Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 225: He’s Sick
Only those who have done something guilty would feel nervous.
They would fear if the person involved has no reaction.
Fear that what they did is completely ineffective.
Even more afraid that others would remain indifferent to it.
That’s exactly how Tim Sawyer is behaving now.
She couldn’t get the results she wanted, eager to achieve success, yet she wore herself out to the point of losing herself.
She hadn’t expected Sophia Lowell to do the opposite; she was sure she would make her upset and flustered, but Sophia really didn’t react at all.
It seemed, it seemed, like she didn’t love Zane Sterling.
Maybe that was an illusion, but she couldn’t figure it out.
"You don’t love him?" Tim Sawyer frowned.
Zane loves her to death, and here Sophia Lowell is, unaware of her blessings!
"Love," Sophia smiled, saying without concealment, "Love, but love is the cheapest thing in the world, anyone can love, and anyone can be loved. More than love, what I care about is whether we’re comfortable together, whether we get along."
"Do you think I’m heartless? Yes, I am that kind of person. Actually, when I found out about this, I was devastated, devastated to the point of losing all reason," Sophia looked at Tim Sawyer, "I almost believed it was true."
Tim Sawyer’s face showed slight guilt.
"Have you thought about divorcing him?" Tim Sawyer asked.
"Never."
"..." Tim Sawyer was puzzled, "He’s already betrayed you..."
"But he didn’t."
"How can you be sure?"
"Because you came to me."
Sophia smiled, as if something was relieved in her heart. To Tim Sawyer’s questioning and her almost angry embarrassment, she was more convinced that the woman before her wore a human mask.
At this moment, Tim Sawyer seemed to have her disguise torn off, exposing her naked ambition before Sophia Lowell.
She tried to remain calm and not fall into Sophia’s words.
"What does this have to do with him?" Tim Sawyer was confused.
Zane and Sophia both seemed to have let the matter go; the waves she stirred were like stones sinking into the sea, causing no ripples at all.
Sophia glanced at Tim Sawyer’s lower abdomen; it was visibly showing signs of pregnancy. Although she didn’t quite understand it, she noticed Tim Sawyer had gained some weight.
Tim Sawyer followed her gaze, swallowed, and adjusted her posture.
"If I were you, I’d stay hidden, just keep me hanging until the fruit is ripe, then hit Zane with a paternity test. By then, nothing anyone says will matter." Sophia drank a glass of warm water.
"You chose to come to me at this time, not wanting me to have it easy, fearing this matter wouldn’t affect me, fail to sow discord between us, so you wanted to add fuel to the fire. Am I right?"
Each word of Sophia struck Tim Sawyer’s heart.
Tim Sawyer was rendered speechless.
Sophia is truly clever.
But just days ago, she had been crying as if her world was ending; was that fake?
No, that wasn’t fake.
Sophia, when learning of the matter, was like swallowing ten thousand needles. She couldn’t remain as calm as she imagined, and even slapped Zane across the face.
Even now, thinking back, her chest still burned.
Zane must have been so devastated then; he even knelt, so why couldn’t she be more rational, letting this incident cloud her mind?
She should have had a little more faith.
Tim Sawyer’s mask crumbled at this moment.
Sophia couldn’t sit still; she now wanted to see that man.
She stood up to leave, and Tim Sawyer grabbed her wrist.
"Is this enough?" She held up her phone, with an album opened to a picture of her and Zane in bed.
Sophia’s hand instantly clenched.
Tears welled up in her eyes at the corners.
"Tim Sawyer, betting your purity as a wager, this method really isn’t something to be proud of." Sophia shook off her hand.
Tim Sawyer’s hand loosened, as if something was taken from her, her legs weakened, and she sat on the chair, her heart racing.
Just as Leon Lynn said, Sophia isn’t a fool, and Zane isn’t easy to fool either.
Today, she begged Leon to bring her here, just to meet Sophia, to clarify the things she originally wanted to know.
Today, she finally understood.
"Want to know anything else? I’ll help you." If it’s still not enough to make you give up.
Leon Lynn was leaning against the porch, unbeknownst to her.
Tim Sawyer didn’t speak.
She was just unwilling to give up.
After being with Zane for so long, now there’s really no affection left.
Now that things have come to a head, seeing each other in future will be less than seeing a stranger.
"Stay at my place for now; Zane already knows where you’re staying."
He won’t take her directly, but he will torment her, just sending some drunks to linger around would be enough to scare her to death.
Tim Sawyer knew Zane wanted her to beg, to go to him, to explain herself, otherwise, there were harsher means waiting.
That day her car was rear-ended, and the child in her belly almost wasn’t saved.
She was scared and came to Leon for help.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have wanted to find Leon; this was her last resort.
This was more painful than death for her.
Sophia walked out of the courtyards, to the place where she had parted from Zoe Walsh and the others earlier; they were no longer at the gazebo. Seeing the message, she saw they had gone to another courtyard to have pastries.
Sophia asked a passing maid and finally found the location of the courtyard.
The entire compound had four courtyards; without guidance, one would likely get lost wandering through them.
Following the maid’s direction, she walked in alone.
Before she arrived, she could hear the women’s laughter and chatter inside, as Sofia got closer and closer to them.
She quickened her steps and accidentally bumped into a beautiful woman at the corner.
"Careful!" The woman hastily grabbed Sophia’s wrist.
Sophia’s heart lurched, and she couldn’t calm down for a long time.
"I’m sorry..." The woman apologized repeatedly.
"It’s fine..." She steadied herself, letting out a sigh of relief.
"Sophia?" The woman muttered her name.
Sophia finally focused and carefully observed the woman in front of her.
Cecilia Wallace, someone she hadn’t met, but Cecilia recognized Sophia. Miles Lockwood had a photo of Zane and Sophia on his phone.
"You are..." Sophia looked puzzled.
Cecilia also didn’t know what to feel about meeting this woman. She knew about Zane’s affair with Tim in a foreign country, although she wasn’t sure if it was true, seeing how Miles was, his friends were likely no better.
"Cecilia Wallace."
She smiled but didn’t disclose her engagement with Miles Lockwood. She felt the engagement would eventually be called off; better to keep this relationship quiet to avoid future awkwardness.
"You know me?" Sophia couldn’t help asking.
"Zane is my patient." Cecilia said.
"Patient?" Sophia paused, "What’s wrong with him?"
Patient?
Zane was sick?
Other than a leg injury three years ago, she couldn’t think of where he might have been hurt.
Cecilia wanted to say something more, but Zoe Walsh called Sophia from a distance.
Sophia glanced at Zoe, wanting to hear Cecilia’s answer.
At this moment, Cecilia was also being called by someone else.
The two parted hurriedly like that.
