Chapter 54: Chapter 54: I’ll Teach You What It Means to Be as Obedient as a Dog

"What?" Harrison Sutton jumped to his feet. "How did she get sent back?"

Mae Sheffield sneered. "It’s over. I see it now, the Sutton family is finished. Harrison, you’d better think long and hard about how you’re going to explain this to the shareholders, and how you’ll answer to your parents in the afterlife! Won’t they be furious if they find out you destroyed the Sutton family’s legacy for a disgraceful daughter!"

Amelia Sutton came down the stairs, happening to overhear the conversation. A triumphant glint flashed in her eyes; she knew her plan was working perfectly.

She put on a worried expression. "Dad, I know you care about Eliza Sutton, but Mom has a point. We can’t just disregard the Sutton family and the Sutton Group all for one person."

Harrison Sutton’s brows furrowed. "Then what should we do?"

Mae Sheffield said, "If Eliza Sutton wasn’t a daughter of the Sutton family, then what she did would have nothing to do with us."

Harrison Sutton didn’t speak, his eyes filled with conflict.

Amelia Sutton took Mae Sheffield’s hand and said with a sigh, "Mom, don’t be the bad guy for the family’s sake anymore. If Dad insists, then we’ll just have to stand by him and watch the Sutton family go bankrupt and get thrown into the slums!"

The muscles in Harrison Sutton’s face twitched, and in just a few short seconds, he made up his mind.

"The Sutton family absolutely cannot go bankrupt!"

A flash of delight passed through Amelia Sutton and Mae Sheffield’s eyes.

’It worked.’

Just then, Eliza Sutton walked in.

Harrison Sutton hurled a teacup at her, roaring, "Who told you you could come back!"

Eliza Sutton’s expression was indifferent. "Even though I’m married, the Sutton residence is still my home. Is it so strange for me to return?"

"Your home? Harrison has already decided to disown you! From now on, the Sutton family has nothing to do with you!" Mae Sheffield’s gaze was venomous as she looked at Eliza Sutton.

The thought of how Eliza Sutton had plotted against her, destroying her reputation of many years and leaving her covered in these injuries—to the point she still didn’t dare show her face in public—made her want to tear Eliza apart with her bare hands.

"Disown me?" Eliza Sutton looked at Harrison Sutton. "Mr. Sutton, may I ask if this is true?"

"It is. I’ve already had my lawyer draft a statement severing our father-daughter relationship." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"May I ask why?"

"Whose fault is it but yours? Who told you to be so unruly and provoke Master Willow! Do you have any idea how much the Sutton family will lose if the Willow Family decides to pursue this? The Sutton family could go bankrupt!" The more Harrison Sutton spoke, the angrier he became. "Eliza Sutton, even if I’ve wronged you in some ways, I still raised you. You can’t just bite the hand that feeds you!"

Eliza Sutton was silent for a moment before she spoke. "You said it yourself, you did raise me. Though you are cold, heartless, selfish, and have used me in every way possible, I would have still shown you some consideration for the sake of that upbringing. If we are to sever ties, then from this day forward, you and I will have nothing to do with each other."

Harrison Sutton’s expression turned ugly. He had a reasonable suspicion that Eliza Sutton was using this opportunity to insult him, and he had evidence.

Mae Sheffield let out a cold laugh. "Eliza Sutton, there’s no point in playing these games now. I advise you to get the hell out of the Sutton residence if you know what’s good for you. Go find a gutter to hide in, and maybe you’ll manage to save your own worthless life!"

Eliza Sutton ignored Mae Sheffield, her eyes fixed on Harrison Sutton. "And what is your opinion, Mr. Sutton?"

Mae Sheffield immediately interjected, "Harrison, don’t you dare get muddle-headed. Now is not the time to be soft-hearted."

Mae Sheffield added, "Think about the Sutton family! Do you really want to watch the family go bankrupt and all of us get thrown out?"

Amelia Sutton answered a call, her expression anxious. "Dad, this is bad! Chairman Willow is bringing Master Willow over to hold us accountable! Their car has already left the hospital; they’ll be at our house in half an hour at most!"

Harrison Sutton made his decision instantly. "I’ll have the lawyer post the statement severing my father-daughter relationship with Eliza Sutton on the Sutton Group’s official website right now!"

As he spoke, he impatiently made the call.

「Two minutes later.」

A statement announcing that Harrison Sutton was disowning his daughter, Eliza Sutton, appeared on the Sutton Group’s official website. To make sure everyone saw it, he even hired online posters to spread the news.

In just a few short minutes, the news that Harrison Sutton had disowned Eliza Sutton was everywhere.

Just in case, Harrison Sutton also ordered his lawyer to pay a hefty sum to have Eliza Sutton’s name removed from the family register as quickly as possible.

Mae Sheffield went even further, calling over the servants to gather all of Eliza Sutton’s and her late mother’s belongings and throw them into the courtyard. In an instant, the area was a complete mess.

Mae Sheffield and Amelia Sutton stood on the high steps, looking down condescendingly at Eliza Sutton.

"Take these old relics of yours and go. From now on, you have nothing to do with the Sutton family."

Eliza Sutton’s face was like ice. She took out a suitcase and slowly began packing her mother’s scattered belongings into it. Among them was a rosewood jewelry box that was already worn with age; the fall had loosened its lock.

Eliza Sutton carefully packed the jewelry box as well. She remembered it was what her mother had cherished most when she was alive.

Amelia Sutton’s face was full of pity. "Mom, she is still Dad’s child, after all. Why don’t we give her ten thousand? That way she can take it and go find a new life for herself."

"Amelia, you’re just too kind-hearted. It’s a shame some people are so consistently malicious they don’t deserve your goodwill."

Amelia feigned helplessness. "Eliza Sutton, don’t blame my mom. It’s mainly because you went too far before. How about this: kneel and kowtow to my mom as an apology. If you make her happy, I’ll give you a few tens of thousands... how about fifty thousand? Could you even save that much working a sewing machine in prison for five years?"

Eliza Sutton finally finished picking up her mother’s belongings from the ground.

She stood up and looked at them.

Even though she was standing in the courtyard, without the steps beneath her feet, and looked much shorter than Amelia Sutton, the cold aura she exuded completely crushed Amelia’s.

"Amelia Sutton, I told you before to be obedient. It seems you didn’t listen."

For a moment, Amelia Sutton felt a flicker of fear.

The terror of being pushed against the railing by Eliza Sutton, nearly falling into the open air, resurfaced.

But then she looked at Eliza Sutton’s pathetic state, like a kicked dog, and started laughing again. "Eliza Sutton, did you really think you could hold that incident over my head? If you’re still that naive, I truly feel sorry for you. It’s a pity you’ve fallen this far and still haven’t learned your lesson. But that’s alright. I’m sure that now you’ve been kicked out of the family, you’ll definitely learn what it means to be as obedient as a dog in the years to come."

Amelia Sutton’s smile was radiant, but every word she spoke was laced with incomparable venom.

At that moment, a servant from the house hurried over to report.

"Ma’am, Miss, Chairman Willow and Master Willow have come to visit."

"They’re here already?"

Mae Sheffield froze for a second, then hurried into the living room to find Harrison Sutton.

Harrison Sutton quickly came out of the living room. Seeing Eliza Sutton still standing in the courtyard, his eyes filled with disgust.

"What are you all doing? Get her out of here, now!"
