Chapter 145: Chapter 145: Sharing One Heart

A person who has just been resuscitated and is explaining their actions so hastily seems to me guilty, though to those who care about her, she might appear wronged, hence their excitement.

Azure doesn’t know that I have a recording that can prove she deliberately left someone to die, and it also captures what she said in the ward, making her death seemingly irredeemable.

Listening to these explanations, I felt like laughing.

"She didn’t do it on purpose," Henry chose to believe Azure, staring at me with his dark eyes, "Let’s let this matter rest, shall we?"

"Really? What if I can’t let it rest?" My heart was as cold as ice, frozen, and even my voice lacked any warmth as I stared at Henry, "After the divorce, we were supposed to go our separate ways, I don’t care about your entanglements with her, but why do you keep appearing in front of me?"

Henry’s expression turned slightly cold, with a hint of irritation.

Azure noticed my sidelong glance at her, and immediately spoke up, "Miss Hathaway, I’m not intentionally entangling with you, and Mr. Preston still has feelings for you, he wants to reconcile with you, his feelings for me are only pity, he just thinks I’m pitiful..."

A peculiar look flashed in Henry’s eyes.

Reconcile with me? Is this his attitude towards reconciliation?

"Let’s talk outside!" Henry suddenly said, grabbing my arm and leading me out.

Unable to match Henry’s strength, I had no choice but to follow him out.

The whole way Henry remained silent. We took the elevator downstairs and went straight to the hospital’s parking lot where his Maybach was parked. He finally spoke, "Let’s talk in the car."

"What else is there to talk about?" I refused.

"Zoe Hathaway, are you angry because of my attitude towards Azure?" Henry opened the car door, "Get in, and I’ll explain everything to you."

Though it was nighttime, there were still people passing by, making it unsuitable to discuss anything in detail here.

Previously, Henry tried to tell me something, but it was interrupted by a call from Azure. Now was the time to hear what excuse he would give me.

Once inside the car, I sat quietly, waiting for Henry to speak about this so-called reason.

"Winter Tate’s heart is in her body." After a moment of silence, Henry finally spoke.

I was stunned; I hadn’t expected this answer. I only knew Winter was his true love, she drowned herself because he married me, and Azure, resembling Winter, became his new love.

I never thought two generations of love would share the same heart!

"Didn’t Winter die by drowning?" It took me a while to find my voice again.

"I thought she had died then, but she didn’t. She was revived for several days before passing away, and her heart was donated. Azure is the recipient," Henry said heavily.

It seemed as if I suddenly understood everything, yet also felt more confused.

All I could do was look at Henry in bewilderment, as other emotions seemed to escape me at that moment.

So, his true love was always Winter, and Azure, having Winter’s heart, became the recipient of his care and protection?

Does Azure know the heart she received belonged to Winter? I think she should know.

Joel Sutton once told me that Azure said her heart told her she loved Henry, which probably explained it.

So Azure knew Henry much earlier than I suspected.

Even in her past life, she knew, which is how she seamlessly got together with Henry, becoming the Cinderella in a fairy tale.

"Does she know about Winter?" I asked after a long silence.

"No, Fern Tate likely hasn’t told her either," Henry answered.

Does Fern Tate also know that Azure received her sister’s heart?

How did she find out?

Both Henry and Fern thought Azure didn’t know about Winter, yet I knew she did, and was fully exploiting that fact.

The atmosphere fell silent again. Henry took out a cigarette, glanced at me, but then put it down again.

"Henry, what’s the purpose of telling me all this? Is it to avoid divorce?" I turned to gaze at him, surprisingly not feeling as explosive as I had imagined.

"Give me some time to handle these matters, instead of avoiding me." His gaze was fixed on me, with no intention to avoid.

I laughed, "Is it necessary? Your heart still belongs to Winter, and I don’t want to be a backup anymore."

No matter what, I didn’t want to turn back.

