After Prison I Rushed into Marriage with a Comatose Tycoon-Chapter 110: You’re Not Planning a Murder, Are You
"B-Boiled?"
Erik Irvine’s face changed, and he stammered when he spoke.
Eliza Sutton’s eyebrow quirked up with a hint of amusement. "What? Afraid I’m going to murder your president?"
"Of course not." Erik Irvine had already regained his composure, smiling as he said, "If you wanted to harm my president, you wouldn’t have needed to step forward at all. You could have just watched from the sidelines. That would have been the most advantageous for you."
Eliza Sutton’s gaze turned appreciative. "Not bad. You’ve got some brains."
"..." Erik Irvine did his best to take that as a compliment.
Erik Irvine was quick. Everything was prepared in no time, and Shane Lockwood was helped over.
Because Shane Lockwood had to soak in the bath, his clothes had already been removed, leaving him in nothing but a pair of briefs.
Eliza Sutton couldn’t help but stare. Shane Lockwood’s physique was just too incredible, especially the way it felt to the touch.
Absolutely perfect.
Perhaps Eliza Sutton’s gaze was too brazen, as Shane Lockwood slowly opened his eyes, his line of sight landing right on her.
Meeting Shane Lockwood’s gaze, Eliza Sutton was startled. She felt a strange pang of guilt, but thankfully, her mask hid her expression completely.
Eliza Sutton spoke in her disguised, hoarse voice. "You’re awake?"
Shane Lockwood nodded, his voice carrying the distinct weakness of someone recovering from a serious illness. "My thanks to the Ghost Doctor for this."
"Don’t mention it. Just add a little extra when you’re settling the bill." Eliza Sutton was intentionally cultivating a greedy persona.
Shane Lockwood smiled. "I’ll be sure to satisfy the Ghost Doctor."
The corners of Shane Lockwood’s thin lips lifted, and his pale, handsome face seemed to light up, instantly maxing out his seductive charm.
When Eliza Sutton realized she had been staring, completely mesmerized, she quickly tore her gaze away and said with forced composure, "Sit still. I’m going to begin the needle treatment."
As she spoke, Eliza Sutton took out the Golden Needles and walked over to Shane Lockwood. Just as she had done countless times before, she inserted them into his body.
She then checked the water temperature.
Honestly, she only meant to test the water, but somehow, her fingers brushed against Shane Lockwood’s skin.
As mentioned before, Shane Lockwood’s body felt exceptionally good to the touch. Now that she’d made contact, Eliza Sutton instinctively caressed it a little.
It was pure instinct.
"Does it feel good?"
Eliza Sutton nodded instinctively. Realizing what she’d done, she immediately tried to cover for it. "I was just checking your physical condition."
"Is that so?" Shane Lockwood said, grabbing Eliza Sutton’s wrist and pulling her into the tub.
Caught completely off guard, Eliza Sutton tumbled in. The scalding water made her instinctively cling to Shane Lockwood.
Eliza Sutton was furious. "What are you doing?"
"Didn’t the Ghost Doctor want to check my physical condition? Then come in and give me a proper examination. As the patient, you’re the only one I can rely on."
"Heh," Eliza Sutton sneered. "Then I suppose I should thank Mr. Lockwood for being so considerate."
"The Ghost Doctor is too kind," Shane Lockwood replied, reaching up to remove her mask.
Just as his fingers were about to touch it, a bright glint flashed, and Shane Lockwood’s hand froze in midair.
The look in her eyes had turned cold. In her raspy voice, she said, "President Lockwood, you’ve crossed a line."
"Yes, I suppose I have," Shane Lockwood admitted with a smile, not trying to argue. "I was just curious what the face under the mask looks like. Ghost Doctor, you’re a magnanimous person, so don’t mind me."
"President Lockwood, do you know why they call me the Ghost Doctor?"
"I don’t."
"Because I hold a grudge over the smallest slight," Eliza Sutton said, her voice deliberate and each word sharp. The chill in her eyes was like ice.
"Oh, is that so? Then I have offended you. But since the Ghost Doctor was willing to come and save me, that must mean you have a favorable impression of me. Surely you won’t hold this against me."
"Heh. You guess," Eliza Sutton sneered, climbing out of the tub.
It was still summer, and her drenched clothes clung to her like a second skin. Eliza Sutton could feel his scorching gaze on her, as if he wanted to burn her with its heat.
Eliza Sutton grabbed a nearby bath towel, wrapped it around herself, and opened the door to instruct Erik Irvine, "Bring a change of clothes."
She told him her clothing size.
As expected of a president’s secretary, Erik Irvine showed no surprise at her disheveled state and quickly brought the clothes.
Eliza Sutton quickly changed and returned.
Shane Lockwood said, "Can you let me put my hand down? It’s getting a little sore."
"Is it sore? Good. Maybe now you’ll learn your lesson and realize that you can’t be curious about everything." Despite her words, Eliza Sutton pulled out the Golden Needle.
Shane Lockwood asked, "When can you take out these other Golden Needles?"
"Another five minutes."
"Can we stop heating the water? It’s getting a bit hot."
"Mhm." Eliza Sutton had Erik Irvine turn off the heater.
"Thank you," Shane Lockwood said.
Eliza Sutton grabbed Shane Lockwood’s wrist and took his pulse again. His pulse was much stronger than before, and the high temperature had helped expel a good amount of the toxins from his body.
However, Shane Lockwood’s poisoning was the result of long-term accumulation, and many toxins still remained.
"Ghost Doctor, thank you for saving my life this time."
"You’re welcome. Secretary Irvine was very generous. I’m just doing a job for money." Eliza Sutton glanced at Shane Lockwood. "President Lockwood won’t go back on the payment, will he?"
"Of course not."
"Good, then." Eliza Sutton pulled out the Golden Needles.
She had just finished putting away the Golden Needles when she saw Shane Lockwood push himself up on the edge of the tub, trying to stand.
But he had just walked back from the gates of death, and the potent medicinal bath Eliza Sutton had prepared had already left him completely drained.
Eliza Sutton immediately moved to support Shane Lockwood, but it was too late. He was already toppling toward her.
The immense momentum knocked Eliza Sutton to the ground.
She felt a tug at her ear, and her mask was ripped off, revealing her face.
Shane Lockwood saw her clearly, and a flicker of disappointment crossed his eyes.
There was nothing wrong with the face—it was beautiful and young—but sadly, there wasn’t a single familiar feature on it.
"Shane Lockwood, you’ve gone too far!" Eliza Sutton was furious. She pushed him away, grabbed her mask, and put it back on.
’If I hadn’t been extra cautious and worn a prosthetic mask, my cover would’ve been blown today.’
"My apologies, Ghost Doctor. My legs just went numb, that’s why I fell. Thank you for catching me, otherwise I would have hit the floor." Though Shane Lockwood’s words were apologetic, his eyes were filled with regret.
Eliza Sutton took a deep breath, lifted her chin, and said to Erik Irvine, "Help your president to the chair over there."
"Yes, ma’am," Erik Irvine acknowledged and immediately went to help Shane Lockwood.
Eliza Sutton took a scalpel out of the bag she carried with her.
The sharp edge of the scalpel glinted under the light.
Seeing Eliza Sutton brandishing the medical instrument, Erik Irvine felt his scalp tingle and hastily asked, "Doctor, what are you planning to do with that scalpel?"
’Don’t tell me she’s so furious and embarrassed that she’s going to murder my president!’
