Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 193: Why Is He Taking Off His Clothes
Zane was quietly working on the side, while Sophia was sleeping soundly, until an untimely knock on the door sounded.
It was Sophia’s door.
Zane glanced at the person in the camera.
She was sleeping groggily, but the sudden knock made her furrow her brows.
Who is it? This is the perfect time for sweet dreams, truly disturbing the peace.
She didn’t get up, and three more knocks echoed.
She sighed lightly, muttering curses under her breath.
Zane chuckled.
This woman’s morning grumpiness is quite intense; how come he never noticed it before?
"Why are you still here?" Sophia opened her eyes and immediately saw the explosively handsome face in the camera.
"Hmm, don’t want to see me?" Zane grinned.
Sophia pouted, a smile rolling at her lips, "Want to, really want to!"
She glanced at her phone, which was almost out of battery.
"How much do you want?" he teased.
"Wanting you won’t bring you back here," she feigned frustration.
Slowly, she walked towards the door, peering through the peephole, her brows knitted.
"Who?" Seeing her expression, Zane figured whoever was outside wasn’t good news.
"Faye." She whispered, "Don’t say anything, I won’t open the door, going back to sleep."
Zane paused, looking displeased.
This guy is taking advantage of his travel to steal his wife?
What a sly move.
Knocking on his wife’s door late at night, what’s he planning?
"Open it; he’ll call you if you don’t," he insisted, "Don’t hang up on me, I’ll stay with you tonight."
Sophia considered for a moment.
Opening the door for a man late at night wasn’t ideal; last time, Henry Quinn confronted her, leaving a shadow in her heart.
But today, with her husband on guard, she wasn’t afraid.
She opened a tiny gap, poking her head just enough to see the person outside.
The person outside glanced at Sophia, noting she was holding her phone, on a video call with a familiar man.
And that man wasn’t wearing clothes!
Sophia didn’t know when he had undressed.
What’s he undressing for...
"Why aren’t you asleep yet? Visiting so late, anything urgent?" Sophia asked, somewhat embarrassed.
Faye dismissed the odd thoughts in his mind, handing her the dessert in his hands.
"My mom said she wanted something to eat earlier, so when I went out to pack for her, passed by a dessert shop and bought a portion for you and Annie too."
Faye casually bought some for Annie too.
It was hard to refuse since he specified it wasn’t just for her alone, and he was holding another portion in his hand.
"At tonight’s event, I noticed you girls didn’t eat much, worried you weren’t used to it." Faye.
Sophia took the dessert from his hand, thanking him.
"Good night." He didn’t linger.
"Good night." Sophia hurriedly shut the door.
She took a deep breath.
Faye outside stared at his now empty hand, gazing at the door, dumbfounded for quite a while.
He initially wanted to try and have the dessert with her, it seemed Sophia was being watched tightly.
Faye chuckled wryly, turning to leave.
Sophia put the dessert down; she was indeed a bit hungry.
She quickly found the charger, plugging in her phone.
After plugging in, she focused on the man across, not only was he shirtless, he was flaunting the chest muscles many women desire.
No clue how he managed to develop them.
Earlier he was all suited up, now half-naked, was it to show Faye?
It’s quite misleading; doing this on video, what’s the point...
"Why are you undressing?"
She giggled, knowingly asking.
"You quite like it, don’t you? Can’t sleep without touching it at night." Zane had lost interest in his work, staring at the woman in a camisole nightdress on the opposite side.
Sophia wasn’t sure if there were others around him, he dared to do anything.
"Put it on quickly." she said.
Zane ignored her, "Eat up, don’t starve yourself, I’ll watch you eat."
She didn’t mishear; Zane told her to eat dessert.
"So, I’m eating then?"
"Why wouldn’t you?" he laughed.
Surely Faye wouldn’t poison it at this time?
If he did, Zane could easily get someone to deal with him.
Sophia smirked, beginning to eat the dessert in front of him.
Zane, smiling, put on a shirt, but playfully left two buttons undone, called Harry in and resumed working.
They didn’t disturb each other; she ate her dessert, he did his work.
At night, Sophia slept with the video on, Zane left the video running all day.
Harry softened his voice when speaking.
The next day when she woke up, Zane didn’t know when he had hung up, showing a call of several hours.
It was her first time spending so long on the phone, feeling sweet, a vague pleasure.
While brushing her teeth and checking her phone, coincidentally she saw messages from Hugh Irving sent the previous night.
Mrs. Irving had fallen ill and was hospitalized, she returned to the city midway through the night.
Sophia replied with comforting words.
[No worries, I’m here, it’s just wrapping up, you handle things there, take good care of Auntie, don’t stress too much.]
[Thanks a lot, my dear sister.]
[It was definitely tiring, reward me when I return, by the way, the dessert last night was great, feels like the ones here are more authentic than what we usually have.] Sophia couldn’t help chatting more.
[Dessert? What dessert?] Hugh asked.
Sophia paused for a moment.
So Faye specially brought it over last night?
She quickly tidied herself, walking out the door.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw Faye coming out of his room too.
"Morning." Faye.
Sophia paused briefly, "Morning."
Neither spoke further, heading together to the rooftop restaurant for breakfast.
There were already many people lining up for food upstairs.
Faye found a spot, "You sit here, I’ll get the food, otherwise there’ll be no space soon."
Sophia surveyed the surroundings, reluctantly nodded.
Faye smiled, turning away to grab breakfast.
Sophia’s breakfast was simple: a boiled egg, milk, and half an ear of corn.
"Where’s Teacher Hale?"
Hadn’t seen Teacher Hale since yesterday afternoon, didn’t see her this morning either.
"She hasn’t woken yet, later she’ll come up on her own. We’ll join them for the factory visit first this morning, in the afternoon..." his warm gaze met Sophia’s.
Pausing, he continued, "Initially planned to explore nearby, Hugh returned..."
Seemed like he was inquiring if Sophia would like to stick to the plans, worried she’d feel uncomfortable about it.
Sophia caught on.
She swallowed the boiled egg dryly, unsure of how to answer.
With Hugh absent, it felt like she’d be out on a family trip with him, which wouldn’t do, if that jealous guy found out it’d be trouble.
"We’ll see how it goes." evidently showing some rejection.
Faye surely understood.
He smiled, nodding with acknowledgment.
