Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 197: Is This Comfortable?
The next day.
Faye Ellison didn’t fall asleep until after four in the morning.
Ansel Gallagher snored the entire night; couldn’t drive him away, and couldn’t escape.
It was indescribably painful.
Sophia Lowell brought breakfast at half past eight, and Faye was still asleep.
Ansel Gallagher was quietly sleeping on the chair outside the door.
At that moment, he wasn’t snoring anymore.
It was really odd; maybe he only snores when he’s with Faye?
Sophia cautiously placed the breakfast on the table, glancing at the assistant yawning on the sofa.
"Didn’t he sleep well last night? Why hasn’t he gotten up yet?"
The assistant didn’t want to complain, so he just scratched his head and smiled apologetically.
Faye woke up at ten o’clock.
His face was full of fatigue, with dark circles under his eyes.
"When did you arrive?" Faye felt slightly comforted when he saw Sophia Lowell.
"I came early in the morning, saw you were still resting, so I didn’t want to disturb you. How are you feeling? Any better?" Sophia stood by.
The assistant prepared breakfast for him, setting up a table for him to eat conveniently.
A flash of displeasure crossed Faye’s eyes, a shadow flickered across his face.
"Chester, go handle the discharge." Faye told the assistant next to him.
Just thinking about last night made him upset; it was simply a nightmare.
"Where’s your bodyguard?" Faye turned his head and, not seeing Ansel Gallagher in the room, finally felt a bit of relief.
At last, that silly bodyguard was out of sight.
"He’s guarding outside." Sophia was somewhat puzzled that Faye would ask about this as soon as he got up. "Do you need me to call him in?"
"No need!" Faye replied firmly.
"Well, have your breakfast first." Sophia paused, "Won’t you stay a few more days? The doctor said your injury needs rest."
Rest?
Rest, yes, but where’s the peace?
Can he discuss this with Sophia?
He couldn’t bring himself to do it; didn’t want to trouble her.
"It’s more convenient to stay at home, the hospital smell is too strong, and I can’t sleep in a strange bed." He answered lightly and started eating his breakfast.
Sophia didn’t ask more, just nodded.
She didn’t disturb Faye’s breakfast, but went outside to call Hugh Irving.
Hugh had also been quite busy these past two days, and his replies to her messages had been brief and cursory.
Luckily, Ethan Sinclair was with her, so the pressure in her heart wasn’t as great.
[Feels like the end is near.] Hugh hid in a corner of the hospital, carefully watching the door to the hospital room.
[What’s going on?] Sophia
[Ran into Ethan’s dad coming for a medical check-up at the hospital.]
So now both sets of parents have met? In a hospital?
What a coincidence!
Could Ethan have planned this intentionally?
Hugh sighed and said: [The important thing isn’t that, it seems like my mom has taken a liking to Ethan’s dad.]
[...]
Sophia was utterly shocked by this revelation.
She had thought that things between Hugh and Ethan might be heading somewhere, but didn’t expect such a twist so quickly.
Mrs. Irving’s ability to seize the moment certainly was impressive.
The little puppy had just exited the scene a few days ago, and now she’s taken a liking to the big wolf.
Ethan’s dad is a rugged man, spending most of his time at the racetrack, with muscles all over, tanned and rough-looking, but he has the right looks and charisma.
It’s natural for Mrs. Irving to be attracted to Charles Sinclair.
[In the not-too-distant future, Ethan and I might each be attending our own parents’ wedding banquets.] Hugh sighed.
How did she never realize her mom was so fickle?
She falls for one person after another, and apart from the sorrow when her dad left, she seemed indifferent as other men walked away.
She really feared her mom would mess things up with Charles.
Even rabbits know not to eat the grass next to their burrow, but her mom doesn’t seem to understand going further afield.
How would she and Ethan get along then?
[When are you coming back? Is Faye okay?] Hugh finally asked about the situation on her side.
[I planned to return in a couple of days, but Faye seems uncomfortable with the environment here, and they’re starting the discharge process already. We’ll head back this afternoon, should arrive by evening.] Sophia glanced at the man in the hospital room.
He had already finished breakfast and lay down to continue sleeping.
She didn’t know what exactly happened last night, only that the three men in the room seemed to have stayed awake all night.
The vibrancy of the morning was utterly gone.
[Alright then, see you tonight, I don’t want to stay here any longer either.]
Ending the call quickly, they both returned to the hospital room.
Sophia tidied up the things on the table, and Chester had already completed Faye’s discharge process.
*
When Faye got into the passenger seat, Ansel Gallagher sat in the driver’s position and kindly fastened Faye’s seatbelt.
"Why are you here?" Faye was taken aback for two seconds, his face immediately darkening.
"Madam was exhausted last night, and since you can’t drive, Mr. Ellison, naturally I’m here to do it," Ansel smiled.
"Where’s your car?" Faye frowned slightly.
"I hired a driver," Ansel boasted proudly, he really was quite smart.
Chester was driving his own car, originally thinking Sophia would drive Faye, but to his surprise, it was Ansel.
He just seemed to be everywhere.
Faye was vexed.
Sophia, opening the car door, noticed the subtle change on Faye’s face and worriedly asked, "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No," Faye clicked his tongue, ultimately unable to voice his feelings.
"Why not recline the seat back a bit, it might be more comfortable that way."
As soon as Sophia said that, Ansel, as if receiving instructions, leaned over to adjust Faye’s seatback.
Faye scooted backward in fright.
This man had no sense of boundaries at all.
"Is it comfortable like this?" Ansel asked.
"..." Faye.
What kind of species is this human?
If Sophia wasn’t there, he might have slapped Ansel right then and there.
Let’s go home quickly, and he wouldn’t see this guy anymore.
He chose to remain silent and closed his eyes to rest.
He didn’t want the conversation with Sophia to get disrupted as it did last night, with occasional interjections from him that dampened the mood.
The car drove back to Faye’s villa.
Ansel was diligent, helping him move all the luggage back to his place.
He muttered, "So shabby, nothing as fancy as Mr. Ellison’s place."
"..." Faye seemed no longer to care about his presence.
"Sorry, he’s just like that, don’t mind him." Sophia apologized as she watched him slowly walk back to the villa.
"It’s alright, I’m used to it."
Compared to last night, today was a bit luckier.
Does it matter even if he does mind?
He couldn’t leave immediately, really was bothersome.
"Where’s your housekeeper?" Sophia entered the villa, looking around the empty living room.
"They’re all on vacation. I thought I’d be out for a few days before coming back, so I granted them a week off." Faye glanced at Sophia, "I heard your cooking skills aren’t bad."
Sophia knew what he meant and was about to ask what he liked to eat when Ansel chimed in.
"I can cook well too! Madam, Mr. Ellison said now that you’re preparing for pregnancy, you shouldn’t overwork yourself, let me handle it." Without waiting for a response, Ansel headed into the kitchen.
"Madam, how about sweet and sour ribs and eggplant casserole?"
"..." Sophia’s mind went blank instantly. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Preparing for pregnancy? Is that something to be talked about?
She finally understood why Faye looked so annoyed.
"..." Faye.
Shouldn’t you ask me first?
This is my home!
I’m the patient here!
"Hmm, too sweet isn’t good, since you’re preparing for pregnancy, maybe not do the sweet and sour ribs, I’ll cook something else for you." Ansel continued talking to himself.
Utterly ignoring those around him.
