Ah! The Villains I Forced to Turn Evil Can Read My Mind-Chapter 278
Qiao Chuchu removed her mask and raised an eyebrow at him. "Besides, how is this none of my business? Didn’t you say you wanted to marry me?"
Little Xie, who had been jumping around ready to fight, gasped in delight. "Miss?!"
Ji Yanchuan’s eyes widened. "Qiao Chuchu?"
Qiao Chuchu shook off his hand and turned her gaze to Ji Yanchuan’s bodyguards.
The two bodyguards were sharp. The moment they saw her, they immediately released Little Xie and retreated behind Ji Yanchuan.
Little Xie rushed to her side. "Miss, why are you here?"
Qiao Chuchu answered smoothly, "I was worried the car owner might give you trouble, so I came to back you up. Also, I was afraid you couldn’t afford the damages."
She then gave Ji Yanchuan a meaningful look. "But I didn’t expect to witness the precious moment of Mr. Ji trying to bribe my deputy butler."
Little Xie also shot Ji Yanchuan a resentful glare. "He clearly looks down on you. You’re rich, gorgeous, and have so many admirers—why should you settle for someone like him?"
Flattered, Qiao Chuchu patted her shoulder. "Take your mother to the hospital. I’ll handle things here."
Little Xie hesitated. "But this man—"
Qiao Chuchu cut her off. "Leave him to me. I’ve already covered the damages, so don’t worry."
After a moment of hesitation, Little Xie nodded and helped her mother leave.
Qiao Chuchu turned back to Ji Yanchuan, her gaze as sharp as a blade.
Ji Yanchuan averted his eyes guiltily.
Thanks to the earlier commotion, the already noisy market was now packed with onlookers.
Many were even recording videos.
She put her mask back on, not wanting to be recognized. "Get in my car. We’ll talk there."
Ji Yanchuan frowned and retorted, "Why don’t you get in my car?"
Qiao Chuchu turned and walked away. "Then get lost."
Ji Yanchuan: "..."
He didn’t leave.
Grumbling, he followed Qiao Chuchu to a white G-Class, shooting his bodyguards a look to have them follow in their own car.
Qiao Chuchu started the engine and drove toward the city center. "How much for the damages? Name your price, and I’ll transfer it directly."
Ji Yanchuan buckled his seatbelt. "Do you like G-Classes?"
She kept her tone businesslike. "I’ll pay for the paint job. Let’s stick to the matter at hand."
Ji Yanchuan stared ahead. "Would you like a pure pink G-Class? I can give you one."
Qiao Chuchu: "?"
She finally looked at him properly. "I don’t want anything from you."
Ji Yanchuan finally matched her energy. "You might change your mind. A pure pink G-Class might make your eyes pop."
Qiao Chuchu rolled her eyes. "My fourth brother already gave me a pure pink G-Class for my twentieth birthday. Anything else you want to ask?"
Ji Yanchuan pressed on, deadpan. "What about a pure purple one? Or pure blue? Rainbow? Mermaid pearl?"
He glanced at her red hair. "Or pure red?"
Qiao Chuchu: "..."
This guy’s insane.
A heavy silence filled the car.

Ji Yanchuan, unfazed, turned on her car stereo. "Let’s see what you usually listen to."
Soft music filled the air. He leaned back in the passenger seat, pleasantly surprised. "I like this song too."
Qiao Chuchu ignored him.
He continued, undeterred. "Did you know I’m a great singer? Lin Qing used to beg me to sing for her on her birthdays. People called me the ‘Singing Prince.’ Want me to sing for you?"
Qiao Chuchu: "..."
Ji Yanchuan checked the time. "It’s almost noon. I’m getting hungry, and it’s sweet of you to come find me now. How about we grab lunch?"
He pulled out his phone to make a reservation. "How about barbecue? I know a great place with fresh meat."
Qiao Chuchu tightened her grip on the steering wheel, barely containing her anger. "Do you not understand human language? I let you in my car to talk business, not to eat."
Ji Yanchuan lowered his eyes, a flicker of sadness passing through them.
The bruises from Shen Zhuoyan’s punches still lingered on his face. "You only have a problem with me, don’t you?"
Qiao Chuchu took a deep breath, pulled over, and parked.
"Why do you hate me so much?" Ji Yanchuan remained lost in his own thoughts. "Is it because I’m not a virgin?"
Qiao Chuchu slammed on the brakes, staring at him like he was insane. "Are you out of your mind?!"
Ji Yanchuan didn’t look at her, instead casually smoothing his hair.
His bangs fell back into place as he lazily continued, his tone stubborn. "I just don’t get it. You’re nice to everyone else—why not me? So I looked into all the men you’re close to and found a pattern. They’re all virgins. No dating history, no hotel records with women."
"But I’m not."
His gaze turned icy. "That’s why you hate me, isn’t it?"
Qiao Chuchu gritted her teeth. "You rammed into me during the race, sent people to humiliate me, turned my bodyguards against me, and just now tried to bribe my deputy butler. Out of all that, which part has anything to do with your sex life?!"
Ji Yanchuan only grew more aggrieved. "But I said I wanted to make it up to you! Why won’t you give me a chance? You won’t even talk to me—I had to plant spies! I had no other choice!!"
Qiao Chuchu’s vision blurred with rage. She unbuckled his seatbelt and kicked him out of the car before speeding off.
Ji Yanchuan scrambled to his feet and chased after her. "Qiao Chuchu!"
A car behind him screeched to a halt!
Ji Yanchuan froze—but before he could react, he was sent flying by the impact!
Qiao Chuchu heard the crash but didn’t check the rearview mirror, driving straight back to the Pei residence.
Shen Zhuoyan, who had been waiting by the window, exhaled in relief. "She’s back!"
The others looked outside and relaxed at the sight of her car.
But at that moment, Qiao Chuchu’s phone rang.
An unknown number.
She hung up.
They called again.
She hung up again.
They called back immediately.
Finally, she answered. "Hello?"
Ye Huining’s tearful voice came through. "Do you know my son was in a car accident?! Because he was chasing your car!"
Qiao Chuchu took a moment to process this before replying flatly, "He’s an adult. He’s responsible for his own actions. I didn’t tell him to chase me."
"But he lost his memory! He can’t remember anything now!!" Ye Huining sobbed. "What are we supposed to do?!"
Qiao Chuchu: "? Memory loss?"
Now that she thought about it, there was a memory loss arc in the novel.
Though she had memorized the entire story, she’d skipped over this part—because she hated amnesia tropes. Most of them involved the male lead falling for another woman while the female lead desperately chased after him, heartbroken.
The only thing she remembered was that after the male lead lost his memory, the female lead hit her head and also lost her memory.
Qiao Chuchu: "?"
Wait.
If the male lead loses his memory and the female lead follows…
Doesn’t that mean she’s about to lose her memory too?!
