After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World-Chapter 1829: Phase 1 Updates (Part 1)
The next two weeks were quite peaceful. There were no signs of war for a while because everyone was still recovering from the extreme cold. Their satellites didn’t attack anyone either, at least for now.
They were also giving others a chance to live.
Although towns lived better than others, they still suffered. Besides, anyone who dared attack so closely after the disaster would be doing so out of desperation, not out of confidence in their strengths.
By this time, Phase 1, except for the big manually-constructed buildings and amenities, everything else had been built up. All the dormitories, midrise buildings, standalone houses, shop house streets, and so on, had already been erected.
In the new villa areas, the only buildings left for construction were the clubhouse and resorts, which used filtered water from the rivers or underground water sources.
Resorts, pools, and so on could not be absent in a fun-loving town!
This small area was accessed by the residents, for now. For the rest of the public, there was also a small resort being built. It’d have entrance fees too, and they were thinking of using contribution points as well as an alternative mode of payment.
It’d be a relatively simple resort with three big pools and a few tiny ones, along with a kids’ pool with some fountains and usual playground sets.
It was quite fun to design, and one of the liveliest discussions that had ever happened in the construction and design team.
The current technology now allowed for simple pool technology like rotary vane pumps, archimedes screws, and filtering systems that would be powerful enough to handle the circulation of such a large amount of water.
And if it needed maintenance, they...had water elementalists, so no biggie. They also developed a maintenance system for non-elementalists, of course, but it’d definitely be faster with water elementalists. Anyway, they had plenty of water elementalists who did not want to join the guard team. This could be one of their career options.
In Phase 2, there was even a large waterpark being planned. Like one that could be counted as an amusement park. It would have things like lazy rivers, activity pools, splash zones, plunge pools, large slides, and even wave pools.
Just imagining it made a lot of people giddy.
They had some of the basic pumps now, anyway, and a lot of enthusiasts already proposed various ’giant slide’ designs.
There was even one where a slide would literally shoot the person several meters above ground.
High-level people want their thrill, too, they said.
The land area dedicated here was huge, only surpassed by the future a.k.a. ’dream’ theme park.
Alterra still had a massive area for development left, and with their mid-rise buildings, they really didn’t need to build residential areas in most of them. How could they not place amenities and fun stuff?
As for the malls, most mercenary branches, and the other manually constructed buildings, they had also passed midway through their construction phase.
Some of the mercenary branches that were just two floors high were already finishing their structural phase (there was a lot of manpower to help things get done quickly, as long as one had money), and soon it’d have roofs, and the focus would be on the interiors as well as its facade.
The mercenaries like Bart would often pass by their place at least once a day, saying it was to monitor progress, but in reality, they were just excited.
Speaking of this, now that the cold wave had passed by, tourism had returned, and a lot of new mercenary teams arrived via the Halls.
They saw the amazingness of Alterra, and could only regret it when they found out that the leasable land abutting Mercenary Street had been sold out.
Fortunately for them, there would be a secondary Mercenary Street (which would be named something else) on another phase of construction. Rumor had it that its length would depend on the number of reservations they’d receive before the phase started construction.
This also meant that they had a large chance of getting this because there was no clear limit on the number of lots the territory was willing to put aside.
Speaking of this, although Phase 2 was yet to start, they did already have a rough idea where to place the next mercenary halls.
They would also be placed right next to the 20-meter easements right next to the outermost walls.
In fact, the extension of the first one would extend to a perpendicular street next to the walls as well. This extension opened up about a dozen new lots for phase 1.
Alterra’s admin team waited for the good timing—that was to say, a moment when a lot of new mercenary teams arrived— to announce these openings.
They even opened the lease in an auction! It wasn’t even a purchase of the lot, just the lease—that was to say, the slot to receive a temporary use of land for a set amount of time!
Combined with the actual lease amount, the winners had to pay a large amount of money!
Althea shook her head when she found out about this, but she just let them be. She gave them free rein for a reason. Anyway, even with this amount of spending, people were still bidding.
Letting all these mercenary teams was to make sure they could gain a lot of money outright as well as in taxes. Most importantly, this was to inject a lot of forces into their defense system. For now, Alterra’s average level was still way below their peers, so they had to do a lot of things to even that out.
There were plenty of advantages in letting so many teams build bases, but they were also aware that there were a couple of risks.
Mercenaries who went through the hall could not outwardly harm the territory they entered through it until they completed their missions. But what could happen after that?
