Aether Chronicles: Birth Of A Legend-Chapter 223: Not Ready To Let You Go
Raegar woke up only to see the nurses’ room ceiling, causing him to sigh in relief before sitting up. When doing that, he noticed the Selene sleeping while leaning up against the bed as the moonlight shone through the nearby window.
’What is she doing here?’ he thought just as he sensed Drusilla sleeping on a nearby bed.
The Dark Fairy was sprawled out while letting out an adorable noise; she was fast asleep. He smiled, but seconds later, sensed a pair of eyes on causing his head to turn, only to see Selene’s yellow eyes staring at him.
’’I’m so relieved you’re alright,’’ the Demoness murmured as she stepped closer.
Lanterns cast soft shadows across Slene’s face, highlighting the delicate curve of her horns and the subtle flush spreading across the girl’s cheeks. ’’Head Nurse Kitsunia warned me that whatever that woman slipped into your drink was no ordinary poison.’’
’’It was... sinister, meant to do far worse than knock you out,’’ she concluded.
Raegar, still propped up on the bed, managed a faint smile, though his body ached from the ordeal. He ran a hand through his tousled hair, his red eyes meeting hers with a mix of gratitude and lingering unease.
’’Yeah, she got me good,’’ he admitted. ’’If you hadn’t been there, if you hadn’t sent her sprawling with that perfectly timed kick to the face, I don’t even want to think about what might’ve happened.’’
The Demoness’s cheeks darkened to a deep scarlet as she averted her gaze. She mumbled something, barely audible, her fingers twisting the hem of her cloak. ’’You... you were aware of everything?’’ she curiously questioned.
Raegar’s lips quirked into a mischievous grin, his strength slowly returning as he propped himself up further. ’’Oh, absolutely,’’ he said, his tone teasing.
He leaned forward slightly. ’’Including that part where you declared I was yours.’’
Selene froze, her breath catching as her eyes widened in mortification. Her tail stilled mid-flick, and for a moment, she looked like she might bolt from the room. ’’I—I didn’t mean it like that,’’ she stammered, though the deepening flush on her face betrayed her. ’’You were delirious, and I was just trying to—.’’
Before she could finish, Raegar reached out. His fingers gently lifted her chin, guiding her gaze back to his. The air between them seemed to hum with unspoken tension, the world narrowing to just the two of them.
Then, in a heartbeat, he closed the distance and kissed her, a soft press of his lips against hers, a quiet intensity that spoke of trust, gratitude, and something deeper. Selene stiffened for a fleeting moment, caught off guard by the sudden kiss.
But then she melted into the kiss, her hands tentatively finding his shoulders as she returned it. The warmth of her touch, the faint spark of her magic mingling with his own, sent a shiver down his spine.
When they finally parted, her breath was shaky, but a bright smile curved her lips, her earlier embarrassment replaced by a joyful glow. ’’You’re impossible,’’ she whispered, though there was no real reproach in her tone.
Her tail swayed lazily now, betraying her contentment as she lingered close, her forehead resting lightly against his. Raegar chuckled, his hand still cupping her cheek. ’’And yet, here you are, saving me and—.’’
His words cut off as the Demoness, still flustered and caught in the moment, shifted. Her foot caught on the edge of a rug, and she let out a small gasp. She stumbled forward, tumbling onto the bed.
Selene braced against his chest to catch herself, but the momentum carried her further, and she landed awkwardly across his lap. The air seemed to spark, their faces inches apart, their gazes locking in a charged, breathless moment.
Raegar’s hands instinctively moved to her waist, steadying her as she sat straddling his lap, her tail curling tightly around his leg in a nervous, unconscious gesture. Selene’s eyes widened, her cheeks burning as she stared into his.
A spark passed between them, electric and undeniable, as the world narrowed to just the two of them. ’’You... okay?’’ he teased.
His hands lingered at her waist, firm but gentle, giving the Demoness the space to pull away if she wanted. Selene swallowed, her hands still pressed against his chest, feeling the steady thud of his heartbeat.
’’I’m fine,’’ she managed, trembling.
Her tail tightened its grip slightly, betraying her nerves, but she didn’t move, caught in the pull of his gaze. Raegar’s lips twitched into a soft smile, his thumb brushing lightly against her side.
