After Prison I Rushed into Marriage with a Comatose Tycoon-Chapter 108: No Need to Investigate Further
Eliza Sutton took a deep breath and found the warehouse supervisor, asking him to arrange for people to help her organize the warehouse.
The warehouse supervisor was shocked. "Designer Sutton, didn’t Mr. Walker explain things to you when you arrived?"
"Explain what?" A bad feeling crept into Eliza Sutton’s heart.
The supervisor said, "Mr. Walker gave the order. I’m to take all the warehouse staff to work on other matters. This time, we’ll have to rely on Designer Sutton to organize the warehouse by herself. If you’re dissatisfied, you can call Mr. Walker, or your superior, Manager Preston. I have to get back to work now."
After saying this, the warehouse supervisor left.
Eliza Sutton looked at the chaotic mess of fabrics in the warehouse, took a deep breath, and got to work.
Eliza Sutton worked for the entire day. She barely even stopped for a proper lunch, just grabbing something quick. By the time she finally finished organizing the warehouse, she was completely exhausted.
Eliza Sutton wiped the sweat from her brow, twisted open a bottle of mineral water, and began to drink deeply. Her gaze subconsciously swept across the warehouse.
Suddenly, Eliza Sutton froze mid-drink. She shot to her feet and strode to the main door to open it, but it wouldn’t budge.
The warehouse door was locked.
Eliza Sutton laughed.
’Brenda Preston really seizes every opportunity to torment me, terrified I might have a moment’s peace.’
But to think a mere warehouse could trap her was an absurd fantasy.
Eliza Sutton brought up the warehouse’s digital lock interface.
A faint blue glow illuminated her face, her expression growing calmer by the second.
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP—
Following the continuous electronic sounds, the warehouse door swung open.
Thinking of Brenda Preston, who kept pushing her luck, Eliza Sutton took out her phone and quickly typed. Ten minutes later, a slender figure walked into the warehouse with hurried steps.
"Shane, where are you?"
Brenda Preston called out as she entered.
Just then, with a SLAM, the warehouse door shut behind her.
"Open the door! Hurry, open the door!"
Brenda Preston’s frantic shouts echoed from inside the warehouse, but it was already after closing time. Who would still be around?
「At the sanatorium.」
Eliza Sutton, wearing a large surgical mask, walked in. Erik Irvine, who had been waiting at the entrance, immediately came forward to greet her.
"Doctor, you’re here." Erik Irvine’s gaze swept over Eliza Sutton.
"Mm," Eliza Sutton grunted in response.
Her voice was a hoarse rasp, completely different from her usual tone. No matter how well someone knew her, they would never associate this sound with Eliza Sutton.
Erik Irvine said, "Doctor, I am President Lockwood’s secretary. While I’m not as powerful as him, I can still handle minor troubles. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything."
Hearing this, Eliza Sutton glanced at Erik Irvine.
’Like master, like subordinate. I’d already straightened myself up before I got here, but he still noticed something was off.’
"Thank you," Eliza Sutton replied coolly before walking into Shane Lockwood’s room.
The man on the bed was even thinner than before, his face pale. However, the dark, sickly aura that had clung to his features was gone, and there was a hint of vitality returning to the corners of his eyes.
Eliza Sutton took Shane Lockwood’s pulse, then took out her Golden Needles.
The tiny Golden Needles seemed to carry an imposing whistle as they pierced Shane Lockwood’s skin.
Her fingertips brushed past them, and the Golden Needles emitted a low hum, a sight that was astounding no matter how many times one witnessed it.
While performing the acupuncture, Eliza Sutton also wrote out a prescription and had Erik Irvine go fetch the herbs.
By the time she was finished, an hour had passed.
Eliza Sutton packed away her Golden Needles, preparing to leave.
Erik Irvine immediately offered, "Doctor, let me see you home."
Eliza Sutton’s gaze drifted toward him, a ghost of a smile on her lips. "Secretary Irvine, I know you’re loyal. But under the current circumstances, the best way to show that loyalty is to ensure Shane Lockwood safely gets through this ordeal, not to be curious about my private affairs. Don’t you agree?"
Erik Irvine immediately bowed his head, saying apologetically, "I’m sorry. I overstepped."
"I don’t want there to be a next time. And I also don’t appreciate having a few little tails following me every time I leave. If I were to lose control and... deal with them permanently, that would be unfortunate, wouldn’t it?"
Erik Irvine bowed even deeper. "I am very sorry, Doctor. I guarantee it won’t happen again."
Eliza Sutton snorted coldly and got into her car.
Erik Irvine stood at the sanatorium entrance, watching Eliza Sutton’s car until it disappeared around a bend. Only then did he straighten up. As he turned around...
...he saw a young nurse rushing over.
Erik Irvine’s heart skipped a beat. He had just started toward her when he heard the nurse’s excited voice.
"Secretary Irvine, President Lockwood is awake!"
Erik Irvine hurried back and, sure enough, saw that Shane Lockwood was awake.
"President Lockwood." Erik Irvine rushed over, nearly weeping with joy. "You’re finally awake!"
God only knew how agonizing these past few days had been for him as a secretary, with Shane Lockwood unconscious and on the brink of death.
"I’m not dead? Who saved me? Did the Shadow Division find Quillon Croft?"
"No," Erik Irvine said. "But they found Quillon Croft’s disciple. She was the one who saved you!"
"Quillon Croft’s disciple?"
"Yes. This disciple of his is the famous Ghost Doctor. It’s a good thing she appeared when she did, otherwise things would have been truly dangerous this time."
"Where is she?"
"She’s already left," Erik Irvine said. "The Ghost Doctor refused to stay overnight. I tried having people follow her before, but she always shook them off. She just warned me again, and I was worried about provoking her and affecting your future treatments, so I didn’t dare arrange for our people to follow."
Shane Lockwood said, "She’s cautious. You don’t need to investigate the Ghost Doctor’s identity any further."
An image of the figure he had seen in the operating room suddenly flashed through Shane Lockwood’s mind.
Shane Lockwood asked, "What’s the situation outside?"
Erik Irvine immediately began to report on the situation.
「The next day.」
In the design department of the Lockwood Group, Eliza Sutton sat at her workstation, sketching a design.
She had never met Pearl Lockwood, but she had seen a photograph of her.
The young woman stared directly into the camera, her chin slightly raised, her expression one of pure arrogance, like a lofty princess.
Eight years younger than Shane Lockwood and fiercely protected by her brother and mother, Pearl Lockwood was indeed a princess in every sense of the word.
A girl like that lacked nothing, and an ordinary formal gown wouldn’t be enough to impress her.
Suddenly, Eliza Sutton thought of the design that had made her famous.
The design of that gown was novel and bold, perfect for a young woman. However, a coming-of-age ceremony was typically a more formal occasion, so it was a bit unsuitable and would need some modifications.
Eliza Sutton pulled up her previous work from her computer and began to make changes.
Crystal Harrison walked over and saw the half-finished sketch, exclaiming in admiration, "It’s gorgeous! Is this the design for the young lady?"
"Mm-hmm."
"It’s sure to be the winning design."
"I certainly hope you’re right."
Just then, a scornful laugh echoed nearby.
"Look at her, putting on airs. A criminal who spent five years on a sewing machine in prison now dares to call herself a designer. How ridiculous."
