Chapter 1930: Last Batches of Preparation Work (Part 1)

In the laboratory, Althea was focused on making as many bottles of her unique Goldleaf Elixir (A), Earth Core Elixir (B), and Aqua Vein Tonic (B) potions as she could. This was all while she was trying to decipher the patterns in the bomb shrapnel.

Althea truly wanted to divide herself so she could be everywhere, but she could only delegate the time-consuming tasks that others could do. For example, for the bomb shrapnel, she asked people to put them together as much as they could and draw the patterns.

While waiting, she decided to help produce superior-level potions with the grandmasters, who were using their own potions and formulas. There were potions that only she could create, but were very useful for people at her husband’s level, so she naturally could not neglect them. The more she could make, the better.

While her productivity had increased, she only had a day, so she couldn’t make too many bottles.

Each team had its own research; some were doing their best to expedite and make things before the war started.

One of the magic tool projects she asked them to prioritize was the improved Token Guard, with the features she hoped for. All this time, Kahonn had been focused on making improvements.

It was very close, though it was unlikely to be completed today. A pity.

There was a reason why she wanted to prioritize this.

She... wanted to permanently dissociate the token from her body, just in case.

One could never know what might happen. While she’d do her best to protect it and herself, she didn’t want to risk the home of tens of thousands of people.

Alterra wasn’t just hers anymore. Just the knowledge that her untimely death would destroy the home that so many people had worked so hard to build was too much of a burden for her.

Further, the improved token guard (that they had been trying to create) could, theoretically, allow her to control the token, even if it was within the token guard, hopefully safe in the territory warehouse, regardless of where she was, and regardless of whether the war was ongoing. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Theoretically, she could also give access to the elders to do some things as well.

She would never let go of her lordship, but not carrying the weight of so many lives depending on her every move would be nice.

She couldn’t even go to a neighbour’s territory without worrying too much.

And then there was the team dealing with the most urgent threat: The bombs.

They recovered a bit of shrapnel from the site, but upon closer inspection, there were no arrays left to study. On the surface, it was just an empty shell.

She closed her eyes and worked, only heading home for a short rest and to put the babies to bed. When she was stuck on a topic, the best way to get out of the slump was to head out and see her children.

It was like the dose of dopamine could get her brain running in a different direction or something.

"MaMUHHH!" Meatball yelled, running towards her with those little chonky legs. This was followed by Pepper, who was playing miniature Kitchen, and toddled towards her with similar speed, but much more graceful than her brother.

"Mamaaaa!"

Althea giggled and scooped them up with an arm each, giving them smooches on their soft faces.

She then headed to the dining table to join them for dinner. Harold was not there to cook, sadly, but it seemed like Sheila had ordered some takeout meals from their restaurant.

She seemed to be back to the Gaea team’s pharmacy and factory, though. Before the war started, Sheila was in charge of making sure their medicine was continuously provided. Many people were buying after all.

Speaking of this, for both pharmacies, the purchase limits were temporarily decreased, especially for the visitors, to make sure more people had stocks and to lower the chances of enemies stocking up their supplies instead.

The other Ministers were also working the whole time, including her husband. Garan was definitely busy preparing the guards for the upcoming war.

She bonded with the babies for about another hour and bathed them before she put them to bed.

They slept with her this time, with her deciding to take a power nap (which was what everyone had to do, so their mental capacities would be decent during the war).

It was easier to put them to sleep in her bed because when they were in their beds, the babies tended to do their best to stay awake. Recently, they even learned to fake sleep. After making them suffer for about an hour, the babies would close their eyes, and then some minutes later, they would knock those chonky fists against her door.

Althea kissed the babies fondly as she gently patted them to sleep. Soon, succumbed to slumber. By this time, Althea naturally understood when they were really asleep versus when they were faking it.

She looked warmly at her children. When she thought they were in trouble, how scared she was.

She had heard of mothers being unable to live when their children died before them. She understood it well now.

Before standing up again, she equipped the children with as many protection charms as they were comfortable with.

It wasn’t easy because it was a palm-sized wooden token, and it could be uncomfortable, and it was inevitable for the kids to dislike having too many.

So she learned how to embed them in other things, though the raw materials had to remain. She installed them with Velcro so they would stick to whatever the babies were wearing. From afar, the tokens would just look like patterns on the shirts or the onesies.

Their cribs, their strollers, and their walkers all had a charm installed into them as well. Even their favorite stuffed toys had a token hidden inside.

A few hours before the start of the war, they’d be in the bunker as well, which was the safest place to be.

She could only hope all these preparation was enough.
