[Sunset With You: An Ansel and Oslo Fanfiction]

"Huh?" Obi blinked, a bit confused. "Fanfiction? What’s that?"

Leez felt awkward and tried to pry it out of his hands. "It’s... better not to see..." she said, her peripheral vision passing by Oslo not too far away from them, completely unaware of what was brewing right behind him.

His eyebrows rose, and he turned to look at her. "You’re making me more curious," he said, not noticing that their faces were only a few inches away.

When he did, he slowly backed away and shifted his attention back to the book, about to open its pages.

Oslo was looking at books at this time. He was particularly fond of Kingdom-building stories that had been gaining popularity lately.

There was something extremely fun and wholesome when reading about a group of people going through various tribulations, eventually making a home for themselves. It was something he had witnessed with Alterra, and he couldn’t get enough of it.

There were some creative variations though. For instance, one of the more extreme cases was a story about a human sent in a world of half-orcs who were stuck in their primitive states. The woman would then teach them some of the basic things like cooking with fire, using salt, creating better houses, and so on. She even took on several lovers.

Another one was in a so-called ’zombie apocalypse’ with monsters a bit similar, though weaker, to their own Undeads. There, a group of classmates would struggle, escape, grow, and eventually defeat the zombies and build a safe haven for their people.

And then there was a new release a retired actor/reformed playboy who was sucked to another world and tasked with creating an Inn of sorts. He skimmed a bit and realized that the male lead was obviously based on Ansel.1

While looking at the synopsis though, he decided to check on his companions.

He turned his head to see the book his brother was holding, and he immediately lost blood when he opened it up.

"OBI! Stop!" he said, breathless, heading to him in an attempt to take the book back before the man saw anything.

Obi had rarely seen his brother so flustered after finding Alterra.

Instead of giving way, Obi placed it directly in his space. Anyway, the theft regulation would only trigger if he left without paying for anything.

Oslo gritted his teeth. "Obi!"

Obi smirked and headed to the cashier, paying for the book, before using his higher level and speed to disappear from inside the store. By the time the door was closed, he was already a distance away.

"Orcshit..." Oslo cursed as he followed him out, with Leez and the others following behind him.

Oslo found him opening the book a couple of meters away from the store, and he immediately dashed to get to him.

However, Obi was past level 40. What could his little brother—who had yet to reach level 35 by the way—do against him?

Oslo tried to grab, Obi would avoid. Oslo would try to kick his shin, Obi would handsomely turn and avoid again. Using elements outside designated areas automatically counted conflict as hostile fights though, so Oslo didn’t dare use anything.

Anyway, they gained quite a bit of an audience among passersby. As he avoided the younger brother, he opened up the book to read random excerpts.

He bought the version written in Xeno language so he could easily read it. When he read the first few paragraphs, he almost—almost—lost his footing.

Fortunately, he had enough reflexes to avoid that embarrassment.

Oslo did manage to grab hold of his collar, but Otto managed to grab his arm and throw him over his shoulder, before immediately rushing away with an open book in hand. freewёbnoνel-com

"Excerpt #1—" he began, reading a random page out loud.

It was by the beautiful Alterra lake that Oslo met him. Not long ago, they had just fished together in this exact spot, now he was not sure if he could stay still for such a long time with that person next to him.

He called him here... and Oslo was unsure what to expect, but his heart beat loudly in various emotions. Was it fear? Was it apprehension? Or was it... anticipation?

Ansel was silent for a while. He looked at the blonde, his green eyes overflowing with love. He held his hand that had been calloused from all the blueprints he had created for Alterra.

Oslo blinked, his long golden eyelashes fluttering like feathers, tickling the redhead’s heart. "You..." he said, voice a little meeker than usual, but he made no movements to take away his palm.

"Oslo... I love you..." Ansel said, leaning closer, and Oslo welcomed the proximity as if entering the embrace of a warm blanket in winter.

Shyly, they felt each other’s warmth like this.

It felt like there were sparks wherever they got a few inches closer. It was exhilarating.

"I know this is sudden, but... you feel it too, don’t you?" Ansel asked, looking at him straight in the eyes.

Oslo’s eyebrows furrowed as he looked at his friend with complicated eyes. He was tempted—tempted to lean in. Just a little more and—

However, he stepped back and took back his hand, his heart breaking more than the other’s as he did so.

"It can’t be—the world will not accept us."

He immediately turned back and left, his steps quick, leaving his good friend behind.

The red head’s legs weakened, letting the tree behind him carry his weight.

Ansel gripped his chest, feeling the pain in his heart.

"What... can we do to be together?"

BANG!

"Ouch!" Obi gasped when he lost his balance and hit one of the trees. At some point, it seemed like his direction changed a bit due to his distraction.

Fortunately for him, he gathered his wits and rushed in a different direction before Oslo could capture him.

Obi felt his stomach hurt from laughing too much, the imagery clear in his head.

"Wait! Oh my orcshit—I need to read more! HAHAHHAHA!"

To Oslo’s chagrin, Obi happily read quite a few more.

Mayyy be an actual story soon *wiggles eyebrows*
