After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World-Chapter 1405: The Current State of Bleulle
Chapter 1405: The Current State of Bleulle
Bleulle City
Slap!
Bang!
A beautiful woman was thrown smack to the floor. This slap was very heavy and, despite her high level, the side of her face turned red.
Her sight saw blots of dark and light, making her feel even dizzier. If a level 10 woman were hit by this slap instead, she’d have lost her head.
She also tasted a bit of rust and knew her mouth was bleeding somewhere. She gulped it down and tried to gather herself without showing too much weakness.
Octavia shakily raised her head, looking up at the man who slapped her.
"Say that again," Bleumrick said, as if daring her to do so. Octavia bit her lips, eyes teary as she looked helplessly at the old man.
"Father..."
Even if Octavia had pride and was strong, she was only a woman of this world in the end. She had been raised to follow whatever the men in the family would say. Now, it was her father, next it was her husband.
And her future husband... was one of the most disgusting men she had seen.
Her betrothed was no other than Piddes, the Hassen Lord’s disgusting eldest son.
She had known of his existence, but she did not care for him before. This was especially since her eyes had always been on Orion, the man she had always thought she’d marry, growing up.
So, not knowing enough about the other man, she didn’t think too much when her father assigned her to him.
It was not like she had a choice, though she did run to the then-incarcerated Orion. It was a foolish hope, but she thought that maybe—maybe—Orion would succumb to her in that position.
He didn’t, of course. He never did.
She left in anger, cursing him, hoping for him to get a fate of suffering with the woman he chose.
However, when he and his family disappeared—possibly dead—she was left in her own thoughts.
Her guilt and longing ate her up for the next few days, and she only had the energy to meet people again when she was forced out to meet her betrothed.
He went to visit her through the teleportation array—an expensive endeavor—and was supposed to be something that’d touch her heart.
It certainly touched many women, and they went on about how amazing he was. Some were aiming to compliment and gain favor by making her feel lucky, while some mentioned the man’s bed skills—obviously aiming to make her feel bad, particularly when some of them had actually experienced it personally.
Such was the world of women. Even as an eminent lord’s daughter, she would still experience this.
Piddes was quite handsome. He had good features inherited from his mother. He also had light amber hair that made him look ethereal and charming.
Unfortunately, the man was easily one of the most lustful human beings she had ever met. He had a consistent lustful gaze on her, and to every woman with a good face.
He didn’t even care if she was right beside him. If there was a beautiful woman nearby, he’d flirt with her without shame.
After some investigation, she found out he had a harem of at least a hundred people back in his City. Worse was the fact that he would often vent whatever frustration he had on them, with a body being hauled out every few weeks or so.
Even when he wasn’t in his hometown, he brought at least six people with him—all of whom were his lovers.
She wouldn’t have cared for him even if she knew before, but not when she was going to be with him for the rest of her life!
She’d rather die!!
There were many expectations of people of her stature, and she had expected him to have a few women on the side—but this was too humiliating!
Not to mention, growing up, she had always pictured herself as Orion’s bride, living like her aunt Gaia, and she simply could not stomach such a difference.
She felt physically in pain just by picturing it.
However, the moment she even hinted at her dislike of the marriage to her father, enumerating how horrible a man Piddes was, she received a terrifying glare.
And the moment she uttered that she did not want the marriage to continue, she got a slap instead.
"I... I’ll find a useful marriage, father," she said, trying to keep her voice from shaking. "You told me I am smart, let me prove it to you."
She said this in hopes her father would listen to her. He told this to her a few times, and he’d say things like it was such a pity she was a daughter instead of a son. To the naive her, that was a compliment even if she didn’t show her happiness outright.
This was the only way her father would care: Advantages.
In contrast, if it were her maternal family... maybe they’d care a bit without such things. Sadly, they were all half-dead after their stunt to rescue the Golds, and they probably wouldn’t want to see her right now.
Bleumrick narrowed his eyes on her. "Smart? It seems like my being kind to you got in your head," he said, grabbing her face with his hand, squeezing it painfully.
Her eyes welled with tears as she struggled to move. However, her father was overwhelmingly strong, and even if she did her best to scratch him, she wouldn’t have done anything but anger him.
Bleumrick looked at his oldest child. "Do you think you have an option?" he asked. "Truly wise people would be aware of their positions."
BANG!
He threw her again to the wall and she was left there. He did not bother much anymore, leaving her to get herself up.
Before leaving, he turned to look at his servant. "Call the healer," he said, looking at Octavia, who was still on the floor, and for a moment she thought he was concerned.
Instead, all she got was his cold, calculating stare.
"We can’t have her going outside looking unsightly."
