Abyss Sequence-Chapter 423 - 80: The Saint’s Trial
This was not an answer that would satisfy Julia. She remembered that when Suniya requested her, she promised to study science and technology diligently in the Blue Star courtyard and bring the knowledge back to Alfheim to improve the lives of the elves.
But now?
That little girl had gone wild playing on Blue Star!
So Julia requested Yan Luo, hoping that when they returned to Blue Star this time, they could take her along so she could give Suniya a piece of her mind, and then bring her back next time they returned to Alfheim.
Considering there were already so many elves on Blue Star, one more Julia wouldn't matter, so Yan Luo readily agreed.
At this moment, Sasa asked Julia, "Julia, what brings you to the Lord's Mansion? Is it because of the demon creatures?"
Julia was a ranger of the Lingge Corps and typically wouldn't visit the Lord's Mansion without a reason.
Upon hearing Sasa's question, Julia countered, "Did you encounter them on your way here? The demon creatures."
Indeed, it was because of that!
Sasa and Yan Luo exchanged glances and nodded, saying, "Yes, we were ambushed by a group of demon creatures on the way here, but we obliterated them all."
Julia's expression turned serious, "Our rangers have recently discovered that there are many demon creatures moving in groups in the Gass Forest. These groups include both herbivores and carnivores, which logically should not coexist. This is an abnormal phenomenon, and I submitted a report a few days ago. Today, I just wanted to come and check on the progress."
The Lingge Corps soldiers stationed in Gass City took orders from the Deputy Corps Commander, but the deputy's jurisdiction only covered military operations. If they wanted to investigate the anomalies in Gass Forest and apply for some equipment, they needed permission from the Lord's Mansion.
Even if the Lord's Mansion approved the action application, Julia wouldn't be the elf dispatched to investigate the abnormal behavior of the demon creatures in Gass Forest because she hadn't reached the master rank and wasn't allowed to participate in such high-risk actions alone.
Elves of master rank from the Lingge Corps would be sent to investigate the cause deep within Gass Forest, so Julia could accompany Yan Luo to Blue Star.
Upon entering the Lord's Mansion, Yan Luo and Sasa parted ways with Julia, as the two of them had to meet with the Lord of Gass City, while Julia was to inquire about the status of the action application on behalf of the rangers.
Visiting Yan Luo and Sasa, the Lord of Gass City naturally took their visit seriously.
An employee of the Lord's Mansion guided them to a reception room and asked them to wait a moment; the Lord would arrive shortly.
That "shortly" genuinely was quick.
They hadn't been seated long when the Lord of Gass City showed up.
"It's a rare visit from you two," the Lord teased Yan Luo and Sasa lightly.
Sasa smiled in response, "Lord, we need to trouble you again this time."
The exchange and study of the exchange students with Gass City were arranged by dedicated personnel from the Lord's Mansion, and Yan Luo and Sasa sought a meeting with the Lord for another matter.
"It's not another request for a letter of recommendation, is it?" the Lord of Gass City chuckled, sipped his tea, and asked.
Sasa laughed, "No, we would like you to introduce us to any of the elven sages. We have some questions we'd like to ask them."
The smile on the Lord of Gass City's face faded instantly, and he furrowed his brow, looking at Yan Luo and Sasa.
Yan Luo remained silent, and Sasa smiled, unfazed by the scrutinizing gaze of the Lord.
"Why do you need to see the sages?" The Lord of Gass City couldn't understand the intentions of these two before him.
Sasa softly replied, "Because we have learned the reason for the birth of the Evil God and the method to deal with it, and we want to discuss it with the sages."
Like a bolt from the blue, the Lord of Gass City was stunned and stayed silent for quite some time.
After a while, with a heavy heart, the Lord of Gass City sighed and said, "If you want to communicate with the sages, it's not impossible, but both of them have refused to meet any elves; you'll have to pass the test they've set up."
It turned out that both sages of Alfheim had already relinquished their duties, and even meeting them required passing a test.
