Agent of Seraphim-Chapter 32: Den of Worm (2)
[Demon Worms - 315 nos remaining.]
Brand’s scan revealed an updated worm count after Karl’s attack.
He had just taken out 20 demon worms with the attack alone.
While the other young warriors were admiring their leader’s strength, the recruited foreign warriors showed uneasy expressions instead.
Even though they were now on the same team.
’Petty.’ Brand thought.
’The spear in Karl’s hand demonstrated great combat prowess and elevated his strength to another level.
Brand was unable to check the weapon’s rank, as he needed to get close to it for his appraisal to work.
Nevertheless, it was a very strong weapon.
"Karl, why was your weapon a whole tier stronger than ours?" Brand asked bluntly.
"This was a gift from my dad," Karl replied, while checking on his spear. He was cleaning the goo stains from the wolf-tail tassel.
The sword Brand brought with him was given to him when he was drafted for the expedition.
It was mediocre at best.
’I needed to find a way to use my Vibrant Shield.’
He wouldn’t use it now, as he had to hide the fact that he possessed it, in fear that there were enemy mixed in their expedition team.
’Maybe they sent someone to infiltrate this expedition team?’
He remembered there was an old man who was observing and tailing him, back in the tavern.
’Let’s make a chance where I could use the shield without being seen.’
While Brand was fighting against the demon worms with a sword, he started to form a plan.
He would cause a scene, with inspiration from the situation he faced against the Scarab Swarm.
The swarm of beetles charging at him back then also covered the harsh sun in the desert, creating a thick veil.
Brand decided he would try this plan he had made, even if the others might curse him.
’This was the only way to make use of my skills.’ 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Brand grinned mischievously.
’For the perfect sweep.’

The situation of the battle now was a dogfight scenario.
The young warriors were just trying their best to maintain their formation while trading blows with the demon worms.
Those with a tankier build and with defence skills were standing ahead of the other warriors to provide cover.
Especially the Ed brothers.
Ed was tanking hits from the worms with his endurance skills for his brothers’ attack.
Eddy launched a barrage of punches against the worms, and when the worms were getting too close, he would wrestle them, pinning them on the ground and throwing them away, knocking other worms in the path.
Edd, on the other hand, would make use of the space provided to cut down the worms which went for his brother’s vital spot.
Their coordination was impressive; even Brand thought that he might have a hard time if they went after him all at once.
They complemented each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
Ruby recovered and started to release her flame spells with a lower tier. They consumed less mana.
Her flame was an inheritance from her family; it was said her power came from the contract with the spirit of flame.
Though she never revealed which flame spirit it was.
"Fire bolts!"
Multiple fireballs were conjured in the air and flew toward the demon worms. Burning them to a crisp.
"Everyone was working hard!" Seraphine exclaimed.
She was busy making a commentator while flying around. She seemed to be enjoying this.

Although the warriors were making progress, there were still a lot of demon worms left.
Brand charged ahead and slashing every demon worm in his way.
His slashes were shallow, as if they were just brushing against the worms.
There was clearly no significant damage.
The recruited foreign travellers were trying to fend off the demon worms for their lives. When they saw what Brand did, they couldn’t help but complain out loud.
"Cut harder, damn it!" They cursed.
’It was just beginning, why make a fuss?’
Brand did not care about them and just continued to slash the worms to provoke them.
He was trying to draw their aggro.

After a certain amount of time, the demon worms which were going after Brand were growing in numbers.
He also kept on throwing Debuff Cubes into the group of demon worms, lowering their overall stats while pulling the worms to chase after him.
The numbers slowly grew, from 5 to 10, and are still growing.
He checked on the environment.
The Den of Worm, which was dark, shadowy mist, was now crimson in colour and thicker than before.
This was a bad situation for the young warriors, as they could be exposed to ambushes with their lowered vision.
Except for Brand, who has his cyborg eye.
He could still determine how many worms were ahead of him, and he could get a vague position of them, through the silhouette.
Brand used his eyes to check for gaps in the demon worm’s formation.
He would need to look for timing next.
By now, there were more than 20 demon worms chasing after him.
The other warriors looked at him in horror and yelled at him to stop.
"Brand...!" Ruby screamed.
There were now 30 demon worms behind him.
The warriors who were fighting against the worms panicked when Brand ran past them.
This was because the horde of demon worms did not stop, and only rushed, with Brand as the target.
"You were..." Seraphine was hesitant, for the first time.
"I’m pulling a train of demon worms!" Brand said.
He had now accumulated the number of demon worms for his next plan in action.
"What was he doing!" Ed also felt uneasy with the situation.
Brand had accumulated a massive number of aggressive demon worms that went after him.
What if the swarm had lost their focus on Brand and switched to the other warriors instead?
As a fighter tank, he had greater aggro than the other warriors.
He would be the next in line if Brand died!
