Chapter 195: Chapter 195: I Like It

"It was me who didn’t let him appear," Lucy reiterated.

"Dad, Mom," Jackson explained for his son-in-law, "Even though my son-in-law didn’t show up, he helped a lot in me getting out safely. It’s right for Lucy not to let him appear; he’s not an ordinary person."

"What kind of person is he?"

"He’s Jacob Green, the CEO of the Green Group. It wouldn’t be appropriate for him to step out at this time."

Mason Baker pursued, "Is it the Green Family from Ningham?"

"That’s right," Jackson nodded, "I’m truly blessed to have such a wonderful son-in-law."

"Lucy actually married Jacob Green?!" Mrs. Baker was incredulous, "Weren’t they already married before recognition? Would such a family like the Green Family, which values social standing, agree to let Lucy in?"

"Jacob Green and I had a secret marriage. When we registered, his family didn’t know. By the time they found out, I was already the Prime Minister’s daughter, socially equal."

Mrs. Baker’s mouth fell open, "Doesn’t his family have any dissatisfaction?"

"Basically, nothing major, just his grandmother is somewhat like you."

"How is his grandmother somewhat like me?"

"Both don’t favor me and have prejudices, and I treat his grandmother similarly to how I treat you."

Mrs. Baker grunted, "It’s my fault; from this incident of you saving your father, I see you’re no less than a son. I won’t hold prejudices against you anymore."

Lucy smiled slightly, "Really, Grandma?"

"Could it be fake?"

"What about Mason Baker? Are you planning to keep him around?"

Mr. Baker spoke, "Your grandma and I have discussed it privately; once your dad is out, Mason will transfer his household registration away from our Baker Clan. He will no longer be part of our family."

"Can Grandma agree to this?"

Mrs. Baker replied, "He’s allied with those who harmed your dad. How can I tolerate him? The kindness these years towards him will be treated as nonexistent—it’s hurtful."

"Grandma seems quite clear-headed," Lucy said playfully, "If the family stays united, any external threats will find it hard to attack. But if we are divided internally, they’ll easily destroy us without any effort."

"Well said," Jackson agreed.

Everyone had a late-night snack together and were about to rest when Jacob Green arrived.

"It’s good to see father-in-law unharmed," Jacob Green inquired, "Did those people trouble you in the interrogation room?"

"No, they didn’t—too late to trouble you by coming over."

"I’ve come for another reason: the President had his secretary contact me, asking me to bring my wife to the Presidential Mansion tomorrow morning. It seems he’s aware Lucy and I are married."

"This was bound to be known sooner or later," Lucy said calmly, "Since they’ve asked us to meet him, we’ll go tomorrow morning."

Jacob Green’s gaze fell on the two elderly Bakers, "Grandpa, Grandma, hello, I’m Jacob Green."

"We only found out tonight who Lucy’s husband is, turns out it’s you," Mrs. Baker looked him over with nods, "Quite the figure, even more handsome than on TV."

"Lucy is so beautiful, I can’t fall short, can I?"

"You really have a way with words," Mrs. Baker was increasingly satisfied, "Lucy marries you, she’s very fortunate."

"It’s late; everyone should rest. We should take our leave," Mr. Baker urged his wife.

"We’re leaving; you should rest early too," Mr. and Mrs. Baker left together.

...

Once the bedroom door closed, Jacob Green pushed Lucy against the door and chuckled lowly, "What to do? Our relationship is going to be known by everyone."

"You think I’m worried about that?"

"You’ve always not wanted to go public..."

"I didn’t want to be public because I wanted to stay in the dark while those people stayed in the light. But about this matter... I’ve always kept a natural attitude," Lucy’s hand moved to his neck, calmly helping him unfasten his tie, "I’m Jacob Green’s wife—I was, I am, and I will be. There’s nothing shameful."

His eyes were full of laughter, hands slipped under her short sleeves, circled her back, and unfastened her bra.

When it came to undressing, both were cooperative.

After washing, they lay on the cool mat on the bed, gazing at each other.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Looking at the little mole on your nose," his fingertips moved over her nose bits by bits, "Though small and not very noticeable, touching it with the hand can feel its presence."

"Do you find it ugly?"

He shook his head, "Not at all; I know several popular actresses, both domestic and international, who have moles on their noses like yours. Yours is on the wing of the nose; it doesn’t affect your looks; it adds a different kind of beauty; I like it."

Lucy nestled into his embrace, diverting the topic, "Among so many countries, which do you like best?"

"Country A."

"Oh?" She was quite surprised, "You like Country A most, why?"

"Feels very close; I remember the first time I set foot on that land, it felt as if I’d lived in that country before, a thrilling inexplicable joy in my heart."

"I haven’t been to Country A yet. Anything fun there?"

"Although every visit is for official business, not leisure, I do know their history and culture. The Capital of Country A, Sakora, has an Aerion tower standing 119 meters tall, a famous landmark."

"That’s quite tall. What’s its background?"

Jacob Green gently embraced her, his soothing voice like the spring breeze of March, "Built during the Thirteen Dynasty of Country A, rumour has it that the Pharaoh’s Favored Concubine lived in the tower." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"They didn’t have elevators in that era, living in the high tower, just climbing up must’ve been tiring, right?" Lucy queried, "Was this concubine truly favored by the Pharaoh? Wasn’t this a way for the Pharaoh to punish her?"

Jacob Green laughed, "Maybe it was to protect her."

"Society progresses; previous generations practiced polygamy. Luckily, I live in this society, otherwise, if you married multiple women—how could I stand it?"

"Without comparison, there’s no harm. I only belong to you; owning me requires you to cherish well."

Lucy buried herself in his arms, "Same here."

——

The sudden echo of a "clatter" startled Flora Palmer who was reading a book; she looked up to see Arthur Bennett approaching.

"I recall you once told me you’ve met Jacob Green and his wife. You knew who his wife was early on, why didn’t you tell me it was Lucy Eaton?"

"You only asked me what she does, not who she is. Why should I tell you so much detail for nothing?"

"She said she’s been watching from the moment Stellan entered the Presidential Mansion. Do I know you’re involved with Stellan Quinn because she told you?"
