Chapter 193: A Day at The Royals

A week passed in the blink of an eye, and the day before the big day had finally arrived. Elion’s birthday was set to fall on Sunday, making this Saturday the perfect day for the little family to check in at The Royals. It was Elaine’s suggestion—or rather, her order—that they come a day earlier and stay for two or three nights to avoid the hassle of going back and forth. More importantly, Elaine reasoned, they could rest properly and not exhaust themselves before the celebration.

Who was Delphinia to refuse such a generous offer? Staying at The Royals, the best and most luxurious hotel in town, felt like a dream come true. The hotel was renowned, its name often appearing in magazines, on television, and in conversations among the elite. A single night’s stay cost nearly the same as a month’s rent for a decent apartment. Even before she met Evander, Delphinia had heard countless stories about the hotel, but she never imagined she would one day step inside as a guest.

Delphinia double-checked their luggage, making sure everything she, Evander, and Ashton would need was neatly packed. Evander lay sprawled on the bed, his arms crossed behind his head, watching her with lazy amusement.

"I swear my mother is so extra," Evander muttered, a smirk playing on his lips.

Delphinia glanced at him from the corner of her eye, a smile tugging at her own lips. "Oh, come on. Just think of it as a little getaway. Besides, we finally get to meet Julian’s girlfriend. He said he would bring her with him this time."

Evander’s brows knitted together, his smirk fading. "I didn’t know you and Julian were so close now."

Delphinia chuckled, zipping up the suitcase. "Jealous, are we?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Evander’s gaze softened, but he only grunted in response, making Delphinia laugh as she walked over to ruffle his hair.

With everything packed, they gathered their things and made their way to the car. Ashton sat in the back seat, swinging his little legs with excitement. The journey to the hotel was smooth, and before long, the grand façade of The Royals came into view—an imposing building of marble and glass that gleamed beneath the sun.

As they pulled up, the doormen immediately opened the car doors. Mr. Morris, the hotel’s general manager, stood at the entrance, smiling warmly.

"Mr. Walton, Mrs. Walton, welcome to The Royals."

"Thank you, Mr. Morris," Evander replied, shaking his hand firmly.

Bellboys swiftly moved to unload their luggage, and Mr. Morris personally escorted them inside. The lobby was breathtaking, with a high vaulted ceiling, glittering chandeliers, and marble floors that gleamed under the soft lighting. The air was scented with fresh lilies, and soft classical music played in the background.

They were taken straight to the elevator, ascending to one of the highest floors. When the elevator doors opened, Mr. Morris led them to the double doors of their suite.

"Welcome to the Presidential Suite," he announced, pushing the doors open.

Ashton let out an audible gasp, running inside without a second thought. Delphinia’s eyes widened, taking in the opulent space. The living room was vast, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of the city skyline. Plush velvet sofas, a glass coffee table, and gold-accented furniture filled the room. A marble fireplace stood against one wall, unlit but no less grand.

Delphinia stepped further inside, her fingers brushing over the smooth marble countertop of the mini bar. She could hardly believe her eyes.

Evander leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching her with a knowing smile. "Impressed?"

Delphinia jolted, realizing she must have looked utterly countrified, her wide eyes giving her away. Clearing her throat, she quickly composed herself.

"It’s... a good suite," she said, trying to sound nonchalant.

Mr. Morris chuckled lightly. "I’m glad you like it, Mrs. Walton. If there’s anything you need, please don’t hesitate to let us know."

"Thank you, Mr. Morris. I was thinking of going down later to check out the venue for tomorrow."

"Of course, Mrs. Walton."

With that, Mr. Morris excused himself, leaving the family to settle in. There were three bedrooms in the suite, and Ashton eagerly claimed one for himself. Once the boy disappeared into his room, Evander took Delphinia’s hand and led her to their own.

The bedroom was no less luxurious—a king-sized bed with crisp white linens, floor-to-ceiling windows draped with heavy curtains, and a private balcony overlooking the city. Delphinia walked to the window, pressing her palm against the cool glass.

"I’ve never stayed anywhere like this before," she murmured, more to herself than anyone else.

Evander came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.

"You can from now on," he whispered, his breath warm against her ear. "As many times as you like. Not just here—anywhere you want."

Delphinia leaned back into him, her heart swelling at his words. She closed her eyes, letting the warmth of his embrace seep into her bones.

Evander pressed a soft kiss to her neck, trailing upward along her jawline. His hands roamed over her waist, pulling her closer. When he spun her around to face him, Delphinia’s breath caught in her throat. His eyes darkened, filled with a heat that sent shivers down her spine.

He kissed her slowly, deeply, his fingers tangling in her hair. When he pulled away, his lips brushed over her flushed cheek.

"Maybe we should make some good memories in this bed," he murmured, his voice low and teasing.

Delphinia’s heart skipped a beat, but she managed to push lightly against his chest. "Let’s wait until night."

Evander chuckled, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Tease."

She smiled, her fingers tracing the collar of his shirt. "Patience is a virtue, Mr. Walton."

Evander groaned dramatically but leaned in to kiss her forehead. "Fine. But you better not fall asleep on me later."

Delphinia laughed softly, the sound filling the room. For the first time in a long while, she felt completely at ease—surrounded by luxury, wrapped in Evander’s arms, and looking forward to the memories they were about to create.
