Chapter 583: Chapter 234: Teacher and Teacher

Night was falling.

"Ashliya, you’re not planning to go back?" Letixia set down her teacup and looked at her elegantly seated younger sister across from her. She hadn’t expected her sister to be so bold as to flirt with Ahtal right in front of her.

In response, Ashliya twirled a strand of her silky hair around her finger and replied in a syrupy sweet voice, "Sister, I just want to spend a little more time with you."

Though her words were innocent, her long, slender legs beneath the hem of her dress subtly lifted, seemingly unintentionally brushing against Ahtal’s leg.

Blood pressure suddenly surged.

Letixia felt a nearly uncontrollable urge to draw her sword and stab her sister a few times, but considering Ashliya was her biological sister, she forcibly suppressed the impulse.

She couldn’t very well stab her own sister to death.

"I have training tomorrow," she said, standing up and grabbing Ahtal’s wrist, leading him towards the bedroom.

A loud door slam followed soon after.

One had to admit, Letixia’s sense of morality was commendable—she managed to endure having such a manipulative little green tea sister without resorting to tearing her apart.

Anyone else would probably have already pinned such a sister to the ground and rubbed her face in the dirt.

"You’re going to get yourself beaten up sooner or later," Sleipnir predicted matter-of-factly, casually grabbing a cookie from the table. To her surprise, it tasted unexpectedly good.

"How is it? My handiwork?" Ashliya flashed a smug smile. Realizing she’d likely never be able to win against her sister head-on, she had shifted to a different arena—enhancing her feminine allure.

She had spent quite an amount of time honing her culinary skills for this.

"Very good," Sleipnir offered an objective evaluation. "Perhaps you’re suited to become a follower of the Dessert Goddess."

Ashliya rolled her eyes, idly inspecting her bright red nails with a disinterested air, and said disdainfully, "The Dessert Goddess is too weak, not worth following."

Sleipnir: "..."

"By the way, as the companion of the King of Ash," Ashliya said with a curious expression, resting her delicate chin atop her hand, "why is it you’re here chatting with me in the living room?"

The atmosphere instantly grew heavy.

Sleipnir’s expression slowly turned dangerous, her heart feeling as though it had been pierced by a sudden arrow. And the one who shot the arrow was none other than Ashliya, the calculating little flirt trying to seduce Ahtal.

She suspected Ashliya was deliberately provoking her. Unlike Letixia, she wouldn’t hesitate to beat Ashliya to a pulp without a second thought.

"Hmm~ seems like you’re just too passive," Ashliya said, as though sensing the tension in the air. She twirled a strand of her golden hair around her finger delicately and analyzed the situation with an air of objectivity. "Knowing my sister, if time were to rewind, she’d definitely choose to act first."

Her smile was teasing as she directed her words to Sleipnir.

"If you keep waiting for Lord Ahtal to make the first move, you’ll just end up watching him and my sister’s child inherit the kingdom."

There was, admittedly, a certain logic to her words.

Sleipnir’s train of thought began to shift as the danger in her gaze gradually dissipated. Ashliya let out a small sigh of relief and then stood up to move closer, sitting beside Sleipnir. Leaning in towards her ear, she whispered softly:

"Waiting passively will never be as effective as taking action. Besides, the world is on the brink of being burned to ash—why not seize the moment, indulge yourself, and fulfill your regrets?"

Her seductive voice lingered in Sleipnir’s ear like a demon’s murmur.

Sleipnir began to waver, but still hesitated as she replied with a touch of internal conflict, "But what if the crisis of Ragnarok is resolved?"

"Then wouldn’t you regret it even more?" Ashliya said, rolling her eyes again. "Right now, it’s the apocalypse. Anything goes. But if we live to see the end of the world, you’ll go straight from indulgence to being stuck in a family dynamic. At that point, you’ll just be... their partner and co-parent."

She added one last comment for good measure.

"Who knows? You might even end up carrying her kids on your back and running errands for them."

"..."

Sleipnir allowed herself a brief moment of imagination and concluded that taking the initiative would indeed lead to a better outcome. Otherwise, the possibility of assisting Letixia in raising her children while running around the world would become disturbingly real.

Seeing this, Ashliya knew she had achieved her desired effect and chose not to press further. In truth, she had only been fear-mongering—for Sleipnir to be Ahtal’s companion indicated their bond was undoubtedly strong.

Sooner or later, Ahtal and Sleipnir would grow closer regardless of her words.

...

...

The beach by the sea.

The Goddess of Salvation stood on the shore, red waves lapping at her small feet before quickly retreating.

In her memory, the sea had always been blue, but in the simulated world, it was blood-red, with massive creatures swimming within it.

"The number of sea monsters is increasing—it’s likely they’ll reach the shore soon," Yemengade approached from the distance, their pale feet leaving a trail of prints in the sand. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

She stopped beside the Goddess of Salvation.

"Using the sea as a breeding ground, countless monsters compete against each other to conquer the land, sky, and ocean, completely replacing the ecosystem created by the Goddess of Life."

The Goddess of Salvation asked, "Why do this?"

"To produce individuals capable of adapting to the Ash Fire. All these monsters exist for this purpose," Yemengade replied. "The Monster Witch seeks to cultivate a being capable of surviving the Ash Fire so they can escape to an entirely new world. Every monster created here serves that goal."

"Everyone seems to be trying to save the world," the Goddess of Salvation said, gazing towards the edge of the sea—the distant Iris Flower Kingdom. This seemed like a world where even witches and demons could devise ways to save it. Yet she herself had no solution—or rather, no methods that aligned with her values.
