Abyss Sequence-Chapter 463 - 38: An Unacceptable Truth
Julia followed Sasha to No.2 Crimson.
After arriving on Blue Star, she looked at the crowd of elf exchange students and then at the surroundings that were incongruent with the elves’ attire, and suddenly realized something.
"Sasha, why did you cooperate with my father to trick me into coming here?"
Julia was not stupid; she just lacked life experience. Unlike Mirel, who was constantly moving between various Elf Cities as an Intercity Messenger and could see through matters at a glance.
Arriving on Blue Star, Julia finally realized the issue of ’too many elf exchange students.’
Alfheim didn’t need to send so many students to communicate and learn with humans, even if other cities were not willing to fall behind, they didn’t have to rush them here on an airship.
Other Elf Cities had never had any contact with humans; they had no sentiment for cities beyond their own, let alone contact with humans they never met before.
It was still justifiable for cities that once traded with humans to send some students to learn human science and technology, but sending over three thousand students was bizarre.
Julia vaguely felt that these students weren’t just here for exchange studies, but more like... refugees?
Moreover, Julia noticed that the ratio of male to female students might be one-to-one.
She didn’t think this was a coincidence; it must have been deliberately arranged.
Alfheim did not care about ’men’s rights’ or ’women’s rights’ as these ideas were too outdated. Any elf who wasn’t dim-witted knew that each gender had its merits and weaknesses, so such a bizarre reason would not lead to a deliberate arrangement for a one-to-one male-female ratio among the students.
Some nebulous inspirations floated in her mind, but when Julia thought about it, she found she couldn’t grasp them.
Thus, she chose to ask Sasha.
Hearing this, Sasha glanced at Julia and sighed, "You don’t want to know."
"Please tell me!" Julia looked at Sasha earnestly, sincerely pleading.
Sasha fell silent, turning to glance around.
The two of them now stood in a large square on No.2 Crimson, where more than three thousand elf exchange students had gathered, and a previous batch of students had also arrived to share their experiences with the ’novices.’
The humans previously sent to Alfheim for studies had also been brought back because among the elves now studying on Blue Star, some could hold mentor positions in Alfheim.
Alfheim had become a bomb primed to explode at any time, so Sasha and Yulia decided to recall all human exchange students.
Looking at the vast crowd, Sasha whispered, "This isn’t the place to talk, follow me."
Sasha took Julia to an armored vehicle belonging to the Red Rose Warband, which currently had Hunters maintaining order in the square. Sasha requested access from Helena, easily securing a private space for conversation.
Once inside, Sasha disabled all interior cameras and audio-recording devices before turning to Julia.
Julia also noticed Sasha’s actions and couldn’t help but frown, feeling anxious inside.
She didn’t know exactly what Sasha was doing, but knew it had to be to prevent their conversation from being leaked.
"You want to know why I cooperated with your father to trick you here; first, you need to understand what exactly happened in Alfheim."
As she spoke these words, Sasha had already decided not to let Julia return.
Unlike Yevgenia, Julia lacked much life experience; if Julia learned of the Elven Saints’ plan, she might attempt to help the elves around her upon returning to Alfheim.
Although a commendable approach, it might affect the Saints’ plan.
Alfheim had no turning back; elf civilization would inevitably give birth to an eldritch god. The only question was whether it would be a positive god or the original eldritch god.
If it were the original eldritch god and the Elven Saints couldn’t defeat it, the elves of Alfheim might face extinction.
Thus, the two Elven Saints made preparations, intending for the elf civilization to birth a positive eldritch god.
Only this way could the elves continue their existence.
If Julia returned to Alfheim and tried to help the elves around her, it might disrupt the ideology in Alfheim and affect the Saints’ plan.
Sasha slowly explained the Saints’ plan to Julia.
Julia listened quietly, her face growing paler, her hands on her knees tightening.
After listening, Julia was silent for a while, then took a deep breath and whispered, "Do the Saints really have such a plan?"
"This is what Fuer Hongfeng said in person," Sasha replied softly, "Unless he has deceived us, I can assure you that everything I’ve said is true."
Julia bit her lower lip, turning pale.
She hadn’t known that so much had happened in Alfheim.
Since Alfheim would give birth to an eldritch god, her coming to Blue Star now was akin to desertion?
"... No, I have to go back!"
Julia looked at Sasha, pleading, "Sasha, please, send me back. Even if the eldritch god born in Alfheim destroys our civilization, I want to be buried along with the residents of Gass City..."
Sasha shook her head, "No, you might disrupt the Saints’ plan if you return."
Whether Alfheim could birth a positive eldritch god was also crucial for Blue Star.
The Elf Saints were essentially conducting an experiment for them, so Sasha would not allow Julia to return.
Even if her return only ’might’ affect the Saints’ plan, as long as there was even a tiny chance, Sasha wouldn’t let Julia return.
Julia watched Sasha, her gaze becoming dazed.
She knew the jade-engraved talisman capable of opening a spatial passage was with Sasha, but she couldn’t forcefully take something from a friend.
The thoughts of ’wanting to return to Alfheim’ and ’not wanting to snatch from a friend’ flickered in her mind, causing Julia considerable distress.
At this moment, the car door was opened.
Julia looked up to see Yan Luo standing outside, surprised.
Seeing Yan Luo, Sasha let out a sigh of relief, jumped out of the car, and swiftly moved to hide behind Yan Luo, poking her head out to call to Julia inside, "Julia, just stop worrying about it, I won’t let you return to Alfheim."
Clearly, Yan Luo was summoned by Sasha.
Yan Luo looked down at Sasha behind him and asked, "Did you tell Julia about that matter?"
Sasha shrugged helplessly, "Julia insisted I say it."
"If she insists, you just tell her?"
Sasha wrinkled her nose and elbowed Yan Luo in the back. It wasn’t the time for bickering.
Then Sasha reached into her pocket and handed the jade-engraved talisman to Yan Luo.
Yan Luo took the talisman from Sasha, showed it to Julia, and then put it into his pocket.
Julia stared blankly, then smiled bitterly.
Alright, there’s no need to agonize now.
The device capable of opening a spatial passage was with Yan Luo, impossible for her to take.
"Julia, if you don’t want to live with Suniya, you can stay at my place for the time being," Yan Luo said to Julia.
Sasha’s clever little head realized some underlying meaning and asked, "Where are you going?"
Yan Luo, while not a perfect gentleman, wouldn’t casually let himself and another woman stay in a room alone.
In the conversation, Yan Luo didn’t mention anyone else, only saying to Julia that she could stay at his house, indicating he might not be home.
"I’m going to make a trip to Alfheim."
Yan Luo pressed Sasha’s shoulder and calmly stated, "The eldritch god of Alfheim is about to emerge. I’m not an elf, so the chaos may not concern me. I want to see what the eldritch god looks like with my own eyes, and if there’s anything I can help with, I will."
Hearing Yan Luo was going to Alfheim, Julia got excited, "Yan Luo, take me..."
"No!"
Yan Luo instantly refused.
"You must stay on No.2 Crimson; you are not allowed to return to Alfheim."
After speaking, Yan Luo sent a message to Wang Lingyu, who was still slumbering, and turned to head towards the Abyss entry point.
