadow chains, tightening the grip until the beast struggled, trying to break free. With a final surge, Kev plunged a blade of darkness into its exposed core. The whirlwind shattered into dust.
The frost Revenant loomed, massive and cold, swinging a giant claw that sent shards of ice crashing down like razors. Kev met the strike with a shield of shadow that absorbed the blow, but the impact sent him staggering.
The creature snarled and lunged again, faster now.
Kev’s vision blurred, the darkness whispering promises of power and oblivion. He reached deep into the well of shadow within him, summoning tendrils that writhed like living smoke.
This time, the shadows were different. They moved with a will of their own, thickening and darkening until the world seemed to shrink beneath their weight.
With a guttural cry, Kev unleashed the full force of his shadow power.
The tendrils wrapped around the frost Revenant, binding it tight. The cold seemed to battle against the shadows, frost cracking and melting where darkness touched.
Kev’s hand shot forward, plunging a spear of living shadow straight into the glowing nucleus.
The creature roared, ice shattering like glass as it collapsed in a heap of shards and frozen mist.
The battle over, the group gathered breathlessly amid the ruins. Kev sank to his knees, shadows retreating reluctantly from his exhausted limbs.
"You pushed too hard," Lena said softly, kneeling beside him.
"If I don’t..." Kev’s voice broke. "We all die."
Agatha placed a steadying hand on his shoulder. "You’re not alone."
The group’s quiet solidarity was a fragile light against the creeping dark.
They moved on, limping through the shattered streets, the weight of the day’s fight heavy on their bodies and minds.
"Do you think we’ll find others?" Parvi asked, voice barely audible.
Kev looked up at the bleak horizon. "We have to believe we will."
Doctor Bell scanned the ruins for supplies and shelter, his face tight with worry. "Every day out here is a fight. But maybe... maybe there’s still hope."
Sidhu cleaned his pistol silently, eyes flicking to the gathering shadows.
Lena tightened her grip on her spear. "We keep moving. No matter what."
Night fell like a shroud, swallowing the ruined city in darkness. The shadows curled around them, whispering and waiting.
Kev’s power pulsed faintly beneath his skin, a reminder of the dangerous ally within.
Together, they walked into the endless night — survivors bound by hope, shadow, and steel — ready to face whatever monsters awaited in the darkness ahead.
The night’s cold seeped into their bones as Kev and his group pressed on, the ruined city sprawling endlessly before them like a scarred corpse. The silence was oppressive, broken only by the crunch of shattered glass beneath their boots and the distant moan of the wind funneling through hollowed-out buildings. Shadows danced across broken walls and fractured pavement, a constant reminder that danger lurked just beyond the edge of sight.
Each step forward was a small victory over the creeping dread that threatened to choke them. Kev felt it gnawing at his soul — the isolation, the endless decay, the persistent whisper of shadows inside him, always hungry. But he pushed it down, focusing on the group.
Lena walked at his side, spear at the ready, her eyes sharp and unyielding. Agatha moved like a ghost, her bow silent but deadly, scanning every rooftop and alleyway. Sidhu carried his pistol with the ease of a man who had used it too often. Parvi’s crossbow was balanced perfectly in her hands, calm and precise. Doctor Bell bore the weight of the medkit and their dwindling supplies, his furrowed brow a map of exhaustion.
