Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Bringing Me Food

"Okay, let’s go."

I was the one who took the initiative to meet with Ivan Underwood, so it’s only right that I take him back.

Ivan is currently living in the dormitory apartment arranged by the hospital, which is not too far from where I rent, but it still takes half an hour to get there.

He’s a man of few words, and along the way, neither of us spoke much.

I was feeling somewhat down and didn’t want to say anything.

Once we arrived at the apartment building, Ivan didn’t go up immediately but asked me, "Zoe Hathaway, if things between Henry Preston and Azure Vaughn aren’t as you think, what would you do? Would you reconsider?"

This question was very similar to the one Henry asked, and my answer had not changed, "No, because there are so many thorns already buried in my heart, turning back would only make the pain worse."

Ivan smiled a little, "Indeed, but if there are many misunderstandings and you eventually want to reconsider, I support you."

"You support me?" I was stunned.

Didn’t he say he liked me? Why is he still supporting me to go back?

Ivan chuckled, "Yes, but before that, I will still pursue you until you’re sure of your feelings."

With that, he unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.

Outside the car window, Ivan waved at me as I drove away with a slightly chaotic mood, returning home feeling a bit dazed.

Is Ivan really this... magnanimous?

In the past life, he was very aggressive towards Henry for the sake of Azure, without the slightest hint of backing down, ruining their decades of friendship.

But people do change, and besides, I’m not Azure; I don’t like others fighting over me.

I didn’t sleep well that night, my thoughts were scattered, and many things uncontrollably emerged in my mind, so I asked for leave the next day because I couldn’t bear it.

Sherman Hathaway is quite lenient with me in this regard. He knows I came here just for some training and won’t develop long-term, so he’s more concerned about my health. Upon learning I took leave, he even said he would bring me some food, which I refused, not having the nerve.

Being alone at home, I eat quite simply; in the morning, I made a bowl of noodles, two eggs, and drank a little milk to ensure the little one inside gets balanced nutrition.

After eating, I went back to sleep, not wanting to move or go out.

Until I was half-asleep and heard my phone ring, without looking at the caller ID, I picked up the phone, "Who? What’s up?"

"Julian Jennings said he didn’t see you leave for work this morning, nor come back in the evening, what’s going on?" Henry Preston’s side was a bit noisy, he seemed to be outside, but his voice was very clear.

Clearing up a bit, I glanced at the time on my phone and then out the window, realizing it was already evening!

"I took the day off, resting at home today, nothing’s up." I sat up because I had slept too long, and my voice was a bit hoarse, with a slight sore throat.

"You haven’t eaten?" Henry asked again.

"Um, I’ll get up and eat in a bit." I answered vaguely and then hung up on him.

My stomach was already rumbling, so I reluctantly got up to make food, and upon opening the fridge, I found the supplies running low, lacking the foods I wanted. So, I grabbed an apple to munch and ordered some groceries online.

While waiting for the groceries to be delivered, Crystal Dawson called me on video.

She seemed rounder, her once pointy face turned into an oval shape, with a rosy tint and bright, lively eyes, clearly a sign of a happy marriage and a good life.

Silas Lockwood, that playboy, became unusually family-oriented after getting married, earnestly working at the company, eight to five, and rushing home to be with Crystal Dawson after work.

"Last night, I grilled Silas Lockwood a lot, but he didn’t spill any more about Henry and Azure’s situation. Want me to press him again tonight?" Crystal Dawson asked, seemingly prioritizing friendship over love.

"No, no, I don’t care about it anymore." I quickly reassured her, "Don’t stress yourself out, if Silas Lockwood tells you everything, Henry won’t let him off easily, at least give him some leeway."

Crystal Dawson was still upset, "Damn it, even if not for you, but for me, I’m pissed! He thinks Azure is just a little girl with some petty thoughts but not bad intentions. Damn, I get mad just thinking about it, wanting to beat him senseless, who cares if my kids lose a foolish father!"

I nearly choked on my apple, coughing a couple of times before replying, half-amused, "Don’t be so excited, didn’t you already know Silas Lockwood? He must be fooled by Azure’s facade, don’t blame him."

Crystal Dawson snorted through her nose, "Damn, are all men blind? Can’t they distinguish between a manipulative woman? In business, they’re all cunning foxes for thousands of years, facing a manipulative woman, they’re all like Samuel Hathaway!"

Samuel Hathaway would be in tears, his love for Susanna Bright was genuine!

After ranting about Silas Lockwood for a good ten minutes, Crystal Dawson suddenly said, "Zoe, I forgot to tell you, I’m expecting twins, hahaha..."

"Really?" I was thrilled, "That’s great, if they are a boy and a girl, you’ll have both all at once!"

"Yeah, I hope so, but even if not, I love them all the same. If I have two sons, and you or Yara have daughters, they can marry my sons. I’ll be the mother-in-law, and if any boys dare mistreat your daughters, I’ll fight for them!" Crystal Dawson mused.

I instinctively touched my slightly rounded belly; it was really small, probably smaller than someone’s food baby after a meal.

"If I have a daughter in the future, she can decide whether to marry or not, it’s up to her. What’s the charm of marriage?" I said with a smile.

"Right, I think so too, let the kids decide their own marriages, hehe." Crystal Dawson agreed.

As we chatted, the doorbell rang. I said farewell to Crystal Dawson and hung up, then quickly went to open the door.

Henry Preston stood at the door with a bunch of packed meals, and I could already smell the delicious aroma coming from them.

"You didn’t have to do this." I sighed.

"My mom told me to take good care of you when I’m here, or she’d cut me off when I go back." Henry walked straight into the living room and laid the food on the table.

He must be busy here, given that he’s already invested in the project, he will personally handle it and ensure it’s not wasted.

This is one of Henry’s strengths, being steady and mature in his work; he always sees things through and does them well. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Managing the work back home remotely while running this project here, it is apparent that he doesn’t have much time to waste.

Just then, Henry opened one of the boxes, revealing a curry fish head. While the curry smell was strong, my sensitive nose easily detected the fishy odor within. Despite my reduced morning sickness lately, I still disliked the fishy smell.
