Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 298-It Is Looking Bad
Iris:
We spent hours checking the arrangements. Markus bought everything and loaded it into the truck, but we kept the jewelry with us.
"Are you okay?" I asked Markus the moment I noticed him stumble, barely holding onto the railing outside the mall’s front stairs.
"Yeah, I guess I’m just a little nervous. And besides, I haven’t eaten anything since morning," he replied, shaking his head and straightening his posture.
"Oh, then we should go home so you can rest," I suggested, walking down the stairs while he followed behind me.
The moment we reached the car, I noticed him stumble again. This time, the driver caught him before he fell.
"Okay, this doesn’t look good. Do you need medicine or anything?" I asked, honestly caring less.
But well, he was Zoe’s husband, so I had to pretend I was concerned.
"If you’re not in a rush, can we please go to a cafe and eat something? I’ll feel fine. I really can’t travel all the way home just to eat," Markus requested.
I looked around, then checked my phone. I went through it and saw that Kash had left me a message.
Husband: Lara is with me. Since you didn’t join, she came instead.
I read the text and looked at Markus.
"Sure, let’s go," I replied sternly.
We got into the car and headed to the nearby cafe Markus mentioned. Weirdly enough, it was on the way to the mansion.
We had barely entered the cafe when I froze at the sight of Kash sitting there with Lara. Everything spiraled from there.
Everyone was watching us.
Then one of the women who had come with her husband looked at him.
"Didn’t you say your wife had something important to do?" she asked, her tone taunting.
"Isn’t he your brother-in-law?" the man beside her commented.
Kash was glaring at me, while Lara looked at me with no emotion on her face. But I could only suspect she was masking a smirk or two.
Kash stood awkwardly still before getting up and walking toward me. Instead of speaking to me directly, he turned to Markus first.
"Take her outside," he whispered, his jaw clenched, showing how angry he was.
"What do you mean by take me out of here?" I demanded, hinting that he could not act as if I were something they owned.
"Iris, let’s not talk about anything here. You’ll be embarrassed," he hissed under his clenched jaw.
I realized he was right. Everyone was watching us.
I turned around and stormed out with Markus. As I neared the car, I saw Markus’s driver hand him a chocolate bar.
"That was awkward," Markus remarked, taking a bite.
I stared back at the cafe and noticed Kash standing inside, holding Lara’s hand. I guessed they were leaving too.
"Let’s go," I told Markus, because I wanted to reach the daycare and get my children.
But when we sat in the car, I checked the time and realized it was late. My children must have been waiting for me.
"Oh shit," I muttered, not understanding how that happened. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Come on, Markus, we need to go," I urged, slipping into the car more anxiously than ever.
He joined me, but he seemed to lack the urgency.
When we arrived at the daycare, I was told that the Alpha King had sent his warriors to pick up his children with Zoe.
Halfway there, Markus complained that he was not feeling well and needed to go to the hospital. He took off, and I went home alone.
Everyone was waiting for me in the living room. My children were eating with Zoe.
The moment I stepped into the mansion, I felt eyes on me.
Of course, I had not brought the jewelry bags inside. Markus had already taken them from me because he did not want anyone to see what was inside.
"Go to the room," Kash ordered, pointing toward it.
I took a deep breath, then made eye contact with everyone, including Lady Vivian, Lara, and Zoe. Zoe looked away and did not hold my gaze.
"Why would I go into my room? Why am I being treated as if I did something wrong?" I asked.
The moment I spoke, Kash clenched his jaw.
"You had important work. Your important work was to..." He paused and turned his head toward his sister. He bit his tongue for her sake.
"I... I’m sorry if any of you felt like I betrayed you," I began, searching for words. "I ran into Markus at the mall, and we decided to go to a cafe because he wasn’t feeling well. But you should also remember that we live in the same house. We are all friendly here."
I was trying to come up with an excuse to protect the surprise. It was right around the corner. In fact, it was the very next day.
I did not want to ruin everything before then.
I knew I was possibly risking everything, but things were going to change. Once we surprised Zoe, even Kash would regret this.
That was what Markus had told me in the car. And I was choosing to believe it for now.
"Iris, are you even listening to yourself?" Kash hissed, striding toward me so quickly that I was shocked by the amount of anger he showed.
"You didn’t join me. Instead, you left our children at daycare to go shopping."
He was clenching his jaw so hard that everyone fell silent. No one made a single comment, not even his mother, who would usually say something at a time like this.
"Then don’t act like your entire plan was ruined because you were there. You chose to go. You decided to go with Lara. It’s not like you were at a loss," I taunted.
My words made Kash close his eyes and run a hand through his hair. He held the back of his neck and turned away, trying to take slow, steady breaths.
"I cannot believe you are comparing his wife to you going out with your brother-in-law," Lady Vivian finally snapped.
I turned to glare at her, a silent reminder not to interfere. But I noticed Kash was not stopping her this time.
