After Apocalypse, I Got Rich With Superpower-Chapter 48 - 46 Contract
Chapter 48: Chapter 46 Contract
Chapter 48: Chapter 46 Contract
After signing the electronic contract with Xie Ling, Xue Dong and Qin Jianzhong headed back to the base to buy the items needed for the farm and to exchange for some seeds for autumn planting, hoping to get some grains and vegetables in the ground before the end of the year.
No.7 Farm had been run by someone else for more than half a year; most things, including the house, had been installed and built. While it had basic facilities, it lacked higher-end ones. Seventy acres of land had been cultivated, but at a loss–they didn’t recoup their investment.
After the farm was reclaimed, the base had sent people for an inspection, and everything was on record—nothing was amiss.
“We’ll also need some water pipes because we’re planning to cultivate another thirty acres, a full hundred acres altogether. We’ll need everything for the sprinkler system,”
“We don’t have enough farm tools, and we need insulation cotton as well; I’m afraid the houses are too cold. People will need to live there while they open up the land. If necessary, I will stay there myself.”

Qin Jianzhong also gave some suggestions.
“We’ll need mutant animals for guarding the house, and we also need netting for the farm’s boundary. Later on, you’ll have to build your own walls,”
the Base Commander added.
“Seeds,”
“If you run out of anything, just call me. I’ll send someone to deliver it to you,”
“Okay, that will do for now,”
After thinking it over, Xue Dong discussed with Li Pan and Qin Jianzhong, “The kids can’t handle hard tasks. They won’t be able to work a hundred acres, and we still need to look after the adults. Let’s firstly get the land opened up and planted. It’s been three months since the lease expired, and the fields are overgrown with weeds.”
“There are people in our team. I can arrange some for you to work short-term — just barter with some food, and if there isn’t enough food, they can put it on a tab,”
“It won’t come to that,”
“Get it done in one go. Time waits for no one. There’s only a month and a half left before autumn is over. If we don’t hurry, winter will be upon us, but before winter, we can still plant wheat, sweet potatoes, and vegetables.”
Qin Jianzhong planned in his mind that they must cultivate a hundred acres, starting with wheat and wheat straw.
“I need a few superpower users. I’ll pay them according to the rules, with coarse grains. I haven’t reserved so much wheat. I’m afraid there won’t be enough for our own people.”
“That’s doable,”
The Base Commander knew how much flour he had set aside. It was fine grain, all given away; the farm would have no food otherwise.
“I need Wood Element, Earth Element, Water Element, Wind Element or Gravity system, and even Gold Element users. I’m worried the houses won’t meet the requirements; it will be cold in winter. We might need to add on or remediate. She didn’t build a breeding area—that needs to be constructed. Raising some livestock and poultry is also a source of income.”
“That’s fine, we have a surplus of red bricks and cement right now. Nobody else is building houses, so prioritize your needs,”
“Alright, that’s enough for now. Tomorrow I’ll call you, let you know if anything’s missing and then bring it to me. Also, send over some coal—people need to live and keep watch there, and we can’t solely rely on burning wood; it’s not efficient.”
“Agreed,”
The Base Commander accepted all requests in one go.
“Do we have any mutant animals that are good for guarding the house, ones that are smart and obedient?”
“We have military dogs, mutant cheetahs, and Golden Eagles.”
“Let’s go have a look.”
Xue Dong and the others first visited the Beast Garden. The two military dogs were a given: obedient and intelligent, following specific commands—one Wind Element, the other Thunder Department.
The mutant cheetah was Wind Element, with exceptional speed, adept at hunting, especially active at night. The Golden Eagle was Gold Element, a master of high-altitude hunting.
“I’ll take the two military dogs, the cheetah, and also the Golden Eagle,”
Xue Dong thought carefully; safety was more important. Attacks by mutant animals were like tidal waves, and their farm needed guardians to protect it.
