Raegar was staring at the tanned woman and crouched in front of her as Alice used her Aether to pin her own aunt down. He shook his head, asking. ''Why do you hate me so much? I haven't even known you a day!''

''You killed my lover! Your father rejected me when we were younger and chose your bitch of a mother,'' Sasha spat with venom. ''No wonder my brother keeps me away from Jasper! I hate you.''

''Huh?'' he replied, confused. ''Killed your lover? Who's that?''

''One of the nobles you killed during the attack on the palace,'' Alice revealed, green eyes wide with shock and horror.

Just then, several people entered the manor but were stopped by the Fusion Soldiers, who sent Raegar a message. He sighed in frustration as he glanced at the blonde. ''Your father and mothers have arrived.''

Alice exhaled sharply, her frustration noticeable, but Arthur pulled Sasha by picking the older woman up by the neck as the group neared the angry Duke Tyrone. The man's anger softened upon seeing his youngest daughter, though when he saw his sister, it flared until her mother, Maria, stepped forward.

''Raegar Blackwood,'' she said, looking at him with green eyes that matched her daughters. ''What's the meaning of this?'' 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

''Sasha is working with someone to assassinate me,'' he answered honestly. ''She charmed me, showed me the side of her I wanted to see, but Alice here saved me.''

Everyone turned to the blonde, smiling as the harem hugged her, saying thanks for helping their lover. After that, the Sunfire Soldier approached Arthur, who threw the snarling Sasha at them as the Duke approached Raeger, looking apologetic, but the older man was interrupted by his next words.

''I don't blame you, Tyrone,'' he reassured. ''I accept I'm hated by most nobles and know they'll plot to attack me.''

''I guess it's good that you have those strong warriors,'' his father-in-law nodded toward the Blue Knight Arthur. ''I heard about the rebel army that was wiped out. You impressed your big brother Jasper, he wrote to me about your feats spreading across the empire.''

Raegar chuckled at this, a smile crossing his face. ''Well, it comes to a person when the empress proposes, but I hope you don't mind us staying here for the next day or two, before we head back to Drakenwood.''

The older man eagerly nodded. ''Of course, son. You're engaged to my Alice after all, which means we're now family.''

''Yes, bet you love rubbing it in with grandfather,'' he answered, holding back a chuckle.

When Tyron heard this, he sighed. ''Damn Griffin loves it, especially with four of his grandsons married or marrying one of my many daughters.''

Following that, Raegar dismissed the Fusion Soldiers, allowing his father-in-law to take control of the situation. The group was ushered toward a lounge where Maria, Sienna, and Margret, the Dukes' wives, wanted to get to know the women, causing him to go find Tyrone, who was sitting in the garden, drinking some ale.

When the older man spotted him, a smile lit up his face. ''My boy! Come join me, I heard you like a good drink!''

Raegar shook his head. ''No, thank you, I stopped drinking that stuff. The harem thought I was becoming a drunk.''

After he shouted, A Cat Demi-human emerged from a nearby door, clad in a maid's uniform, which puzzled Raegar. The Duke, still chuckling, explained. ''This is Katia, my fourth wife. We met years ago on the Eastern Continent, and she's been my shadow ever since.''

Raegar studied the newcomer. Her feline features and stern expression reminded him of an Asian woman from Earth, but clearly she came from this world. He shook his head and greeted her. ''Hello, I'm Raegar...''

''I know who you are,'' she interrupted him, her yellow eyes narrowed at him. ''You're marrying the Death Ghost, the daughter of the Death Blade, who is now married to your father.''

''Oh, Saki? She's lovely! Didn't know she's known as the Death Blade,'' Raegar exclaimed when remembering his new mother. ''And Yuki is skilled but harmless unless you threaten me.''

Katia shook her head. ''I'm not threatening you, young master. I have much respect for those two, our tribe's our allies on the Eastern Continent, but most of us scattered around the world when the Fall happened.''

When Raegar heard this, his red eyes widened in shock as he jumped up. ''You know of the Fall?''

