Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Kicking a Man When He’s Down

When they saw Master Lockwood, the members of the second branch burst into tears of relief. "Grandfather, you’re here! Please, you have to save us!"

"Dad, you see how outrageous Shane is! He’s going to let a tiger maul his own uncle to death! What would people think if word of this got out?"

"Dad!"

"Shut your mouth!" Master Lockwood snapped. He turned to Shane Lockwood and said with a sigh, "Shane, he’s your uncle, after all. Killing him will tarnish your reputation. You have a family of your own now; it’s not good to be known as the King of Hell."

Eliza Sutton couldn’t help but glance at Shane Lockwood. He remained silent, his expression unreadable.

Master Lockwood averted his gaze and strode over to Lord Lockwood, suddenly whipping out a gun. "You unfilial whelp! How dare you harm your own kin! I’ll put you down myself!"

With that, Master Lockwood fired without a moment’s hesitation.

At the same instant, Shane Lockwood hurled the teacup in his hand.

The impact knocked the gun in Master Lockwood’s hand askew. The bullet, originally aimed at Lord Lockwood’s head, grazed his cheek and shattered the windowpane behind him.

CRASH—

Lord Lockwood collapsed onto the floor in a heap, a puddle of yellow liquid spreading out from under him.

Just like his son Fabian Lockwood, Lord Lockwood had pissed himself in terror.

It wasn’t that he was a coward, but he had just come within an inch of his life.

Master Lockwood frowned. "Shane?"

"Grandfather, I believe you have a point. My uncle and his family have tried to kill me time and again. Though their crimes are worthy of death, they are, after all, my own flesh and blood. I’m not afraid for myself, but I must consider my mother and Emmett. For their sake, I will spare their family of three."

Master Lockwood’s brow furrowed. "Shane, if you weren’t considering this old man’s feelings, I would say the second branch is getting what they deserve."

"Grandfather, they can live, but they can no longer be part of the Lockwood Family."

"Since you’ve chosen to spare them out of consideration for our kinship, I won’t say any more." Master Lockwood turned to the three of them. "Starting today, you are stricken from the Lockwood Family Tree. From now on, you are forbidden to identify as descendants of the Lockwood Family! I’ve already instructed the legal department to liquidate all assets held by the second branch. Everything I ever gave you, I’m taking back. You will not receive a single cent."

Florence Young panicked. "Dad, you can’t do this! If you take away all our assets, how are we supposed to live?"

"If you can’t live, then don’t," Master Lockwood said irritably. "Make another sound, and I’ll finish you myself, right here and now!"

As he spoke, Master Lockwood aimed the gun at Florence Young’s forehead, his finger resting on the trigger.

Florence Young was so frightened she couldn’t utter a word.

Fabian Lockwood lunged forward, shielding Florence Young with his body. "Grandfather, don’t be angry! My mom is just worried about me."

Hiding behind her son, Florence Young trembled, not daring to utter another syllable.

She could feel it—Master Lockwood genuinely wanted her dead.

Seeing that Fabian Lockwood at least knew to protect his own mother, Master Lockwood felt a sliver of relief. He snorted coldly. "Butler Lockwood, get them all out of here!"

With those words, Master Lockwood turned and left with a flick of his sleeve.

"Dad!" Lord Lockwood started to call out to Master Lockwood, but The White Tiger swatted him back with a single paw.

"ROAR!"

The massive roar made Lord Lockwood’s face turn as white as snow.

Butler Lockwood stepped forward with the bodyguards. "Lord Lockwood, Young Master Fabian, The Second Madam. If you please."

"Fine, we’ll go!"

The three of them helped each other to their feet. As they passed Shane Lockwood, Lord Lockwood’s voice was laced with venom. "Shane Lockwood, you’ve won. But if you think you can swallow the Lockwood family fortune for yourself, you’re dreaming! One day, I will take it all back!"

Lord Lockwood had fought his older brother for years. When his brother finally died, he thought power would be his. But now, he was reduced to begging for scraps from his own nephew. ’How could I ever accept this?’

What made it even more galling was that after stirring up so much trouble, he had still lost in the end.

But he was still alive.

And as long as he drew breath, this would not be over.

Shane Lockwood’s expression was placid. "Only you, Uncle, would care so much about the Lockwood family’s meager assets—enough to turn on your own relatives for them."

Lord Lockwood sneered. "Your grandfather is gone. No need to act so high and mighty."

Shane Lockwood didn’t explain further, but what he said was the truth.

’To many, the Lockwood Group was indeed an unattainable corporate giant, but to him, it was still insignificant. If the second branch hadn’t become so obsessed with it, so depraved as to attack him repeatedly, the family rule of passing everything to the eldest heir of the main line might have actually been changed this time.’

Butler Lockwood barked, "What are you all standing around for? Get them out of here immediately!"

The bodyguards swarmed forward, surrounding Lord Lockwood’s family.

"This way, please!"

Like stray dogs, the three of them were thrown out of the estate.

The guests who were about to leave saw them and gathered in small groups, pointing and whispering.

Their stares felt worse than being killed.

Fabian Lockwood immediately flew into a rage. "What are you looking at? Have you never seen someone get kicked out of their family before?!"

After yelling, Fabian Lockwood grabbed his parents and started for home.

’He’d pissed himself earlier, and his pants were still damp. He had to get changed.’

Unfortunately, after walking for over an hour back to their large villa outside the main estate, they saw a group of people walking out of it.

"What are you doing! Who let you into my house!" Fabian Lockwood charged forward, screaming.

A bodyguard glanced at Fabian Lockwood and said, "Young Master Fabian, this is on Master Lockwood’s orders. This villa has been seized."

"On what grounds?! This belongs to our branch of the family! My grandfather can’t just seize it because he feels like it! I’m going in!" Fabian Lockwood shouted, trying to rush inside.

Unfortunately, he only made it two steps before the bodyguards grabbed him. He was then tossed back outside, landing even faster than he had charged in.

The bodyguard looked down on him condescendingly. "Young Master Fabian, I suggest you get a clear picture of the situation. If you try to force your way in again, don’t blame us for what happens next. It wouldn’t look good if you forced our hand, now would it?"

"Fine. Fine. You just wait. You really think I’m helpless just because I’ve left the Lockwood family?"

Fabian Lockwood spat out the threat and left the villa with Lord Lockwood and Florence Young.

The moment they were outside, Fabian Lockwood immediately started calling his old cronies.

"Hello, Benny? It’s Lockwood. Get a villa ready for me, and ten million in spending money. And hurry up."

"What? Who is this? A telemarketer? Not interested, not interested! I’m busy right now, gotta go."

"...The signal’s bad on my end. I’ll call you back another day."

"Lockwood, stop messing with me. All I have is debt, where would I get savings from?"

"...I’m sorry, the number you have dialed is not available at this time."

Fabian Lockwood called every single number in his contacts. People either didn’t pick up, played dumb, or pleaded poverty. Forget ten million and a villa—he couldn’t even borrow a single dime.

"Damn it, those little bastards!"

In a fit of rage, Fabian Lockwood smashed his phone!