’’Good,’’ he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. ’’Because I’m not sure I’m ready to let you go just yet.’’
Once Selene heard his words, the tension between them skyrocketed, a mix of desire and vulnerability swirling in the air. Her breath came in shallow bursts, her hands still pressed against his chest, feeling the steady thud of his heartbeat.
Raegar’s hands tightened, grounding her in the moment. Words unspoken, their gazes locked. Selene shifted, her hips pressing closer, grinding against him, which sent waves of heat coursing through his body.
His breath hitched, a low sound escaping his throat as his fingers flexed against her waist, the sensation igniting something raw and unspoken between them. Her eyes darkened, pupils dilating with the same unspoken desire that mirrored his own.
Yet there was a flicker of hesitation, a question lingering in her gaze. Raegar answered it without words. He leaned forward, closing the scant distance between them, and kissed her again, this time deeper, more urgent, the restraint from before giving way to a quiet hunger.
Selene responded instantly, her hands sliding up to tangle in his hair as she pressed herself closer. The kiss was a shared confession of everything they hadn’t said, their bodies still entwined.
Her hips resting in his lap as the warmth of their connection drowned out the world around them. Their lips parted only for a moment, both breathless, their foreheads pressed together as they lingered in the charged silence.
Selene’s tail coiled tighter around his leg, bodies pressing closer as his hands glided up her back. The spark between them flared anew, their lips meeting in a slow, deliberate kiss, each movement charged with rising intensity that threatened to engulf them.
Suddenly, her boobs pressed firmly against his, catching Raegar off guard. His eyes widened, a flush of heat betraying his composure. ’’Selene,’’ he warned. ’’You need to get off me. Now.’’ 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Unfazed, the Demoness shifted, settling closer, only to freeze as she felt him beneath her. A sharp, involuntary moan escaped her lips. ’’Arghh!’’
Just then, a sudden, playful whistle cut through the air, shattering the moment and scaring the duo with a teasing voice. ’’Well, well, what do we have here?’’
Selene and Raegar froze, their lips still inches apart, as Drusilla sat casually on the nearby bed, arms crossed and a mischievous grin growing wider. Her eyes sparkled with amusement, her pointed ears twitching slightly as she took in the sight of the duo.
’’I fall asleep, and suddenly it’s a full-on romance in the infirmary. Should I fetch Nurse Kitsunia, or are you planning to keep this bed occupied a bit longer?’’ she teased.
Selene’s face flushed as she scrambled to slide off Raegar’s lap, though his hands lingered at her waist, steadying her. ’’Drusilla!’’ she sputtered. ’’It’s, it’s not what it looks like!"
Raegar, unfazed, let out a low chuckle, his eyes still locked on the Demoness’s flustered expression before glancing at his Fairy lover. ’’Oh, I don’t know,’’ he said, his tone playfully defiant. ’’It’s pretty close to what it looks like.’’
Drusilla laughed, pushing off the bed and sauntering closer, her grin widening. "Don’t stop on my account.’’
She waved a hand vaguely, her teasing tone unrelenting. ’’Though, Selene, if you’re going to keep throwing yourself at him, maybe aim for a softer landing next time.’’
Selene buried her face in her hands as she muttered, ’’You’re the worst.’’
Raegar’s grin softened into a warm smile, his hand finding hers and giving it a gentle squeeze. ’’Ignore the gremlin,’’ he murmured, his tone low enough for only Selene to hear. ’’I’m not.’’
Selene peeked at him through her fingers, her blush still vivid but a shy smile tugging at her lips. Drusilla rolled her eyes dramatically. ’’Alright, lovebirds, let’s make sure his not about to keel over from all this excitement. Selene, you can stay, lap or no lap, just don’t hurt him.’’
The group erupted in warm, teasing laughter, the firelight casting playful shadows across their faces. The Dark Fairy leaned forward as she arched a delicate eyebrow. Her voice carried a mischievous lilt, sharp yet fond.
’’So, what’s the deal with you two? Are you officially a thing now, or are you seeing where the winds take you?’’ She teased. ’’Because, you know, Domi and Zahara might not take kindly to being left out of the loop.’’
Raegar’s lips curled into a confident smirk, his eyes glinting with a mix of defiance and charm. He leaned back, one arm casually draped around Selene, who nestled closer, her tail still loosely coiled around his leg.
