After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 542 - 214 The So-Called Competent Lover
The next day.
"Why hasn’t Lord Ahetar gotten up yet?" Shark Girl Kaschte sat at the dining table, biting into a piece of bread while frequently glancing towards the second floor.
Last night, she had barely slept, her mind preoccupied with the reward mentioned by Lord Ahetar, wondering if it were the same as what she had imagined.
"That man is quite disciplined in his lifestyle," the Pestilence Witch yawned, then rubbed the corner of her eyes and said,
"However, he might get up later today."
"What do you mean?" Shark Girl Kaschte showed a puzzled look, but the Pestilence Witch didn’t explain. Instead, she cast her gaze toward the Goddess of Plague with a slight smile curving her lips:
"Why not ask the Goddess of Plague? She has a better relationship with Ahetar."
Shark Girl Kaschte instinctively looked over to see the Goddess of Plague gently shaking her head, offering no explanation.
The atmosphere suddenly turned a bit heavy.
Seeing this, Shark Girl Kaschte didn’t press further, starting to ponder the reasons for Ahetar not rising early, and then she realized that Letixia, too, had not gotten out of bed.
"Have you figured it out?" the Pestilence Witch’s gaze fell on the second floor, speaking in a tone that almost seemed teasing, "Maybe if you go find Ahetar now, you might see an interesting scene."
Shark Girl Kaschte rolled her eyes; she was well aware of Ahetar’s feelings for Letixia. Initially, Lord Ahetar fought to the death in the dueling arenas to earn money for Letixia’s treatment, even challenging an entire nation for her sake.
So, it didn’t surprise her that Letixia and Ahetar were together.
Moreover, through the time they’d spent together, she found Letixia to be a very assertive woman, not at all passive like the princesses in stories.
Once sure of her own desires, she would proactively strike out.
...
...
Meanwhile,
On the second floor,
Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, casting a warm glow over the pristine white bed and the couple embraced within it.
The girl with hair like golden sand rested her head against the man’s broad shoulder, peacefully asleep like a kitten.
Xi Mu opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was the girl’s peaceful sleeping face; looking down, he could see two unrestricted mounds of white pressed against his chest, the delicate blue veins faintly visible beneath her fair skin.
The girl from the previous night seemed to have cast aside all her disguises, absent was her usual elegance and austerity, instead she seemed incredibly gentle and soft, like a well-behaved kitty, allowing him to manipulate her supple body at will.
This contrast in her demeanor was nearly irresistible.
His hand couldn’t help but glide along her slender waist, drawing their bodies closer, when Letixia suddenly let out a low moan of protest, though she showed no signs of waking from the touch.
Clearly, she was very exhausted.
Xi Mu stopped his movements, gently withdrew his arm from under Letixia, and carefully got out of bed, making sure to cover Letixia with the duvet.
However, the girl on the bed suddenly curled up a bit, seemingly aware of her partner’s departure, faint signs of awakening showing.
"Sleep, I’m not going anywhere," Xi Mu whispered, and the girl’s body relaxed again.
He turned and left the room, quietly closing the door behind him.
A moment later,
Xi Mu descended the stairs to the living room, where he saw the Pestilence Witch and the Goddess of Plague seated on the sofa, both giving him different looks.
As for Shark Girl Kaschte, she had temporarily left the residence.
"What’s the matter?" He took a seat in an empty spot, glanced at the bread on the table, and then poured himself a cup of tea.
The Pestilence Witch eyed him, devoid of any abnormality; crossing her legs wrapped in black silk, she rested her hands on her knees and asked out of curiosity, "After experiencing a girl’s wholehearted love, does the King of Ash still intend to set the world ablaze?"
"Wholehearted love?" Xi Mu took a sip of the tea, then extended a finger which ignited with the Ash Fire.
The temperature in the room suddenly rose.
The Pestilence Witch’s smile slowly faded, she’d only meant to tease the Goddess of Plague and hadn’t expected Ahetar to suddenly ignite the Ash Fire. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Xi Mu, seemingly oblivious to the Pestilence Witch’s sudden compliance, explained on his own, "Once, a goddess tried to let me experience wholehearted love to make me stop burning the Tree of Omniscience, but later, I burned her to ashes with my own hands."
He extinguished the flame at his fingertip.
"Don’t try to use emotions to make me give up setting the world on fire; better to think of ways to defeat me," he said.
The Pestilence Witch remained silent.
Using emotions to convince Ahetar to abandon his quest to burn the world was never within her contemplations... rather, she had never even thought of defeating Ahetar; such matters were better left to more capable hands.
"The Avatar Witch has been showing up more and more often," the Goddess of Plague suddenly spoke, her gaze falling outside the window, "She’s no longer hiding her tracks."
Xi Mu followed her gaze to see a girl with twin ponytails, dressed in a Lolita-style dress, holding a parasol outside the window, smiling serenely as she locked eyes with them.
"She infiltrated the villa yesterday," the Pestilence Witch spoke softly, "If it weren’t for realizing that the Goddess of Plague and I live together, she might have tried to take direct action."
About the Avatar Witch, she wasn’t particularly afraid; should she face an overpowering threat, she would not hesitate to kill herself, triggering the blessing left by the God of Omniscience, evading the Avatar Witch’s capture through resurrection from death.