''Of course I do,'' the catwoman replied, confused. ''There are many books on the subject. Would you like one?''

''Yes please!'' he answered.

Following that, Katia rushed off, leaving Tyrone confused as he questioned. ''What was that about?''

''You'll find out when you meet the empress,'' Raegar explained, sitting down again as Nivara appeared, holding a hot chocolate.

''Here you go, Rae,'' she said, smiling at him. ''It will help you calm down.''

The Duke was confused as the Dark Elf appeared out of nowhere, causing him to glance around, but Nivara explained. ''I can travel using the shadows, to keep close to Raegar here. You never know when assassins will attack.''

''Interesting,'' Tyrone muttered just as Katia reappeared, making the older man jump.

Raegar chuckled as the catwoman handed over the book. ''This will tell you everything about what happened on the Eastern Continent. It's told from the point of view of one of the survivors who came from a northern tribe that held out the longest.''

He took the thick book and thanked Katia. ''Thank you, I love reading and haven't found much about the Fall. I know many other events happened across the world, but this is one of the hardest to find sources about.''

The catwoman smiled. ''Maybe you should ask Saki, she was one of the top generals in her tribe; she may know more or have other accounts of such things.''

Following that, Katia turned to the Duke. ''We need to leave, we only returned thanks to Maria's bad feeling, but if this continues, we'll be late for the meeting, master.''

''Stop calling me that, Kat!'' Tyrone protested. ''We're husband and wife!''

Raegar chuckled at their interaction as the Duke turned to him and suddenly hugged him. ''You're welcome to stay here, son. We must meet up once this meeting is over. I'd like to get to know the man who makes my daughter this happy.''

''I'll visit on my way back from the Western Islands,'' he replied to the older man.

This made Tyrone chuckle as he teased. ''Oh, Duchess Westfall, I heard about that. She's a unique woman and is seen as a villainess.''

Raegar nodded. ''Yes, she is different, but that's what I like about it,'' he admitted.

The older man laughed harder and slapped him on the back. ''Good, my boy. Enjoy your time traveling, and I'll make sure Sasha gets punished for what she did. I'd prefer to keep it in the family than involve the Imperial Guard.''

''Alright,'' he answered.

Afterward, Tyrone and his three wives rushed out of the now quiet manor as Zahara, Dominique, Alice, Nivara, and Drusilla appeared from the entrance, making their way toward him with worried smiles crossing their faces. The Half-Elf rushed up to him, sending fresh Aether into his body.

Raeagr shivered at this and smiled as it refreshed him before taking a sip of the hot chocolate the Dark Elf brought to him. The sweet drink sent warmth shooting through his body like a wave, making him sigh in relief. He shook his head and glanced at the brown-skinned blonde. ''Thanks for that, Za. I didn't get hurt, though, so that's one good thing.''

''You're welcome, handsome,'' Zahara replied, giving him a beautiful smile that made his heart race.

''I can't believe you were attacked while we were gone,'' Selene sulked. ''I wanted to have a good fight.''

Everyone laughed at this. Dominique was the next one to talk. ''When are we leaving for school? It starts in a week.''

The harem looked at Raegar, who waved their worry away. ''We can use Marlow to get back if we end up being late. The Wyvern can fly fast and get us to Drakenwood in no time.''

The women shared warm smiles as the group began to unwind, the room's crackling fire warding off the chill. Alice offered tea, which he and the others accepted. Sinking into a chair, he focused on restoring the Aether he'd expended battling the assassins and leveling up.

Raegar shut his eyes, his breathing steadying as he channeled his energy in a slow, deliberate circuit through his body. The Aether hummed softly within him, its faint warmth weaving through strained muscles and mending the tiny rips and bruises sustained in the fierce clash with the assassins.

Each pulse of energy soothed the aches, knitting together the subtle tears in his flesh and spirit, restoring his strength as the firelight flickered across his features as the others began gossiping about the upcoming classes.
