After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 895: The Beauty of Reunion
This place was originally where Natalie Niles hid to recuperate, and now it has become their rendezvous spot.
It seems like everything was destined.
Natalie touched Connor’s chest; his heartbeat was fast and strong.
She then touched her own, and it seemed there was no significant change, still as calm as an ancient well.
She felt a bit deflated, "I thought this kind of affair would make me very excited, but why doesn’t it?"
Connor laughed, "What affair? You are my girlfriend, in a very official, legitimate way. You should be excited, not because of the affair, but because you’re seeing me." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
He had long since given up the habit of feeling her pulse.
People used to say that few women can walk out of their boyfriend’s or husband’s phone happily; from the moment you look at his phone, you should be prepared—the secrets hidden in his phone will make you question your seemingly beautiful relationship.
Connor felt that he couldn’t walk happily away from Natalie Niles’s pulse either, so he simply stopped touching it. Otherwise, he’d always question whether she truly loved him.
She’s different from ordinary people, a pulse doesn’t represent everything.
He felt around the wall for a bit, triggered a mechanism, and then picked her up to carry her out.
Natalie was surprised, "You’re taking me out? Aren’t you afraid they’ll see us?"
"Without my order, no one will come in. I don’t want you to feel wronged, the secret room is too plain."
With his change in status, some of Connor’s habits were also quietly changing.
The bedroom might not be as splendid as a palace, but it was much better than the secret room.
He wanted Natalie to be comfortable, wanted to respect her, to love her.
Natalie understood his intentions, she hugged Connor tighter, and her heart finally changed its rhythm.
He has always been a warm person, someone who remains warm even after experiencing endless darkness.
His warmth is inherent, reflected in every aspect of life.
For a moment, Natalie even hoped he wasn’t some Prince.
She only wished he was the original Connor, who, after being manipulated by her, fell hopelessly in love with her, treated her well, unconditionally relented, and unconditionally tolerated her misdeeds.
Tears overflowed, dripping onto Connor’s arm.
Connor’s movement while carrying her stiffened, he urgently lifted her head, "Natalie, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? Don’t scare me?"
Natalie was the type who wouldn’t cry even if she lost a limb, and suddenly seeing her cry wrenched Connor’s heart.
Natalie said nothing, lowered her head, and kissed his neck, absorbing his warmth.
She liked him like this, being concerned about her, ignoring her inhuman side like a fool, waking up her long-dead conscience with his love.
Connor gently stroked her hair, "Did you miss me too much? Natalie?"
Natalie shook her head, "It’s not because of that."
"Then why are you crying?"
"I just felt like crying, is that not okay?"
"It’s not that it’s not okay, I haven’t done anything yet, and you’re already crying, what will happen later if I do something?"
Connor wiped her tears, his heart racing, "You have no idea how much I miss you."
"Really?"
"Truer than gold!"
"I thought you and Miss Kaylee were hitting it off, always touring the city together."
Connor laughed, even his tone turned particularly relaxed, "Oh, my dear Natalie is getting jealous, how rare."
