Chapter 73: Chapter 2: Strengthening Equipment

The battle ended.

The elf knelt powerlessly on the ground, hands clutching the greatsword that had pierced his chest, slowly bowed his head, and as Xi Mu watched, he withdrew the Hunting King’s Greatsword, accompanied by a flow of blood, and the elf’s body fell to the ground.

Immediately, a black flame symbolic of death enveloped the elf’s body, burning it to ashes.

"So cool!" In the stands, a girl exclaimed, covering her blushing face, yearning for a spring breeze moment with the knight in the arena.

However, a disdainful snort came from beside her. She turned her head subconsciously and saw a silver-haired man, bare-chested, with an extremely annoyed expression.

"Too bad he’s going to die soon," the white-haired man stood up and leaped into the arena with a fierce jump.

He stood before Xi Mu, looking down at him.

"I find your aura quite disagreeable,"

"..."

Xi Mu’s gaze was cold as he looked at the humanoid dragon before him and asked, "Is it because I’ve been cursed by a dragon?"

"It seems you understand the reason for your impending death," the white-haired man said with a dangerous smile and a chilling gaze.

"Revenge for your own kind, that reason is sufficient enough, isn’t it?"

"..."

Xi Mu remained silent. The humanoid dragon in front of him was over level ninety. Unless he used the Sword of Light, victory was impossible.

However, he was unconcerned about the dragon’s threat. In the Magic Kingdom, he could experience the thrill of being cared for and protected by mature, older women.

No need to worry about overt dangers.

"Ah, my apprentice, I didn’t expect you to still be a dragon-slaying hero," came a feigned surprise in the gentle voice of a woman. Xi Mu followed the sound and saw Hecate, who had appeared beside him at some unknown time and then stepped forward.

Her beautiful body stood in front of Xi Mu.

"Threats against my apprentice, I do not take as jokes but as a provocation to me, ’Hecate.’"

Hecate’s voice was ice-cold.

"Dragon, do you wish to be my enemy?"

"..."

The white-haired man’s pupils constricted as he looked at the indifferent Hecate, and then he suddenly laughed, "Private fights aren’t allowed in the arena, so let’s forget it."

He stepped back a few paces, looking at Xi Mu’s detached expression.

"Human, you have a very reliable teacher," he said and then took to the sky without hesitation.

If he continued to confront them, he was also somewhat concerned that Hecate might issue him a challenge to duel, and that would be somewhat embarrassing.

To refuse would seem cowardly, to accept would be akin to suicide.

"That man is Hecate’s apprentice?!"

"That’s truly enviable!"

"Why does he get to be Hecate’s apprentice, is it just because of that face of his?"

"Perhaps it’s just good luck." The audience whispered amongst themselves, clearly surprised.

Some envied him, others... were jealous, and even others cast hostile glances towards Xi Mu. Their focus shifted from Xi Mu being the victor to Xi Mu actually being Hecate’s apprentice.

In the Magic Kingdom, some despise Hecate and wish for her demise, while others admire her.

However, they all agreed on one thing, that Hecate, the genius mage, had the power to influence the situation in the Magic Kingdom.

And Hecate, listening to the discussions, didn’t mind, for her presence was bound to spark discussions and attract onlookers.

"Come, my apprentice, let’s go," she turned and walked away with Xi Mu, the murmurs of the crowd fading behind them.

The two entered a corridor.

"The dragon’s curse is somewhat troublesome," Hecate mused, looking at her silent apprentice as if jokingly:

"Do you want to stay with your teacher until you have the power to protect yourself?"

Xi Mu shook his head: "I have important things to attend to."

If it had been the first cycle, he would have been very interested in staying by Hecate’s side to enjoy her gentle guidance.

But now, he just wanted to break the game’s speedrun record.

"Did you kill Siegfried?" Hecate dropped her hand from her chin, looking at her apprentice’s surprised expression with slight helplessness:

"You understand me less than a resident of the Magic Kingdom," she said, her face feigning anger.

"Apprentice, what follows is going to be very strict teaching. I will teach you how to obtain insights into fate through astrology."

You’re lying.

Although Xi Mu thought so, he didn’t voice it out. Instead, he asked very seriously:

"Does the learning start today?"

"Hehehe... Can’t wait to learn?" Hecate smiled contentedly, then regretfully shook her head, "Your teacher needs to prepare teaching materials specifically for you."

She thought for a moment.

"The lessons will officially start tonight." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Thank you, teacher," Xi Mu nodded, replying earnestly, while Hecate looked at her serious apprentice, shook her head, and chuckled lightly.

"Don’t be so serious, you can be more natural around your teacher, as long as it’s not about teaching magic, I’m quite easy to get along with."

"Alright," Xi Mu nodded. His demeanor now more closely resembled a young man who faced an unfamiliar older sister, somewhat unsure how to interact. For someone mature like Hecate, this gave her an illusion of dominating her little apprentice, and even aroused her protective instinct.

Facing the strong older sister, and temporarily unable to suppress her with his own strength, it wasn’t a bad choice to let the older sister conquer him instead.

Shaking her head, Hecate knew her apprentice still maintained his guard against her, for she had said in front of him that she wanted to become a witch.
