Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 176: A Different Discussion
A deathly silence enveloped the room, only the steady dripping of blood could be heard. Violet slowly panned her gaze across the room, locking eyes with each elder present, one by one.
The weaker elders could hardly hold her gaze for a moment, sweat beading down their foreheads as they quickly broke eye contact and looked anywhere but at her. The ones in the middle and late stage of Lordship managed to hold her eyes for the few seconds she gave each of them. Yet she could still taste their fear, these were not battle hardened people.
They were weak, coddled, arrogant. They thought themselves untouchable due to their apparent station. Yet Violet had just shattered that flimsy illusion, reminding them that it is strength alone that dictates the rules.
Only the two sovereigns present did not show any fear, Ivy as she already had a good impression of Violet, and had already been briefed on what Violet may do if she gets insulted. The older soverign was simply calculating, he did not fear for his life, knowing that whilst Violet was strong for her level, she posed no direct risk to her life.
Yet when compared to someone like Ivy, his strength was considerably lacking. He was also a smart man, he took notice of Violet communicating with Ivy when she first walked in. He may not know what was said between them, yet he could guess enough to understand that they held some form of relationship.
So he did not react, biding time to allow him to gain a better understanding of the situation before making any actions.
Plus he really didn’t like that particular elder, he was far too pompous for his role, so he viewed it as a net positive that he was removed.
"Now why don’t we got down to the reason that you asked me to come here." Violet curtly broke the silence. Luna adding her own words shortly after.
"We had a good impression of the Wild Order thanks to our meeting with Ivy, yet that oppinion has drastically dropped after this joke of a conversation. Why are you all sat up high thinking that you can look down on us? We are beasts of the Wilds, we do as we wish not as others decide."
Whilst Luna was still learning exactly what it meant to be ’Wild’, she had learnt enough from observing Violet to have a basic understanding. To be Wild was to follow your own whims, be that to undertake a grand quest, or to simply desire something tasty to eat. Sure it also involved taking on any corruption they came across, but that is something that Luna thought anyone of sufficient power should strive to do.
So to be effectively summoned into this meeting without even asking their opinion on the matter, to then be openly insulted the moment that they walked in. It angered both companions, it challenged their beliefs, their values. It was something that neither girl was willing to accept.
So they had made their point, it was now up to these elders to offer any valid reason for them not to just walk away and leave.
No one else spoke for several seconds after their words, the weak elders too afraid to speak up, the more powerful ones throwing glances at the two sovereigns present. Eventually Ivy stood up, she then vanished from her spot to reappear floating in the air a few meters away from Violet and Luna. Specifically not floating above them but at eye height with them both.
A subtle gesture of good will, indicating to the elders that she viewed them as equals to herself. Whilst to Violet and Luna showing them some goodwill by abandoning the pre arranged theatrics to meet them on more normal terms.
"Violet, Luna, Rhyana and Susan. You all have my apologies for that fools words, and for the rest of these cowards actions today. I am glad to see that you are doing well." He then looked around at the frozen elders, a look of contempt flashing across her face for a brief moment, near unnoticeable for most, yet Violet’s keen eyes picked the flash of emotion up.
"I hope that her can start fresh and that this event will not sour your opinion of the Wild Order. At our heart we are a order dedicated to stomping out corruption, most of our members are training to do just that, putting their lives on the line to carry out their mission. Sadly some seem to have forgotten that, instead choosing to covert a more... political mindset." She nearly spat the last words out.
She then turned around to face the elders her voice growing steadily more impassioned the more she spoke. "We all swore an oath, to fight against corruption wherever it may appear. Yet in the past years whilst the corruption has grown, we have stagnated. Internal politics have tainted out order, schemes have caused the death of young talent. And arrogance has pushed away promising talent."
She then turned to face the only other sovereign in the room directly. "I suggest a fresh start, to return to our roots. Will you oppose this transition, or will you work with us?"
The elderly dwarven sovereigns face grew serious at these words, complex emotions flickering on his face too fast to pick up. He did not reply immediately, his own gaze quickly glancing around at the assembled elders before returning back to face Ivy.
"How many stand with you?" He asked after some time.
"All bar you." Was her reply. A frown instantly creasing his face at those words. The remaining elders looked back and forth between them in a mix of confusion and fear. Violet and her friends also watching the events as they unfolded with curiosity. Their opinion of Ivy only growing as she continued her display.
The elderly Dwarf let out a long sigh, a look of reluctant defeat passing across his face. He then looked up to meet Ivy’s cold gaze. "Then all shall stand with you."
Ivy nodded at that a bitter smile on her lips as she excepted his answer. She then turned back to face the girls. "I apologise in advance for what is about to happen, please do not be alarmed, no harm shall befall you." Confused but willing to accept that Violet simply nodded.
Ivy turned back one more time to face the assembled elders. "You have been a disgrace to the Wild Order, and just as we excise corruption out in the Wilds, we shall do the same within our own Order."
Then her presence was unfurled fully. Pressuring nearly everyone in the room. Only Violet and her friends being excluded from the oppressive pressure, even the other soverign was not spared her unleashed presence.
Then with a casual wave of her had roots burst through the floor beneath nearly every elder present. Instantly surging upwards as they impaled the frozen men and women killing them instantly.
Only 7 people remained alive within the room, down from the original 20.