"Henry, I never knew you had such a deep emotional side; Winter’s only remaining heartbeat in this world is enough to tether you deeply. Follow your heart’s desires, but don’t interfere with what I decide to do next." I didn’t look at Henry’s expression, opened the car door, and got out.

Upon returning home, I contacted Joel Sutton, as I needed his help.

Joel was delighted to hear I had returned to the country and immediately agreed to meet me.

I invited him to a meal and then discussed what I needed to do.

"What’s this?" Joel asked, puzzled, as he took the USB drive I handed him.

"Azure has returned to the country, and she’s going to donate to University A. They’ll surely hold a ceremony, and this USB drive is meant for that time." I didn’t plan to hide from Joel, as he was the best person to help with this.

Calmly, I explained everything to Joel, whose expression darkened, as he looked at me with an inscrutable gaze by the end.

If everything goes according to plan, Azure will find herself in a most embarrassing predicament.

Joel once truly loved Azure, and since he didn’t confront her right after their breakup, he could very well refuse me now too.

I was prepared for his refusal, even if he went and told Azure; I would accept it.

"Miss Hathaway, you have helped me many times before, and I remember it well. I know this world isn’t just black and white, and it’s hard to discern right from wrong in many situations. I want to always act according to my conscience; it’s not easy," Joel tightened his grip on the USB drive, with a conflicted expression, "So, I’ll help you."

A sigh of relief escaped me, and a grateful smile curved my lips.

Soon, Leah Lane found out when Azure was going to University A.

Given Azure’s poor condition, almost needing resuscitation, yet still insisting on going to University A to express gratitude personally, I admired her.

Crystal Dawson’s remark reminded me, "Isn’t she just trying to gild herself? Otherwise, how could she be worthy of Henry without facing public scrutiny?"

Whether it’s studying abroad or playing the victim, it’s all for external praise and support. Having been maligned before, it’s vital for her to regain her reputation.

With everything ready, I waited for the day to come.

However, before then, I received a call from Laura Lawson.

"Miss Hathaway, I’m sorry, it’s my fault for not raising my daughter well, letting her make so many mistakes, please forgive Azure if she’s wronged you in any way..." Laura started sobbing as soon as I answered.

"Do you know exactly what your daughter did to offend me?" I asked coldly.

"She told me, she shouldn’t have studied abroad, shouldn’t have appeared in front of you, and when you were hospitalized to preserve your pregnancy she shouldn’t have visited, causing you stress. But she intended to say goodbye, you know she has a heart condition and was about to go to Country D..." Laura’s voice was urgent, "Miss Hathaway, my Azure isn’t a bad girl, many things she did unintentionally, plus she’s not with Mr. Preston, he’s the one pursuing her."

I almost laughed. How could Azure even deceive her own parents?

Laura wanted to say more, but I was no longer interested, "Auntie Lawson, you don’t need to call me again. You should be more aware of what kind of person Azure is."

With that, I hung up the phone and blocked Laura’s number.

But I didn’t expect that this mother-daughter duo acted as if they had planned it, with Laura phoning me, and soon after, Azure publicly apologized to me through the media.

Sitting on a chair in a hospital gown, her emaciated, pale face filled with remorse, she looked into the camera and spoke with guilt, "Today I want to publicly apologize through the lens to Mr. Preston’s ex-wife Zoe Hathaway, I’m sorry."

"I didn’t mean to hurt Miss Hathaway, everything happened beyond my control, and there were many misunderstandings between us..."

In the video, Azure’s gentle and aggrieved voice seemed like she was apologizing to me, yet her portrayal showed helplessness and compulsion.

I hadn’t finished watching the video when an unknown number called.

"Zoe Hathaway, help!" Silas Lockwood’s panicked voice came through, "My wife watched Azure’s video and suddenly rushed to the hospital, shouting she’s going to beat Azure. I can’t stop her, please come and help me!"

Crystal Dawson’s temperament naturally couldn’t tolerate Azure’s lies and pretense.

But with her heavily pregnant and rushing to hit someone, what if they both got hurt?

I got the address and rushed over as quickly as possible.
