Chapter 45: Chapter 45: The Sang Family is Quick to Seek Accountability
The sudden mishap had terrified the lead cameraman; the hunter who followed didn’t even try to rip off Sang Qiao’s name tag but carefully climbed down the slope to rescue her.
Luckily, the height was only about one meter, but Sang Jiao had landed headfirst, resulting in her forehead being covered in blood.
“Miss Sang Jiao, are you alright?”
“It hurts… I’m in so much pain, Qiaoqiao, you…” Sang Jiao kept crying out in pain, looking up at Sang Qiao standing atop the slope with an incredulous expression.
[What does she mean by this? Is she implying that her fall had something to do with Sang Qiao?]
[Isn’t Sang Jiao just being naive? Didn’t she know how to control her own pace when she ran over? Does she think Sister Qiao is so foolish as to just stand there and wait to be knocked over?]
[Damn, that’s a lot of blood on her head. Could it be fatal?]
[Fair’s fair, couldn’t Sang Qiao have reached out to help? It’s just a task. Why care so much about winning or losing?]
This content is taken from freёnovelkiss.com.
[Exactly! Why couldn’t you stabilize Jiaojiao first before running off? You just had to dodge, causing Jiaojiao to fall like that. That’s really selfish.]
Sang Jiao lay motionless on the ground, her breathing growing weak. When the medical staff arrived, they administered emergency aid and then carried her down the mountain to the hospital.
The broadcast’s task was also temporarily suspended due to Sang Jiao’s injury.
Si Chenli strode briskly to the rendezvous point, relieved to find Sang Qiao standing safe and sound.
His gaze shifted and then fell upon her bleeding hand. He walked over quickly, taking her fingertips gently in his. The scars were streaked and fine, not like they were from a fall.
“How did this happen?”
“It’s nothing, not serious.” Sang Qiao only then noticed the injury on the back of her hand, recalling that just now, Sang Jiao had forcefully pinched her, likely causing the injury.
“Come with me.” The man led her to a tent that had been set up temporarily.
A medical kit lay on the table. Because of Sang Jiao’s situation, the tent was empty now. He pulled up a stool next to her, “Sit down.”
Sang Qiao obediently sat, and Si Chenli crouched down in front of her, opening the medical kit and carefully taking out iodine and a cotton swab to cleanse her wound.
His hands were large, the cotton swab visible only as a small stub in his grasp.
Sang Qiao looked down at his sharply defined face and high nose, slightly lost in thought.
He wrapped her minor wound with gauze and then put the medical kit away.
Seeing she was still absent-minded, he spoke softly, “It’s done.”
“Okay, thank you.” Sang Qiao instinctively stood up, but she paused and stared when she saw the treated wound.
Her hand was wrapped in several layers of gauze, the dressing making it look as severe as if it was a serious injury.
Her delicate brows furrowed slightly, “Isn’t this a bit too thick?”
Si Chenli, seeing her hand, fell silent for a moment before speaking slowly, “It’s fine.”
[Brother Li’s bandaging skills are going to kill me, someone might think Sister Qiao needed stitches.]
[What’s there to even bandage for such a minor injury? You guys still have the mood to flirt here while Sang Jiao has been taken to the hospital!]
[Is the person above seriously ill? So, Sang Jiao being taken to the hospital has anything to do with them treating a small wound here?]
[Does the person above mean that everyone should mourn Sang Jiao’s hospitalization with solemn music? Ridiculous.]
Upon leaving the tent, they saw the director hurriedly returning, “Let’s go down the mountain, everyone. We’ll pause the shooting for the next couple of days, Sang Jiao’s injury is quite serious.”
The director, packing up, noticed Sang Qiao’s hand and was taken aback, “Sang Qiao, did you hurt your hand too? Why didn’t you say anything? You should have gone to the hospital with the ambulance.”
“…It’s not serious, just a small cut.” Sang Qiao felt uncomfortable under the director’s concerned gaze.
He shouldn’t have lost his concentration when Si Chenli was bandaging his wound.
The director stared at the bandage that looked like a steamed bun on her hand, hesitating to speak. A minor skin wound shouldn’t be bandaged so lavishly, “… that’s good, let’s go down the mountain now.”
“Qiaoqiao, nothing happened between you and Sang Jiao, right?” Meng Wangge quietly moved closer to Sang Qiao and asked in a low voice.
“Nothing.”
“Then why was Sang Jiao acting so odd? Just now she kept telling the camera that she lost her balance, her eyes were red and she looked so aggrieved. I thought…”
“She has always been like this.” Sang Qiao raised an eyebrow, as expected, Sang Jiao’s tactics never changed.
“It’s a good thing the camera was rolling closely; otherwise, even if you jumped into the Yellow River, you wouldn’t clear your name.” Meng Wangge nodded in agreement, approvingly. Sang Jiao always appeared weak and vulnerable, only speaking halfway, which easily led to misunderstandings.
Sang Qiao chuckled softly, “Indeed.”
Back at the residence.
Sang Qiao changed her clothes and planned to go home since she would have to come back for filming in a couple of days.
Just as she descended the stairs, she saw a black Rolls-Royce parked at the doorway. Si Chenli was sitting in the back seat, the window rolled down, his gaze landing on her.
The man moved his lips, “Get in, I’ll give you a lift on my way home.”
With that being said, Sang Qiao didn’t decline and got in from the other side, “Are you heading straight to Si Group?”
“Yes.”
“I can be dropped off near that crossroads,” Sang Qiao was familiar with that area, the only destination in common between Si Chenli’s granny’s place and his would be the Si Group.
“It’s not much of a detour.” Si Chenli’s expression was relaxed as he looked forward, the top buttons of his white shirt undone revealing his well-defined collarbone.
“Okay.”
The car moved along the road in silence, neither of them speaking until they reached Su Mansion.
Sang Qiao opened the car door to get out, “I’ll go back first.”
“Yes.” The man watched her departing figure until she completely disappeared out of sight before he diverted his gaze back.
Casually, he glanced at the driver in front and said, “She’s not distancing herself from me.”
“This means Miss Sang doesn’t consider you a stranger anymore. Just now, I noticed she secretly glanced at you several times, Mr. Si, I congratulate you in advance on winning the lady’s affection.”
As Si Chenli’s all-round capable assistant, who was also well-versed with his boss’s past, he was a master at flattery.
Si Chenli’s lips slightly curved, “Double the year-end bonus.”
“Thank you, Mr. Si!” The assistant’s voice was filled with excitement.

Su Mansion
Sang Qiao walked in and paused when she saw the person sitting on the sofa. The Sang family sure moved fast. How long had they been here, waiting to confront her as soon as she returned?
Sang Siyang also saw her and stood up, recalling their last unhappy parting which made his speech unpleasant; he couldn’t help but feel slightly nervous, his voice trembling slightly.
“Qiaoqiao, have you returned from filming? I heard you had a day off today so I took leave specially to come over.”
“Just speak your mind.” Sang Qiao looked up at him, her small face calm and composed.
Sang Siyang had a belly full of words he wanted to say, but seeing her indifferent demeanor, he suddenly felt at a loss.
He opened his mouth, “I…”
