After Prison, She Shocks the World-Chapter 53: The Man Who Mourned Fu Ya (Part 2)
Chapter 53: Chapter 53: The Man Who Mourned Fu Ya (Part 2)
Gu Si’an got out of the car with a cold expression, saying sarcastically, "I thought Film Empress Fu Ying could keep her cool. She just sowed the seeds yesterday, and today she’s already impatient to harvest the fruit."
"I think you’ve misunderstood. I’m just here to look at the scenery."
"Look at the scenery? Can’t you come up with a better excuse? As far as I know, you don’t have any film offers at the moment, so what scenery are you here to see?"
The young security guard looked at Fu Bing, his eyes filled with the hurt of being deceived.
"I am indeed interested in working behind the scenes. I didn’t lie to you."
The young security guard was immediately placated by the goddess.
"Mr. Gu, Big Sis Bing was just talking to us about whether she could ride with us in the patrol car during our property rounds."
Gu Si’an said sarcastically, "She’s insidious and cunning. What wouldn’t she say?"
Fu Bing smiled faintly. "It seems I should just mind my own business in the future to avoid being suspected of ulterior motives. I hope that the next time your family member is bullied, no one comes to their rescue."
Had he really misunderstood? Gu Si’an frowned.
Fu Bing ignored Gu Si’an and said to the young security guard, "Sorry to have troubled you. I’ll go look elsewhere."
"There’s an antique-style villa district in the north of the city. It’s not as strict as here. Big Sis Bing, you can try your luck there," the young security guard still recommended enthusiastically.
"Thank you."
Fu Bing took several unopened bottles of drinks from her car and put them in the security office. Just as she was about to get into her car, Gu Si’an’s voice sounded.
"I’ll take you in."
Fu Bing didn’t stop. "No need."
"Are you playing hard to get?"
Fu Bing really disliked such disrespectful men.
Arrogant!
The only man whose arrogance she could tolerate was Qin Jinhai. She had no interest in tolerating it from anyone else. Even with Qin Jinhai, it was only her youthful ignorance that made her appreciate his sharp, overtly assertive personality. If she were to meet Qin Jinhai now, she wouldn’t be able to stand him either.
Fu Bing reversed her car and quickly drove away from Gu Si’an.
Gu Si’an was left with a face full of exhaust fumes, a rare competitive glint in his eyes.
Fu Bing left Chelli Avenue and went to Yunding Mountain, a place her mother had often mentioned. Standing on Yunding Mountain, she gazed from afar at Chelli Avenue, bathed in sunlight. There lay buildings over a hundred years old, the ancestral homes of Jiangnan City’s prominent families. Those ancient buildings gleamed brilliantly in the sunlight.
Her mother had once lived there, spending her childhood and teenage years. For love, she left home. In the end, the man left too. Only she remained, alone in a foreign land, not daring to return home. Such a delicate woman, one who so needed protection, ended up walking such a lonely path.
Fu Bing let out a shaky breath that seemed to connect to her very organs.
Today was her mother’s death anniversary, yet no one remembered.
A black car drove up the mountain road, stopping at the edge of Yunding Mountain’s viewing point.
Gu Yazheng’s expression darkened when he saw someone on the viewing platform.
The driver’s expression also changed. There’s actually someone here today.
"I’ll ask her to leave right away."
Gu Yazheng looked through the car window at Fu Bing, who was standing by the mountain railing. The mountain wind billowed her dress, the embroidery on it shimmering in the sunlight as if it had come alive. Her slender figure was so reminiscent of *her*.
"No need."
Gu Yazheng got out of the car. He deliberately lightened his footsteps as he approached the figure bathed in sunlight.
Has she forgiven me? Is she willing to come back and see me?
Every step Gu Yazheng took felt like it was treading on his own heart. Nervous, apprehensive. He approached that person with a heart full of remorse, seeking atonement.
Fu Bing heard footsteps and turned her head.
Gu Yazheng saw her face clearly.
Utterly disappointed.
The woman was very beautiful, even more so than the one in his heart. But it wasn’t her.
After the emotional rollercoaster of immense joy followed by deep disappointment, a surge of anger welled up within Gu Yazheng.
"Who allowed you to come here?"
He recognized Fu Bing. Fu Bing resembled Fu Ya in many ways, even their surnames were similar. They both loved to wear dresses with embroidery, classic and elegant.
Fu Bing frowned. "This place shouldn’t be private property."
"Indeed, it isn’t." Gu Yazheng walked to her side. "What are you looking at here?"
"Just casually looking at the scenery. And you?"
"Commemorating an old acquaintance."
Fu Bing’s heart skipped a beat. "Why not just go and talk to them directly?"
Gu Yazheng gazed at the distant Fu Family courtyard, his eyes gentle. "Some people, once missed, are missed for a lifetime."
"Since you’ve already missed them, just let it go. If you can neither let go nor make amends, what’s the use of dwelling on it? Are you just putting on a show for yourself?"
"Young lady, I don’t believe I’ve offended you. Why are you being so aggressive?"
"I’m just speaking the truth. Other than making excuses for yourself, does this provide any benefit or help to your old acquaintance?"
Fu Bing couldn’t help but see things from her mother’s perspective. She had lived with her mother for so many years. Her mother never spoke ill of that man, nor did she accept any new suitors. Her mother’s heart died when that man left.
Gu Yazheng was speechless.
"You’re right."
Fu Bing lost all interest in staying.
She returned to her car and saw that Qin Jinhai had sent a picture of himself paying respects at her mother’s grave.
Fu Bing’s throat tightened. "I’m on the mountaintop where she used to stand as a child, looking at the home she hadn’t returned to for many years."
Qin Jinhai immediately started a video call. "You went to Jiangnan?"
"Mm-hm."
"Reckless."
"My mom was well-behaved her entire life, but does anyone even remember her? Instead of suppressing myself, I’d rather go a little crazy."
"Your way of going crazy is truly special. The first thing you do in Jiangnan is save the daughter of your mother’s love rival."
Fu Bing was speechless. "The girl I saved yesterday?"
"Who else did you think it was?"
"I won’t meddle in such troublesome affairs again."
Qin Jinhai chuckled. "I’m waiting to see you lose your composure."
"You know what happened back then?"
"I know a little. Your mother eloped to Jiangcheng with the man she loved and they had a hard life for a while. The man couldn’t take it anymore, so he ran back to Jiangnan to admit his mistake. He pushed all the blame onto your mother, saying she seduced him, and thus blocked any way for your mother to return home. Since you’re in Jiangnan, you might as well spend some time taking down the Gu Family to avenge her."
Fu Bing didn’t follow his train of thought, instead asking, "When did the Gu Family offend you?"
"They made Fu Ya unhappy, which in turn made you unhappy. Isn’t that the same as offending me? The Gu Family started in the medical field; their foundation isn’t very deep. Recently, they’ve been expanding too quickly, venturing into medical aesthetics. You could propose a collaboration using your beauty formula, give them some hope, and get them to apply for a large bank loan. Then, I’ll have someone sabotage their loan application, shattering their hopes. That way, they’ll become desperate."
"Did you arrange for that man yesterday?"
"That’s right."
Fu Bing felt her scalp tingle. "Qin Jinhai, that girl is still a minor. You actually..."
"All’s fair in war. As long as it achieves the desired effect, that’s all that matters. Besides, she only got slapped a few times and suffered no other harm. Her parents ruined Fu Ya’s entire life. Do you still think a few slaps are too much?"
