Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 284: Passion Never Stops
Zane Thorne reached out to gently hold Natalie Vaughn’s wrist, carefully examining it. Her skin was tender, and the knuckles on the back of her hand were all red.
The man bowed his head pain-stakingly and blew on it softly.
This scene caused a small stir among the guests at the banquet, and everyone took a deep breath.
They only knew that Zane was someone from the racing circuit, arrogant and untamed, like an unmanageable black panther. But now this black panther had bowed its head, cautiously blowing on a woman’s hand.
The image was somewhat startling.
How frightening.
Zane is scary, and the woman who captured Zane is also frightening.
This scene was witnessed by Ian, who had just arrived, and he squinted his eyes slightly. The incredibly well-dressed woman beside him noticed his gaze and followed it.
"Do you know that man?"
Ian didn’t respond; he kept looking at Natalie, who was behaving coquettishly in front of Zane, for quite a while. In the few times they had met, Natalie’s attitude towards him had always been distant, even slightly hostile.
He truly couldn’t understand what he lacked compared to Zane.
The woman beside him finally sensed something was off, looking again at the two at the entrance, her gaze falling on Natalie.
"Who is that woman?"
Ian withdrew his gaze and looked down at her.
"Why? You’re trying to control me even before we’re married?"
The woman was immediately infuriated, her expression darkened instantly.
"Let me tell you, our family is no less than yours. Do you think I want to marry you? You’re too arrogant. I’m doing this for the family’s reputation. If you do anything to disgrace us, neither I nor my family will let you off."
Upon hearing these words, Ian’s smile faded slightly, a hint of a sinister look in his eyes.
He always had a gentlemanly demeanor, but this time he directly engaged in conversation with others while holding a drink.
The woman had a look of surprise in her eyes, turning back to look at the entrance where Zane was leading Natalie back into the banquet hall, and she finally got a clear look at Natalie’s face.
An Eastern woman.
When did Ian get to know an Eastern woman?
...
After Zane led Natalie to sit down, she then asked.
"Have you finished talking?"
"Yeah."
Seeing Zane’s expression remain unchanged, Natalie tentatively asked again.
"What did you guys talk about?"
Zane found her cautious demeanor genuinely cute.
"We talked a little about regulations for retired athletes returning to the track."
Natalie’s eyes instantly widened.
"What do you mean?"
If it were just a simple regulation, Zane wouldn’t have bothered mentioning it to her. A sudden guess rose in her heart, and it made her too excited and unconsciously nervous.
She didn’t even realize she had already grabbed her skirt tightly.
Zane reached out to hold her hand, finding it still somewhat cold. He rubbed her hand, only asking when her hand warmed up a bit.
"Do you think I could return to the racing circuit?"
Natalie immediately gripped his hand back, swallowing hard.
"Have you decided to return to the racing circuit?"
Zane smiled, stroking the back of her hand.
"I haven’t decided yet, but I’m seriously considering the proposal."
Natalie didn’t hesitate.
"Of course, you can return to the racing circuit. As long as you want to, you can."
Zane’s eyes and lips both showed a hint of a smile.
"But I’m thirty now, and the racing circuit is filled with young drivers. I don’t have any advantage over them." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Upon hearing this, Natalie gave him a very disapproving look.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How could you not have an advantage? Have so many young drivers won as many championships as you? Do they have as much racing experience as you? Do they have your superb skills? Is their talent as high as yours?"
Now Zane’s eyes not only held laughter, but his mouth also turned up.
"Am I really that amazing?"
"Yes, you’re just that amazing, if you return to the racing circuit, they will definitely be intimidated."
This wasn’t just blind praise from Natalie; though there was a lot of emotion involved, in the two times she saw him, Zane was no less than the young kids in the club.
If he truly wanted to return to the racing circuit, with professional training, he would have absolutely no problem. She didn’t know how capable foreign racers were, but since everyone said the new kid was the second Zane Thorne, winning several championships at a young age, Zane now was no worse off than the new kid, perhaps even slightly better.
So if that doesn’t count as amazing, what does?
Zane was delighted by Natalie’s unwavering trust, and he couldn’t resist leaning over to give her a kiss.
"Aren’t you worried?"
Natalie’s eyelashes trembled slightly, she knew what Zane meant.
During the New Year at the Thorne family, his mother said that now that Zane had formed a new family with her, any decision Zane made should consider their little family.
She had already given her answer back then.
"This is your life, whatever you want to do, I will support you."
Zane’s eyes were filled with deep emotion. He directly cradled the back of Natalie’s head, lowering it to kiss her. He kissed her till her lipstick was all gone and she was slightly breathless before he let go.
Natalie’s eyes were glistening, she asked.
"Have you made up your mind?"
Zane smiled, patting her head.
"No rush."
Natalie: ...
...
Since the day Zane took the initiative to bring up the matter of returning to the racing circuit, Natalie had an additional task to do every day.
She called Mr. Spencer while Zane was busy, specifically asking how to properly take care of Zane’s left wrist and even had Mr. Spencer send some herbal medicine over.
Every night at ten, Natalie would prepare the herbal medicine on time, for Zane’s external application.
Since the weather in Kensingport was still quite cold and damp, although Zane didn’t show it, Natalie noticed that he would always rub his left wrist when it rained.
After applying the herbal medicine for a week, Natalie began asking Zane if his hand would hurt at night.
The herbal medicine did work, after using it for a week, Zane felt that his hand wasn’t as painful as it used to be.
However.
"You can just leave these things to others, you don’t need to do them yourself."
They had a big house in Kensingport and had hired a Chinese auntie living nearby to help with household chores.
But Natalie shook her head.
"I want to prepare it myself and watch your hand slowly get better, it will give me a sense of achievement."
Another more important reason was that she wanted to show Zane through her actions that she would support any decision he made.
Zane indeed felt somewhat relieved.
At the banquet that day, not only did Miles try to persuade him, but another person helped as well. And that person was an exceptionally outstanding racer when he was younger, someone Zane had great respect for.
He was the common idol of Zane and Gideon Sheffield.
The man had heard parts of the events from back then and said a sentence to Zane.
"Passion never stops."
For people who play racing, once they start, they can never truly suppress their love for it.
Racing has that kind of charm.
For the past five years, Zane had lived in torment, not just with guilt but with the pain of giving up on his dream and passion.
