The Trions, who had always been confident in their unshakeable position, were unprepared for the various movements around them, so it took them a while to react, which caused them a few losses in terms of business.

Worse, the Trion heir, Morgen, happened to be on a mission to check out a lead to the Golds at the time, leaving them relatively exposed.

Although Bleumrick had called it off for the sake of face, the Trions wanted to try a bit more, so they sent their most powerful younger generation out to a recent clue, which said that the Golds were seen somewhere East near Warrior City.

The Sephon’s advantage did not last long because, as if the fates were favoring the Trions, people realized that the Sephon Family patriarch mysteriously disappeared. According to the letter, the family maintained he was just training in order to level up again, and there was no need to worry about him.

However, Veronica—who had been with the Golds when they were hunted down—knew that the person was dead, killed by Gregory himself.

This meant that the Sephon powerhouse was gone and, if found out—unless they were able to secure more forces to defend them and their assets—then they could be up for grabs, too.

Hey, who’d have thought those events would cause so many things to happening afterwards?

Soon, Morgen arrived, cutting his mission short after a post from his family. He teleported using the Mercenary Hall, reappearing and investigating their enemies. It took a short while for him to notice this suspicion with the Sephons, though they didn’t have proof yet.

Knowing him, however, it would not take long.

He even found out that another elder hadn’t been seen for a while. Hopefully, they were dead and their families simply didn’t admit it.

This was heaven-sent to the Trions because their own elder had been deadly ill and no amount of aether stones was enough to help him level up anymore, at least not in time.

If a war between the families actually exploded, the old man of the Sephon family would’ve been quite troublesome.

Veronica knew all this because of the letter, while her family knew this because it wasn’t a secret. All over the City, in fact, people had been watching the changes in the upper class. The void left by the Golds was large, and people were fighting to fill it.

Anyway, what happened to Hubble was also related to Bleuelle, in a sense.

Some families from Bleuelle were now trying to get their daughters married to her brother. Of course, these daughters were in the lower branches of the family (high nobles in cities generally intermarry), but connections were connections.

Before making a response, she read the letter again to make sure she didn’t miss anything. As she reread, she heard the messages in her family’s voices.

She could hear her father’s strict but loving ’take care’, and her mother’s gentle expressions of relief that she arrived at her destination safe and sound along with everyone. There was also her brother’s which was pragmatic as always, telling her not to neglect her training.

After this, Veronica took out a pen and paper stationary set from the Bookstore to finally write her response letter. It had a very beautiful pastel pattern and scent and she was sure they’d be impressed when they received it.

In her letter, she was honest and didn’t hide much. The Lord there was her dad so she didn’t have to be too subtle or use hidden messages in her posts.

She told them of the updates in her life so far. She told them she went to the spa every day, trying out a different massage. She would describe food to them, too, and promised to send them boxes of non-perishable food very soon.

She also told them that Cassandra’s child had turned a month old and held an adorable party for babies. Cassandra’s parents missed a lot by betraying her trust, and they really didn’t deserve to be forgiven.

Speaking of this, she couldn’t help but express her own happiness. "I’m lucky to have you as my parents," she told them. Whenever she remembered a woman’s misfortune due to her family, her heart would fill up with appreciation for her own.

After that, she responded to the more serious parts of the letter, which she dreaded. In their letter, they made mention of Lia, her second cousin who lived in Bleulle.

Lia was apparently gonna get married to a fellow noble there and she and her brother were invited. Her parents had simply asked if she wanted to check, and that she didn’t have to come if she didn’t want to go.

However, Veronica was still very aware of the practices—explicit or not—in their circle. She was invited by someone with a higher stature, and this meant she should not reject.

Although her father was the Lord of a town, they were still inferior to people from the city, primarily due to the fact that the monsters in Cities were far more powerful, and their assets and resources were much superior to those in Towns.

Although the Roach family wasn’t a big one, it was still one from a City. If they lost the favor of their connections to the City, then the limitations on their Town might as well stay there forever.

It did not mention in the letter which family Roach was marrying into, but Veronica had a feeling it would be a superior family. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have had the face to invite so many people to it.

Veronica paused. While she didn’t like that pretentious cousin of hers, she was curious about what had happened in Bleulle since the Golds went away.

Judging by their attitudes, the Golds simply didn’t want to have anything to do with Bleulle anymore. But it was such a big place that it would eventually spillover to where they were, especially since the Golds were here.

So... should she go, after all?
