After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 546 - 216: The Demon Who Triumphed Over Ragnarok
The night was deep.
Streetlights on both sides of the road lit up, casting a dim yellow light on the sparsely populated road.
Letixia held Ahtal’s hand as they walked towards the Lakefront Mansion. Her light footsteps reflected her current mood. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
However, just as she was immersed in this moment of happiness, a strange figure entered their line of sight – a man with long white hair, wearing a robe, engrossed in a conversation with an unseen being.
His state was very similar to Letixia’s at that moment.
But if there had to be a point of difference, it was that Letixia’s conversation with Ahtal did not give the impression of being abrupt. Onlookers would feel as though Letixia was talking to someone, though they couldn’t be sure what that person looked like.
This was the result of Ahtal strengthening his own presence.
Something was... off.
Letixia instinctively placed her hand on the Sword of Light, feeling that the man who was talking to the air by himself was dangerous. Despite the white-haired man’s gentle and sacred aura, which gave off a sense of compassion, the smile he wore while talking to the air was nonetheless eerie.
"Please don’t worry," the white-haired man stopped talking to the air and turned around to face Letixia with a gentle smile, "I was just interacting with my lover, it’s just that you cannot see her."
Letixia: "..."
Why did she feel mocked? To outsiders, she did appear to be conversing with the air. However, Ahtal had already amplified his presence, so it wasn’t jarring, it’s just that people tended to forget about Ahtal afterwards.
"Yalei... no, call me Delusional Demon," the Delusional Demon said, shaking his head slightly with a smile towards Letixia, "Just like how people directly address Ahtal as the King of Ash, my real name doesn’t hold much meaning anymore."
In this world, every witch and demon had a corresponding name, but as time passed, people would refer to them by their respective "powers." Apart from a few who studied history, most wouldn’t bother to remember their original names.
"Why would a being like you appear here?" Letixia asked, while casting an inquiring glance at Ahtal. After getting an affirmative response, she looked cautious.
Yet, she wasn’t overly worried inside; with Ahtal by her side, she believed she wouldn’t be in danger.
"In search of a way to defeat the King of Ash," the Delusional Demon straightforwardly revealed his thoughts, his gaze falling on the Sword of Light at Letixia’s waist, "We need to understand the power of the King of Ash."
Letixia’s hand pressed on the Sword of Light tightened slightly.
Seeing this, the Delusional Demon shook his head, displaying a gentle smile, "I’m not qualified to wield the Sword of Light, and the King of Ash at the end of time probably wouldn’t let anyone else hold it either."
He said so.
"Whether or not you choose to help us study the power of the King of Ash is entirely up to you."
Letixia thought for a moment and then said, "You mentioned ’we,’ correct?"
"Yes," the Delusional Demon replied, "More accurately, it’s the Alchemical Witch who wants to study the Sword of Light. It seems she is trying to find a way to cross Ragnarok through the study of the Sword."
"The Sword of Light only contains a part of the power of the King of Ash," Letixia stated plainly, "To think that by studying the Sword of Light..."
Before she could finish, the Delusional Demon shook his head, pointed solemnly at the Sword of Light, and explained, "It’s not about defeating the King of Ash, but finding a way to cross Ragnarok. The Alchemical Witch believes that as the creator of a new world, the power of the King of Ash must include a creative aspect. If we can find this creative power, then we can take advantage of it to smuggle ourselves into the world created by the King of Ash."
With her delicate fingers, Letixia gently caressed the hilt of the sword, roughly grasping what the Delusional Demon was suggesting.
But was it really feasible?
"If the Alchemical Witch’s theory is correct," the Delusional Demon explained, "then everyone can be transported to a new world, and we don’t need to be adversaries of the King of Ash. You can also be with the King of Ash in the new world."
He turned and walked in the opposite direction.
"If you are interested, return to the Iris Flower Kingdom. The Alchemical Witch will wait for you there for three days." After speaking, he vanished into the dim light.
This world was full of astonishing witches and demons, all trying to find a way to cross Ragnarok. The theory proposed by the Alchemical Witch was the most feasible plan to date, more likely than simply doing away with the King of Ash.
Letixia fell silent for a moment and turned with a smile to Ahtal beside her, inquiring, "What that man said..."
"There is a possibility," Xi Mu replied with a smile, "And indeed, the Alchemical Witch could help you gain power."
The Alchemical Witch’s plan was simple: find a way to discover the creative aspect of the King of Ash, then use that aspect to withstand the Ash Fire, creating an ark to smuggle into the new world.
The essence of this plan was to use the power of the King of Ash to clandestinely migrate to the world he had created. To this end, the Alchemical Witch needed to understand the power of the King of Ash, and the Sword of Light was the perfect object for research.
Of course, if there were an entity that reached the level of a demon by mastering the Ash Fire, that would be an even better subject for research.
