All the warriors from the expedition looked at the massive lump of worms with horror.

The collective shrieking sound of the demon worms sent a shiver down their bones.

Around 50 demon worms were now stacking one over another, pressing on Brand in the center.

With the thick horde of demon worms on top of Brand, the other warriors could not see what was happening underneath, which was what Brand was aiming for.

He could now freely use his assets without being seen.

’Let’s go wild’

Brand grinned and unwrapped the Vibrant Shield he carried on his back.

The shield was supposed to shine. However, there was no light to be reflected.

Brand activated his skill, Scarab Shell.

He was now fully armored with a black exoskeleton. If the warriors could see him now, they would say...

"You look like a beetle with a pan." Seraphine teased him.

’No... Whatever...’

Brand had a durable body to begin with, after the body modification by the damn Mechanical Eye.

But now, the Scarab Shell overlaid on him, providing an additional defense for him. Not only that, he could also withstand the weight of the demon worms.

’I could do it.’ Brand hyped himself.

Each demon worm was around 50kg, and with so many demon worms stacked, it felt as though a massive truck was balanced on his chest, smothering him under the relentless weight.

’Beetles could take on 50 times their weight, right?’

Brand held his Vibrant Shield, rooted his position tight, and unleashed his skill.

’Might.’ To increase his strength.

’Debuff Cubes.’ To lower the demon worms’ stat and hinder their movement.

Brand conjured numerous light cubes and spread them out in a wide arc to attach them to the demon worms in front.

He then began to bash the worms with his shield, while occasionally charging up his energy.

Once he had accumulated enough, he retrieved his shield to his side and brought out the mediocre sword.

He started to brandish his sword against the pile of demon worms above him.

A dome of sword slashes was unleashed.

"Sword Art: Phantom Slash."

Brand was now the epicenter of a sword storm, pulling in the demon worms, while also splitting them as they were getting closer to him.

Each demon worm was taken down in about three slashes.

He lost count of how many demon worms he slayed, but he did not need to. He just had to keep on cutting down the demon worms.

He felt exhausted. He could feel he was getting weaker. He could barely support himself now, but he held on.

The faint text appeared in front of him, giving him a glimmer of consolation to persist.

He gave in. Even the mediocre sword had shattered after the continuous barrage against the wall of demon worms.

However, he had his trump card. His unused Stat Points.

In a boss battle, the villain always has a power up. He would be the villain for the demon worms.

"Level 7, 36 additional Stat Points," Seraphine informed him.

"For each stat, every factor of 10 points would have a significant boost to your attributes and abilities."

"There’s a huge difference between 29 and 30, for example." Seraphine hinted.

"Let’s do it then," Brand muttered under his breath, withstanding the immense pressure.

Brand threw away the broken sword with only a fragment of blade on the hilt. He also dropped the shield.

He would go on full kamikaze mode now, to accumulate damage on himself, to build the power of Reverse Strike.

He would now rely on only his body, without any equipment.

He fought against the demon worms, bare-handed, while tanking hits from the worms.

"Not completely bare-handed." Searphine giggled. "You have claws."

She was looking at him proudly, as if she were raising him well. Brand was unaware of her gaze, as he was too focused on the demon worms piling up on him.

The exoskeleton of Brand was hard. Hard enough for him to tear apart the worms.

He thrust his hands into demon worms and ripped them apart.

The demon worm’s maw gnawed into his exoskeleton, but failed to penetrate it. Although he still felt the pressure and momentum hitting him.

Little by little, he felt damage piling up on him.

His shell also started to show signs of cracking.

The good thing was that his strikes were getting stronger.

Each strike he made was a Reverse Strike, which would deal more damage when he got more wounded.

Repeatedly using it would make a significant toll on his body, but he did not save his energy.

He had to thin out the stacked worms as much as he could, or he would get crushed.

He could see that various skills were unleashed on the demon worms from the outside.

There were signs of lightning crackling on the worms, or burnt smells sipped through.

"The others were trying to help you from the outside," Seraphine told him.

"That’s nice of them." Brand muttered.

He would try his best to hold on and take as many worms as possible in the process.

With the additional 4 points of AGI, he now had a stat of 30 STR and 30 AGI.

His attacks were getting faster as well.

Brand stopped using Reverse Strike, saving it for the last blow.