"Shouldn't be too hard," Yan Luo said.
They had both the strength and intelligence, as long as the sages' test wasn't to assess the history of Alfheim, they should be able to pass.
After all, the sages hadn't said that only individuals were allowed to take the test.
Seeing how confident they were, the Lord of Gass City didn't intend to stop them and directly informed them of the current residence of the nearest sage to Gass City.
"Starting from Gass City, head straight east, after leaving the forest, you'll see a mountain range. Within the mountains, there is a gorge. Follow the river that flows through the gorge, go to its end, and head north. There you'll see a tall mountain peak, and that's where Master Fuer resides now," the Lord of Gass City truthfully told them the sage's residence. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Knowing the location, it would be much easier to head there next.
Yan Luo nodded, thanked the Lord of Gass City, and then began discussing with the Lord how the elf exchange students from Gass City were performing on Blue Star.
On the whole, the elves tended to be a bit playful, but they would buckle down and study when necessary. Their curiosity about everything on Blue Star was understandable.
In time, once they were familiar with Blue Star's technological creations, they should be able to focus on their studies.
The Lord of Gass City was fairly satisfied with this.
The elf exchange students sent from Gass City to Blue Star were all very young, so their slight playfulness was understandable as long as they completed the learning tasks assigned by their tutors and kept up with the curriculum, everything would be fine.
Having discussed everything, Yan Luo and Sasa took their leave from the Lord of Gass City and exited the Lord's Mansion.
Standing outside the Lord's Mansion, Yan Luo looked down at Sasa and asked, "Do we set off now, or should we take a break first?"
Sasa shook her head, "I don't feel very tired, let's set off now to avoid any further dreams."
"Alright." Yan Luo nodded.
The two of them got into an armored vehicle and headed to the Human Mansion.
Parking the armored vehicle in the front yard of the Human Mansion, Yan Luo and Sasa entered the large house and explained the situation to Yulia.
Naturally, Yulia had some questions she wanted to consult the elven sages about, but her questions could be entrusted to Yan Luo and Sasa to ask on her behalf.
Following this, Yulia would act with the convoy, while Yan Luo, Sasa, and Yevgenia would head to Sage Fuer's residence to seek guidance from the elf sage.
They didn't take the armored vehicle; instead, they walked out of Gass City.
Once outside the barrier, Yan Luo picked Sasa up by her waist, holding her in a princess carry.
Simultaneously, Yevgenia cast a flying curse on herself, lifting her off the ground.
In the next moment, the magnetic field power within Yan Luo erupted, propelling him into the sky.
The power of a field of fifty thousand magnets was already enough to allow Yan Luo to fly, albeit with great energy consumption.
But that wasn't a problem, as he could recharge his magnetic field power by consuming demon meat and absorbing magic power while flying.
Yan Luo and Yevgenia flew rapidly to the east, with all flying demons avoiding them for fear of attacking.
With Sasa in his arms, she took demon meat chunks from the space pouch to feed to Yan Luo.
Currently, both of Yan Luo's hands were occupied with holding her, making it difficult to use magnetic field power to retrieve items from the space pouch, so Sasa acted as his feeder, supplying demon meat while he flew.
Yan Luo and Yevgenia accelerated several times along their journey, now reaching a speed that broke the sound barrier.
Sasa couldn't distinguish the surroundings clearly, everything around her appeared as countless lines stretching continuously in one direction.
In this bizarre view, the only thing retaining its full shape was Yan Luo, as he remained relatively still from her perspective.
Yan Luo and Yevgenia followed the route given by the Lord of Gass City.
Though the Lord only used a few words to describe the route, in reality, if they traveled to Sage Fuer's residence by armored vehicle, it might take nearly five days.
In their flying state, Yan Luo and Yevgenia took only a few hours to arrive at the base of the mountain where Sage Fuer resided.
They couldn't reach the summit directly, having to act according to the test set by the sage.
And the sage's test was simple—
Climb the mountain!
