Chapter 72: Chapter 1: Teacher Hecate_2

Even if the royal family wanted to strengthen their interference, the magic school could... move away, to another country, and rebuild the school.

And if all the schools from the Magic Kingdom left, whether or not it could still be called the Magic Kingdom would become a question in need of an answer.

"Since the school is so powerful," Jed mused and enquired, "why does it obey the royal family, instead of just managing the country themselves?"

"They are essentially doing that now," Yasiraqi smiled wryly, "however, there are many contradictions between the magic schools, and it’s not easy for them to work together in harmony."

"That has nothing to do with us," Xi Mu said calmly, "We’re here in the Magic Kingdom solely to learn magic."

Jed nodded, "Right."

"Hecate is one of the sources of the internal strife," Yasiraqi reminded, then stopped in her tracks.

"Here we are, this is the room I booked." She took out a magic key, unlocked the door, and pushed it open.

"There are four independent bedrooms; choose whichever you like."

Jed looked around at the interior decoration and suddenly said, "It would be great if Letixia were here too."

"She’s probably going to be busy working for quite a long time," Yasiraqi waved her hand dismissively and casually picked a bedroom for herself.

She and Ahtal had traveled through the night before, and she was now feeling a bit tired.

"Then boss, I’ll go put away my luggage." Jed said, carrying his suitcase to another bedroom, accompanied by the sound of the closing door.

Xi Mu was left alone in the living room, no... there were two people to be precise, as a mature and elegant woman sat on the sofa. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

She was drinking tea and waved at Xi Mu.

"Apprentice, sit."

"..."

Xi Mu walked over calmly and sat down opposite the woman, seemingly unfazed by the mature woman’s sudden appearance.

To this, the woman showed a satisfied smile.

"Good, it seems I don’t need to cultivate your psychological strength," she said.

"Hecate?" Xi Mu ventured, and the mature woman frowned slightly, her expression serious, and said to him,

"It’s Teacher Hecate."

Xi Mu nodded, "Teacher Hecate."

He was not at all surprised as to why Hecate was waiting for him in the room ahead of time.

Without surprise, Hecate would likely say that his arrival to the Magic Kingdom was due to her influence on fate.

"Apprentice, do you know why you are here?" Hecate put down her teacup and her expression turned serious.

Xi Mu too played along and shook his head.

"It’s because I steered fate to bring you before me," Hecate confessed openly, explaining to her apprentice.

"I wish to become a witch, to stand at the pinnacle of magic, and you are an indispensable link, the most important person in my destined path."

Hearing this, Xi Mu voiced his confusion, "Teacher Hecate, I cannot teach you about magic."

Hecate gently shook her head, showing a slight, amused smile as her apprentice had his endearing moments.

She stated,

"Your presence by my side is a part of the ritual for becoming a witch."

"A part of the ritual?" Xi Mu seemed to show a hint of distaste, "What if I do not wish to stand by your side, teacher?"

"Then, it would be regrettable." Hecate shook her head, explaining to Xi Mu, "Apprentice, I will not compel you to stand by my side."

Speaking thus, she revealed a gentle yet serious demeanor.

"However, if you are willing to stand by my side and accompany me on the path to witchhood, I will fulfill my duty as a teacher before you come into your own."

"..."

Xi Mu did not respond immediately; he needed to act somewhat, to not agree too readily, to show Hecate his turmoil and hesitance.

Even if he actually refused right now, Hecate would not insist, but merely express her regret, then genuinely stop paying attention to the player.

But if a player chose to become her apprentice, then Hecate would indeed fulfill her responsibility as a teacher, earnestly teach them magic, and also cast protective spells on the player.

If players wish to become rebellious disciples, there are also strategy subplots available. Just increase the affection level high enough, and after Hecate becomes a witch, propose to her.

At that time, Hecate will say that the player is committing a great act of rebellion, and then happily accept their proposal.

If the proposal is not made, then Hecate will continue to maintain her role as a good teacher.

"Okay," Xi Mu nodded his head, seemingly with some difficulty agreeing to it, and Hecate didn’t care whether it was sincere or not.

Since Xi Mu had already become her disciple, she would treat him with both the strictness and affection of a teacher, even if Xi Mu was insincere now, it could eventually become genuine.

This was the revelation of fate, the path of her being a witch.

"Disciple, go wash up," she poured herself a cup of tea and addressed Xi Mu, "We will start our lesson shortly."

Xi Mu asked, "Isn’t that too soon?"

"Wasting time is wasting your life," Hecate sipped her tea, watching her disciple with a light smile.

"As your teacher, I need to quickly address the stubborn sickness in you."

"Stubborn sickness?" Xi Mu fell silent, looking at the smiling Hecate, then pushed himself up from his knees, ready to head to the bathroom for a bath.

"Wait, just strip off your armor and clothes here," Hecate called out to Xi Mu, who was about to head to the bathroom, her voice extremely calm.

"We can begin some preliminary research now."

"Teacher, are you serious?" Xi Mu asked, only to see Hecate nod as if it were a matter of course. She spoke in a tone used for educating disciples.

"Studying magic is not shameful," Hecate shook her head, her lips parted gently, and then she snapped her fingers.

"Clang!" The armor that Xi Mu was wearing fell to the ground, leaving him with nothing but his underwear.

Hecate stood up, came beside Xi Mu, and earnestly examined his physical condition before reaching a conclusion:

"Disciple, your life has indeed been shortened."

Xi Mu sighed, "It seems my time is truly short."

His life force had been reduced, not because the fire of Sulter had burned it away, but rather because he had been recklessly using the power of death recently.

With his current life force, he estimated that even after burning away this world, there would be plenty of life force left, not to mention his transformation into a dragon.

He had even less reason to worry about the consumption of his life force.

"The problem is not very serious," Hecate reassured him, poking Xi Mu’s shoulder with her finger.

"After your bath, I will take you for treatment," she said.

"..."

Xi Mu nodded, ran off to take a bath in the bathroom, then got dressed in his armor and followed Hecate out of the hotel.

And along the way, it seemed that nobody noticed Hecate’s presence, despite her being a highly renowned beauty.

Yet everyone ignored Hecate as if she were invisible.

From the perspective of others, it looked like Xi Mu was talking to thin air. Fortunately, they were in the Magic Kingdom, where people had a high tolerance for unconventional powers.

They just assumed that Xi Mu was having a distant conversation with his mentor.

Some time later.

Outside a small duel arena.

"I had already set up a magic circle to plunder life force in the duel arena," Hecate stepped into the duel arena, explaining to Xi Mu, "I noticed you seemed to be interested in dueling, so I modified the arena to suit your interests."

She smiled at Xi Mu.

"Use your best methods to kill the enemy and plunder their life force," she encouraged.

"Is this also something you foresaw, teacher?" Xi Mu asked, but Hecate maintained a mysterious smile and did not answer directly, although the answer was obvious.

Xi Mu didn’t ask further and proceeded deeper into the duel arena.

Passing through the corridor.

The light entered his eyes, and across the duel arena was an elf, holding a bow and arrow formed from branches, her pose elegant and haughty.

No need for words.

"Start hacking!" Xi Mu charged forward, his hand caressing the Hunting King’s Greatsword, black flames igniting with it.
