After leaving the team, the adventurer ladies regretted it deeply-Chapter 713 - 499, Quirky Pet, Opening the Treasure Chest
Chapter 713: 499, Quirky Pet, Opening the Treasure Chest
Lin Da: “Other than Taige, does anyone have any other ideas?”
“Why are you ignoring me.” Taige muttered dejectedly.
Monica: “Could it be fear? Little kids usually cry when they wake up, right? That’s what I read in books.”
Anna chuckled and said: “Maybe she’s missing her mom.”
Tasya bent down and studied the little girl for a while, hesitating: “Maybe she wants someone to hold her?”
The team members each gave their opinions.
Lin Da said to Anna: “You try holding her.”
As the most physically defensive member of the team, Anna stepped forward confidently.
“Come here, let big sis hold you. Soft and comfy, isn’t it?”
“Wah wah wah!”
Seeing Anna’s chest that’s even flatter than a Xiaolongbao, the little girl’s cries grew louder.
Anna’s face turned dark as coal.
“Captain, it might have to be you. Some wild animals imprint on the first thing they see, treating it as their parent. Maybe she’s already treating you as her mom.”
“Is that so?” Lin Da responded, half-convinced.
He squatted by the stone coffin, reached out to touch the little girl, and murmured to himself: “I don’t know your original name, so I’ll call you Habi for now. It’s the elven translation for ‘snake.’
“Hehehe.” Perhaps naming her had an effect, the little girl began to smile through her tears, her delicate pale hand grasping Lin Da’s finger, licking it like a beast cub.
It felt like the little one was rather close to him.
Just as Lin Da was about to pat “Habi” on the head, pain sharply struck his fingertip, as though bitten by an ant. He looked closely to see Habi baring her sharp little teeth, biting into his finger, and sucking the blood that dripped out.
Though the wound was small, Lin Da had the unsettling feeling that he was being drained—his energy seemed to gush out through the tiny hole, leaving his waist weak and powerless!
“Captain!”
Anna’s expression darkened as she hurriedly pushed Habi away, asking anxiously: “Are you alright?”
“A bit dizzy, but I should be okay.” Lin Da said weakly, pulling out a bottle of green Energy Potion to drink.
The group stared cautiously at Habi.
The little one, after being pushed away by Anna, quietly got up, standing on all fours with an eerie coldness shining in her purple eyes.
She raised her hand, and in the air appeared a massive golden fist.
The fist was formed of Magic Power, as big as a water barrel, its aura imposing.
This was none other than the Light Rank’s Power: Hand of the Void!
Utilizing Battle Qi or Magic Power to solidify air, turning it into one’s tool.
It consumed little energy but packed considerable punch, rivaling Extreme Moon Rank’s Ultimate Skill.
Bang!
The golden fist pummeled toward Anna, unleashing a violent windstorm that lifted the tiles beneath their feet.
“Anna!”
Lin Da shielded himself against the gust with his arm and shouted anxiously.
They saw Anna sent flying, her black armor shattered instantly, embedding her deep into the stone wall.
Swish swish swish!
The team pointed their weapons at Habi.

“Intermediate Healing!”
Green light emanated from Lin Da’s sword, launching a beam toward Anna.
Her health points rose by 12,000, and her complexion finally improved.
Taige said nervously: “Add another shield for me. I’ll take point.”
“No!” Anna crawled out from the stone wall, her gaze fixed on the enraged purple-haired little girl. “If we start fighting, other than Lin Da, everyone here will die!”
“What do you mean by that?” Lin Da asked, puzzled. Why was Anna sure he would be spared?
Anna spoke quickly: “She attacked me, probably just because I pushed her. I suspect she’s simply a mentally undeveloped child.
What we need to do is not to fight her, but to pacify her. If handled properly, she could be used as a pet!”
“Captain, have you heard of Blood Recognition?”
Lin Da froze. Was Anna suggesting Habi drinking his blood had some significance?
But the little one was a living person, not some kind of tool.
“Don’t act rashly yet. Let me try something.” Lin Da said.
To be safe, Lin Da cast a new Verdant Shield on himself and hid an Experience Card in his sleeve.
As Lin Da approached, the anger on Habi’s little face immediately dissipated, her attitude toward him vastly different from how she treated Anna. The drastic shift was akin to a cocky small fry villain suddenly realizing they’d offended a Legendary Adventurer.
The little one babbled and crawled toward Lin Da, her exceptionally long purple hair dragging on the ground, her lips vividly red from the blood she had just sucked.
She looked about five or six years old, yet her hair was long enough for someone in their twenties or thirties, and her mind seemed no more advanced than a baby’s… Lin Da had never seen anyone this peculiar.
When Habi stuck out her tongue to lick her lips, Lin Da couldn’t help but notice something—her tongue was thin, exceptionally long, and when fully extended, over ten centimeters!
This was undeniably not a normal human!
Lin Da felt a chill in his heart and wanted to withdraw his hand. But seeing Habi’s hopeful eyes, would pulling back risk angering this little creature?
He decided to conserve the Experience Card, unwilling to waste it here.
This was a Trial with a recommended level of only 46—perhaps Habi was part of the “reward item” sequence. Lin Da reassured himself internally.
Bracing himself, Lin Da scooped Habi into his arms.
The little one laughed merrily, rubbing her cheek against Lin Da’s chest, even sticking out her tongue to lick his neck. Whether this was a sign of affection or her appetite for his body remained uncertain.
Anna leaned closer out of curiosity, only for Habi to pout her lips and raise her hand, conjuring another golden fist in the air.
“Stop!” Lin Da, noticing this in time, sternly commanded. Though unsure of his control, he shifted the Experience Card from his sleeve to his palm.
“Boohoo.” Habi tilted her neck back, withdrawing her hand and dissipating the golden fist.
Lin Da finally exhaled in relief. Though uncertain if he was her “master,” it seemed Habi could follow his orders to a degree.
Lin Da continued testing, poking Habi’s cheek, checking under her clothes for scales, and giving her a piece of bread to eat. The little one showed no resistance to any of it.
