Chapter 43: 030 Liabilities, But Became the Captain_2
Yang Ming shook his head, “They have already betrayed you—though it was Mimili who was directly betrayed. I think what you should do is not to subdue the Black Dragon, but to destroy it, eliminate the threat, and then help Mimili establish a new pirate group.”
Kolev, with his hands behind his back, had a face full of contemplation.
“I know, Hanton,” Kolev said, “you are always wise and sharp. You are quite right. But everyone has moments of foolishness in their life, and having fought for the Black Dragon for most of my life, I don’t want to…”
“Listen, First Mate!”
Yang Ming raised his voice, his gaze intense.
“The Black Dragon Pirate Group is not your private property. The moment you decided to treat it as a private inheritance, what followed was inevitable. It is a collective, and you are the leader, but you are not the entirety of the herd! Now, or rather, if you want to do something for your daughter, you should eliminate this threat. Your former pirate group has become the enemy of both you and your daughter!”
...
Kolev sat down by the table, his support evident.
His murky eyes were somewhat hesitant.
Yang Ming looked at the older man, feeling somewhat soften-hearted.
“I may have spoken harshly, but I stand by my view.”
“I understand,” Kolev said with a bitter smile. “But Hanton, those guys, the ones I personally cultivated, I still feel… I need to find a way to regain at least three or four ships and reestablish credibility among them.”
Yang Ming sighed inwardly, saying gently, “I know your capabilities, Kolev. Without you, the Black Dragon Pirate Group is just a second-rate group. Tell me your plan, and I will help you as much as I can, for the sake of this ship.”
“I am thinking of using Guka to counter Kimo,” Kolev said. “Guka’s firepower is second only to Kimo’s, and now he is the deputy leader of the Black Dragon and has significant disagreements with Kimo. But I know he’s currently interested in just three things.”
The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.
“Three things?”
“My influence, my wealth, and my beautiful daughter.”
Yang Ming’s expression was indescribable. “So, Guka is an ‘untouchable lover’ too?”
“What?” Kolev was a bit confused.
“Ah, never mind,” Yang Ming said. “Then what do you plan to do?”
Kolev gestured, and strands of light entwined, creating a projection screen before him.
—Molly was already very skilled at handling this.
Two half-portraits of men appeared on the screen, Kimo and Guka, Kolev’s former right-hand men.
Kolev said, “Whether or not we can provoke a war between Guka and Kimo is crucial for our victory. My current goal is the ships beyond these two powers. Guka is patient, vicious, bitter, and greedy. He is most likely coveting my wealth right now, so if he captures me, he won’t kill me immediately.”
Yang Ming frowned tightly. “You’re planning to use yourself as bait.”
“Exactly,” Kolev said. “I plan to throw myself into the balance. This is the only way to disrupt their equilibrium right now.”
Yang Ming studied the information on the screen carefully, slowly sitting on the edge of the workbench, his well-toned muscles emitting a warm glow under the light.
He asked, “Since I’ve accepted your favors, naturally I’ll help execute your plan. Should I stay close to protect you?”
“No, no, no, you are Plan B.”
“Hmm?”
Kolev raised an eyebrow. “I have considered the actual situation thoroughly before setting this plan. I need a force on the periphery, able to threaten both of them. You are that force.”
Yang Ming perked up. “Go on, explain in detail.”
“My idea is simple.”
Kolev shook off his downtrodden look, his eyes blazing as he explained.
“First, I will find a way to fall into Guka’s hands and then publicly support him. Guka and Kimo have already placed spies on each other. What I need to wait for is their confrontation and meeting, then divert their focus onto each other and find a way to make them fight.”
“This is my responsibility.”
“When they start arguing… if the argument happens on the ground, then I don’t have to worry about anything, you can easily handle it, right, Hanton?”
Yang Ming spoke seriously, “I need to know their specific strengths, firepower intelligence, and a large number of weapons.”
“I will give that to you… but that’s just the easiest scenario. The pirates will be very cautious, I guess, the confrontation is most likely to happen between ships.”
Kolev said, “Once the battle starts, you need to breach into Kimo’s ship. Don’t worry about my face, you can blow up the entire ship, you can kill Kimo in front of everyone. You need to show your dominance at that stage, and then I can turn the tables on Guka.”
Yang Ming thought carefully for a while.
Kolev reminded him, “The reward for this task is, you can buy this spaceship for one million credit coins, and my pirate base will always be your supply port.”
Yang Ming exclaimed, “Your plan sounds somewhat executable, essentially it’s just four words, ‘play it by ear.’”
“Hahaha! Exactly!”
Kolev laughed for a bit.
“You might encounter unexpected risks, Kolev,” Yang Ming warned.
“This possibility has accompanied me for over forty years, Hanton, that’s just how the pirate profession is.”
“If you insist,” Yang Ming shrugged, “I am willing to take the risk with you, especially since the discount you’re offering is too good.”
Pleased, Kolev smiled and stood up.
“Come with me, first mate, I had Molly duplicate an artificial intelligence of the same standard; it is now the main control system of your ship, but due to the limited capacity of the onboard computer itself, it can’t be as lively as Molly.”
Yang Ming was overjoyed, “Molly’s nagging is restricted? That’s simply perfect.”
Molly’s voice rang out nearby, “Should I take that as a form of loathing?”
“Without a doubt,” Yang Ming replied very decisively.
Molly huffed, “That means there’s a high chance I’ll be popular with the public.”
A butler robot drove an ‘observation car’, taking Yang Ming and Kolev to the claw-shaped spaceship’s elevator entrance.
Kolev received a ‘mobile phone’-sized glass panel from the robot.
“This is the authentication key for this spaceship, I’ve already pre-entered your biological information by collecting your hair follicles—don’t worry, I have destroyed your biological information, I have no interest in biochemical modifications.”
“This is an IOU, you need to sign.”
Yang Ming read the extremely simple statement.
[I owe Kolev one million Federal Credit Coins, to be repaid within three years, past due interest will accrue at the normal commercial loan rate of the Federal Bank.]
Then he solemnly… signed Hanton’s name.
“This is really just a formality, I can’t go against my own principles as a pirate. Now, Captain Hanton, you need to name your spaceship, and also name your auxiliary system.”
Yang Ming thought for a moment, then casually entered a line in Imperial Language.
Spaceship name: The Flying Henanese.
Main control system name: Molly No. 2.
Yang Ming calmly clicked the confirm button, and even laughed at his own joke.
Such a corny joke.
