Chapter 31: For Memories

The aroma of roasted meats and freshly baked bread greeted Delphinia as they stepped into the restaurant. Ashton tugged at Evander’s hand, his excitement barely contained as they were guided to their table.

Evander, always calm, took the lead, casually slipping a few bills to the host who greeted him with a knowing nod. The staff treated them like royalty, ensuring every detail was perfect.

Ashton eagerly flipped through the menu, his wide eyes scanning the pages. "Can I have fish and chips, please?" he asked, practically bouncing in his seat.

Delphinia chuckled. "You came all the way to London for fish and chips?"

Ashton flashed a grin without even trying to hide it. "Of course! It’s a classic, isn’t it?"

Evander raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Let the boy enjoy himself. Order whatever you like."

Delphinia rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress her smile. The waiter appeared and took their orders, handling it like a true expert. Delphinia chose a hearty shepherd’s pie, while Evander selected a perfectly seared steak, medium rare. Ashton, true to his word, went all in on the fish and chips.

After their meal, the trio ventured out to explore one of London’s most iconic landmarks: the Tower Bridge. As they approached, Delphinia couldn’t help but gape at the majestic structure. The twin towers, with their neo-Gothic design, stood tall over the River Thames, looking even more impressive in person than in pictures.

"This is incredible," she murmured, her fingers already fumbling with her phone to capture the scene.

Ashton sprinted ahead, leaning over the railing to peer at the boats below. "Look at the river, Daddy! It’s so big!"

Evander stood beside her, his hands tucked casually into his coat pockets. "First time seeing it?"

Delphinia didn’t bother looking at him, too focused on getting the perfect shot. "Obviously," she muttered. "Not everyone just hops on a plane whenever they feel like it."

She snapped photo after photo, each angle capturing a different aspect of the bridge. A few were of Ashton as he posed dramatically, his arms stretched wide like he was flying. Without thinking too much, she aimed the camera at Evander. He arched an eyebrow but didn’t move, allowing her to take the picture.

"What are you doing?" he asked after the click. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"Just capture some memories," she replied with a shrug, refusing to meet his gaze.

As they wandered further, a photographer approached them with a polite smile. He held out a few glossy prints. "Excuse me, sir, madam. I took these earlier and thought you might be interested."

Evander took the photos, his expression hard to read as he looked through them. One showed Delphinia smiling as she took a picture of him and Ashton, her face lit with genuine joy. The other captured the three of them walking together, looking in synx.

"How much?" Evander asked.

The photographer named his price, and Evander paid without hesitation. He handed the photos to Delphinia, who stared at them with wide eyes.

"I didn’t even notice someone was taking pictures," she said, her voice soft.

"They’re good," Evander said simply, as though that explained everything.

Ashton tugged at her sleeve. "Look! There’s a souvenir shop!" He pointed eagerly toward a colorful stand filled with trinkets.

Delphinia laughed, allowing herself to be pulled along. She picked up a small red hat embroidered with the word "London" and placed it on her head. "What do you think?" she asked, striking a silly pose.

Ashton giggled. "You look funny."

She grinned and held up another hat. "Do you want one?"

"No way!" Ashton declared, crossing his arms. "That’s embarrassing!"

Delphinia laughed again and purchased the hat for herself, slipping it into her bag. "Suit yourself."

As the evening came, they had dinner at yet another high-end restaurant. The atmosphere was intimate yet sophisticated, and Delphinia found herself relaxing despite Evander’s occasional smirks that made her want to throw her drink at him.

By the time they returned to the mansion, exhaustion was beginning to set in. Ashton yawned loudly, rubbing his eyes as a maid escorted him to his room.

Delphinia turned to follow, but Evander’s voice stopped her. "You’re with me," he said casually.

She froze, slowly turning to face him. "What do you mean?"

Evander hung out in the doorway, arms crossed, with that annoyingly calm look on his face. "We’re sharing a room."

Her jaw dropped. "Excuse me?"

"I said what I said," he remarked, as casual as if he were talking about the weather.

Delphinia pointed toward the long hallway. "This is a mansion. There are plenty of rooms."

Evander shrugged. "They haven’t been cleaned."

She gaped at him. "That’s fine! I’ll sleep in a dirty room."

His eyes gleamed with amusement. "Not happening. If you get sick, you’ll probably blame me."

Delphinia just stared at him, completely shocked. "Are you serious right now?"

Evander walked in, unbuttoning his sleeves as he headed to the bed.

Her hands balled into fists. "I’ll sleep in the living room."

"Suit yourself," he said, sitting on the edge of the bed. "But why are you panicking? We’re husband and wife, after all. Sharing a bed isn’t exactly unusual. We could even—"

"Don’t you dare finish that sentence!" she snapped, her face flaming. She grabbed her suitcase and stormed out, muttering angrily under her breath.

Delphinia dragged her suitcase into the living room. She found the largest couch and threw her things down with a huff. "Annoying, arrogant, insufferable..." she grumbled as she set up a makeshift bed.

After washing up and changing into her pajamas, she curled up on the couch. Her mind raced as she thought about Ashton. What would she tell him if he came downstairs and found her here? She didn’t want to ruin their budding relationship, but there was no way she was sharing a room with Evander.

Her thoughts grew hazy as exhaustion took over. As she drifted off to sleep, she muttered under her breath, "Evander Walton, you’re so annoying..."