“I have two farms, and the Wolf pack is around too. If you’re willing to go with me for a long-term collaboration, I can ensure you won’t go hungry. My only requirements are that you must be obedient, not cause any trouble, guard the house, protect the courtyard, and keep watch over the food,”
All four remaining animals agreed. Life at the base was becoming increasingly difficult, and one could tell just from the food situation. It was better to go out and find a good owner now, as there might be better days ahead.
The animals will go with the workers tomorrow to sign the contract. Their contract is a Blood Contract, which the Wolf pack had each signed before. The Blood Contract is binding for everyone.
After sorting out various affairs, they went to the marketplace to buy some personal items, as well as some salt and sugar, since the base made fixed purchases and they would buy some each time they went there.
They also bought some fabric to make curtains for the empty house they had moved out of, and then made arrangements with the carpenter who made furniture last time to come and make furniture in a couple of days.
The house was completely empty—a bare shell with nothing inside.
They purchased more than twenty jars for pickling vegetables and the iron racks for the house, getting a set of everything they had at No. 8 Farm; otherwise, there would be nowhere to hang meat and the like. With more people coming, they needed to store food, meat, and vegetables before winter arrived.
After shopping, they took the children and squeezed into a tricycle to go home. Fortunately, Li Pan had a space where they could just fit, but Qin Jianzhong couldn’t squeeze in, so he went back with people from the base to check the delivered supplies.
When Liu Qian saw that there were several new children back at home, she was momentarily stunned.
“We’ve rented the No. 7 Farm diagonally across from us. We can’t take this month off; we still have to work hard for two more months.”
Xue Dong explained the situation to Liu Qian in detail.
After listening, she nodded happily, “That’s good news. We won’t have to worry about running out of food in the future. Let’s go to the farm now to see what the situation is, so we can better plan the work.”
“You kids stay and watch the house; we’re going to take a look. We need to start working tomorrow.”
“Okay. Go ahead, brother. I’ll take them to get familiar with the farm. I need to inspect the crops and infuse some superpower into the land.”
Zhang Qi and Zhang Yu changed into work clothes and took their younger siblings with them to work.
“Fill up those two water storage tanks. I plan to move two ponds to breed fish and shrimp, to increase the farm’s income next year.”
“Okay.”
“Brother, take me with you. I’m an Earth Element user; I can plow the land.”
Yang Zhengfei jogged up to them, volunteering. His grandfather had said that the brother and sister had done them a great favor by feeding them, and he mustn’t be lazy when working.
“We don’t need land plowing today. You’ll work with your brother.”
“Okay.”
Xue Dong took Liu Qian, Li Pan, and the Wolf King with him to the neighboring farm, located diagonally across from their own. It was about a half-hour walk away—not too far off.
No. 7 Farm backed onto a mountain and had a river flowing through it, consisting almost entirely of plains, unlike their own valley which also had slopes and mountainous land. No. 7 Farm was considered to be in a very good location in all respects and was acquired through fierce competition to secure it first.
They drove the tricycle into the farm through the iron gate for which they had a key.
Upon entering, they saw it was all overgrown with grass—as they had expected.
Further inside, they could see a pretty decent two-story building from a distance.
The surroundings were all plains now almost completely covered with grass, which stood as tall as a person, indicating how fast it had grown. Occasionally, wild chickens and ducks would fly by.
The river cut through the center of the farm, so there was no shortage of water.
The boundary used to be marked with wire fencing and barriers, but those had been dismantled. They were probably sold to compensate for losses.
“Looks like the first priority tomorrow is to install boundary fences.”
“Might as well have the Gold and Earth Element users cooperate to build a brick wall. We have red bricks, and we also have some green bricks at home. Let’s use them all. This is our farm now; we can’t cut corners. Without proper defenses, mutant animals could easily breach them and cause trouble.”
Liu Qian shook her head, disapproving of using wire fencing, which was only a temporary fix. Wild bulls grew as big as mountains and could easily break through; such a fence was useless.
“Alright, your call. I’ll phone and order more bricks. While we have enough people, let’s get the job done.”
