Abyss Draconis-Chapter 525: Failing The Test

This time, it was the abyssal’s turn to take a step backward as it shifted to the side three times before coming to a stop.

Instead of anger, the grin grew even wider as its core suddenly undulated with a golden light phantom.

It proceeded to cover an area beneath its armpit and below, and in the next instant, Ryuk watched as the golden aura congregated together to form four massive golden-colored arms ending in ginormous claws—identical replicas of its normal hands, except golden in color instead.

But it didn’t end there.

It watched as the golden aura continued down to its feet, enveloping them with light, as golden cracks brimming with energy appeared all over the creature’s legs.

Ryuk observed the transformation with his eyes, his body remaining in the same stance.

’A transformation ability that increases his energy wave by three times...’ he thought to himself as he watched the creature seemingly disappear into the void to appear before him.

This time, it wasn’t just a claw that blasted out towards Ryuk. It was a total of three that reached for him, and then, three more followed behind a second later.

"Ahhhh," Ryuk inhaled a sharp breath of air as his eyes flashed with light, and instantly, both his arms moved out.

SLAAAPPPPPP

BOOOOOOOOM

To the heavy claws, Ryuk responded by stretching both arms, and his palms gently made contact with the hands before they were brushed off to the side with their own force.

Without wasting a second more, the hand immediately moved to the secpnd approaching claw, while Ryuk’s second hand moved toward the third claw, redirecting it too.

It took time to explain, but both fighters’ hands had turned into a blur by how fast they were moving.

Ryuk’s twin hands had become six, moving about in the air like tiny threads—smoothly, easily—his expression never once betraying the slightest ripple of emotion.

The Abyssal creature noticed Ryuk blocking and tried to retaliate, responding by increasing its speed and power even more, hoping to overwhelm him.

But after more than a minute and hundreds of claw slashes...

It still failed to land a single attack on Ryuk. It was almost like increasing its speed would result in Ryuk also increasing his, just enough to match.

Realizing that, it suddenly jumped backward for a meter before its pillar-like leg instantly kicked towards Ryuk.

’I expected that...’ Ryuk thought silently as he fluidly shifted to the side, the blast soaring behind him, but suddenly, the abyssal rotated in motion, swinging the leg toward the side, the power enough to send his hair flaying all over.

But it was like Ryuk had also expected that as his motion shifted from moving to the side, to going down as the kick barely waved past him.

Its back was now fully revealed when its strike failed, a perfect chance to retaliate, but then Ryuk only smiled, choosing to hold his stance instead.

A split second later, the abyssal delivered a back kick, with incredible speed, reaching for Ryuk.

But then it never connected, as it paused just an inch from Ryuk’s face, its entire length exhaused before it was taken back.

THUUUUMP

THHUUUMP

The Abyssal creature took heavy steps as it turned to face Ryuk, its six huge arms resting by its sides, staring intensely at his battle stance before suddenly, golden light bloomed at the core of its chest.

Ryuk’s eyebrows knitted as he noticed a golden flash laced with runic lines appear in the creature’s golden pupils.

It suddenly shifted into the same exact form as Ryuk himself, both its arms stretching downwards.

"Imitation? How good is it, though?" Ryuk muttered as he took the first step and slammed out a palm toward the abyssal’s head.

But then, one of its arms threw forth, redirecting Ryuk’s punch, and the other slashed toward his head, swinging down.

Ryuk tilted his neck back, dodging the slash by an inch from his nose, before his other palm pierced forward once more. But then...

CLASSSSPPPP

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

The palm was instantly met with a grab by two of its large arms. Ryuk tried to jerk back his hand, but it stubbornly held firm.

Immediately, the Abyssal creature shifted from Ryuk’s taichi-informed pose into a full standing form as it grinned mockingly at Ryuk.

A grin that says...

"Got you!"

Immediately, it raised two of its arms, clawing toward Ryuk from the side.

But then Ryuk’s body tilted forward toward its head instead of retreating, jerking backward for a few inched before...

BAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMM!

It slammed straight into the creature’s face, bending it backwards by more than a few centimeters amidst the sound of the face bones being cracked.

But then Ryuk’s eyes flashed when...

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP

He felt the three massive claws cleave through his body, ripping out a chunk of flesh

Even with the headbutt, the Abyssal creature was surprisingly adamant, continuing with its attack, undaunted.

Ryuk’s eyes flashed as he looked into the creature’s eyes, and he was about to move when he halted in its grasp.

Instead—and therefore—

BOOOOOOOOOM

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

Claw lacerations covered all of his body as the creature continued slashing with all six claws, left and right, delivering a massive amount of damage.

Ryuk watched his body drop, bit by bit—chunks of Nanites and flesh being shaved off.

But through it all, his head was raised, his eyes remained locked onto the creature’s eyes as he watched the golden light in them flaring up to a blinding level, its grin widening even more.

’Your Bodily Damage Has Exceeded Mass Level!’

The announcement suddenly rang through the space as Ryuk watched the abyssal pause in its step, the claws hanging mere inches from his absolutely battered body.

’You Have Failed The Test!’

’Damages will Now Be Corrected!’

The words sounded as Ryuk watched the scene before him suddenly shattered into countless glass pieces, before the entire world faded into deep darkness.

Yet the darkness only lasted for seconds before he opened his eyes to the sight of a blank white room once more.

Raising his hand to his body, he found it was without even the slightest bit of scarring, and even his clothes, which had already been torn to pieces from the test, were seemingly untouched at all.

When he turned his gaze up, he found a dark-haired man whose eyes remained locked onto the notepad hovering in the air before he turned his gaze to Ryuk.

Immediately, Ryuk watched his expression go from neutral to a smile as the man said:

"Welcome to the ranks, Adventurer. You’re now the 25th B-Rank Adventurer of the Adventurer’s Guild!"
