After Giving Birth, All My Beast Ex-Husbands Suddenly Want Me Back-Chapter 132: Tainted flowers
"Do you still have more jewelry? I’d like to buy some from you," one female asked Aviel.
Another was even more straightforward. "Hello, I quite like you. Would you be willing to become my mate?"
A male this handsome, with such an impressive figure and bearing—what a waste it would be not to claim him as a mate. Besides, if he became her mate, she could have him make jewelry for her whenever she wanted.
A perfect arrangement.
"I... I like your type too," another female chimed in eagerly. "Why don’t you choose me? I treat my mates very well."
From the side, Nina watched the scene unfold, thoroughly entertained.
Females in this world are really direct.
Aviel’s expression remained cool and distant. "I’m sorry. I only make jewelry for Nina—and I will only be her mate."
The females glanced between Aviel and Nina. After a brief sigh, they gave up and stepped away without further insistence.
If he’s already Nina’s guardian, then forget it.
None of them intended to steal a male from a friend.
Nina felt a little awkward.
It felt as though she had been happily watching gossip from the sidelines... only for the gossip to suddenly involve her.
Soon, the females’ attention returned to Nina.
"Nina, the hide your dress is made from looks so unique! Can I touch it?"
Nina nodded.
Immediately, the females crowded around her again, pushing Odian and the others aside once more. They began examining her dress closely, soon launching into an excited discussion about its material and design.
Odian and the others could only retreat helplessly to the side.
Tonight, Nina had been completely monopolized by the females.
After chatting for a while, the beastfolk suddenly added more wood to the bonfire. The flames leapt higher, lighting up the square.
Many beastfolk gathered around the fire, dancing in lively circles. They hummed unfamiliar melodies and occasionally let out spirited shouts.
"Nina, let’s go dance!" one female said, grabbing Nina’s hand.
"Ah? I don’t know how," Nina replied.
"It’s fine. Just follow us—it’s really simple," the female said, gesturing toward the fire. "Look, everyone’s dancing."
Nina looked over.
Sure enough, dozens of beastfolk were already dancing around the fire.
"Come on, Nina, let’s join them," Aina said, tugging her along.
Before Nina could protest further, the enthusiastic females had already pulled her into the dancing crowd beside the blazing fire.
Soon, Nina was moving along with them, following their steps.
Within moments, she disappeared into the sea of dancing beastfolk.
Odian and the others stiffened when they realized she had vanished into the crowd.
Anxiously, they began scanning the dancers, trying to find her again.
When Shui saw that Nina had been separated from Odian, she sensed an opportunity.
She called over a small cub, leaned down, and whispered a few instructions into his ear. Then she handed him a bit of food.
The cub, delighted with the treat, ran off to find Odian.
"Mister, Lady Nina asked me to give this to you," the cub said innocently. "She said she’ll be waiting for you in the forest over there."
He held out a small bouquet of vivid red flowers.
Odian frowned slightly as he took them. Almost immediately, he sensed something wrong.
A fine powder had been sprinkled across the petals—a substance used to stimulate desire.
His eyes sharpened.
Nina would never use something like this.
If she truly wanted him, there would be no need for such tricks.
Glancing around, he quickly noticed Shui watching from not far away.
Odian crouched down and subtly gestured in her direction.
"Did that lady over there give this to you?"
The cub nodded eagerly. "Yes!"
Odian let out a quiet, cold laugh.
That foolish female again.
A dark glint flashed across his eyes. Deliberately, he lifted the flowers and inhaled deeply—making sure Shui could see.
Then, unseen by others, he added a little extra "ingredient" of his own to the bouquet.
If you like stirring up heat so much... I’ll make sure you burn properly.
"Take these flowers back to that lady," he told the cub. "Tell her I’ll come over later."
He handed the cub another snack.
The cub happily ran back to Shui and repeated the message word for word.
Seeing Odian sniff the flowers, Shui believed her plan had succeeded. She didn’t suspect anything when she heard his reply.
Holding the bouquet, she breathed in the scent from a distance—and unknowingly inhaled a little of the powder herself.
Odian quietly gave Lex a few instructions before continuing his search for Nina.
At last, one round of dancing ended, and many beastfolk stepped away from the fire.
Odian and the others finally spotted Nina again.
But what they saw made their expressions darken.
A group of males had already surrounded her, offering gifts and confessing their feelings.
"Lady Nina, I’ve already reached the fifth rank. Would you consider accepting me as your mate?" one male said shyly.
"Lady Nina, I’m the tribe’s strongest warrior. Would you accept my gift?"
Atai stepped forward, presenting a fine beast hide. His eyes were filled with hopeful anticipation.
"Lady Nina—"
More and more males crowded around her.
Nearby, Aina and the others watched with amusement.
"Nina is really popular tonight," Aina said with a grin.
Sal immediately stepped forward. His gaze swept across the males like a blade.
"You lot think you’re worthy of pursuing Nina?"
"Hmph! I’m a powerful fifth-rank warrior. Why wouldn’t I be?" one male retorted.
"I’ve already reached the sixth rank," Atai said proudly. "And who are you to stop us from courting Lady Nina?"
Sal snorted coldly. "A mere sixth rank dares to boast in front of me?"
His voice dropped dangerously. "I’m Nina’s guardian. If any of you want to pursue her, you’ll have to get past me first."
"Fine. Then let’s duel," Atai declared.
In the beast world, when males competed for the right to pursue a female, it was common to challenge her guardians or mates to a duel. If the challenger won, the guardian could no longer block the courtship.
Sal’s expression turned disdainful.
"Then let’s duel."
The males moved to an open area nearby, and one by one began challenging Sal.
Watching the situation unfold, Odian turned to Nina.
"Nina, let Sal handle this. They’re no match for him. Let’s head back first."
"But—" Nina had just started to speak when Odian suddenly lifted a hand to his forehead.
His face flushed faintly, and his breathing grew heavier. "Nina... the stuff in the flowers someone gave me earlier seems to be taking effect."
"Flowers?" Nina blinked in confusion. "Who gave you flowers?"
"Someone... I’m not sure?" Odian frowned. "That cub said you sent them. After I smelled them, I started feeling..."
He pulled her into his arms, leaning close. "Nina... I feel terrible."
Realization dawned on Nina immediately. Some female must have used her name to deliver those tainted flowers.
"Wait a moment," Nina said quickly. "Let me see if I can find an antidote."
Odian shook his head, his voice soft and pleading.
"Nina... I don’t want to take medicine. Every medicine has its poison—especially this kind. It wouldn’t be good for a male."
He looked at her pitifully.
"Could you... help me instead?"
Nina hesitated. She already knew how such poison worked, and seeing his miserable expression made her soften.
Blushing, she finally nodded.
Odian suppressed the flash of satisfaction in his eyes. Just then, Kith and the others arrived with the cubs.
Odian swiftly handed the cubs over to them, then scooped Nina up into his arms and flew away.
