Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 139 Two Troublemakers
The zipper of the suitcase opened automatically, and the subtle "whoosh" sound was like a mysterious signal, instantly capturing everyone’s attention. Everyone’s eyes were locked on the box, and the tension seemed to have frozen in place.
Marx and Carl’s eyes were fixed on the gap in the suitcase, and they prepared to attack at any moment. However, when a round head popped out of the suitcase, Dolly and Emily let out noises almost simultaneously.
"Maggie?"
A second little head peeked out of the crack in the suitcase, and Emily’s eyes immediately widened.
"Mina?"
Marx retracted his wolf paws and stared incredulously at the two girls hiding in their suitcases.
"Princesses, why are you here?"
"Princess?" Carl looked shocked.
"Marx, come and get me out of this darn box," Maggie ordered Marx. "I’m suffocating."
Marx shook his head helplessly and walked over to lift Maggie out of the suitcase, while Mina climbed out on her own.
The two princesses had unkempt hair, and the fluffy skirts they wore were wrinkled from hiding in their suitcases for so long. As soon as they saw Dolly, they rushed to her side and hugged her, calling her by name, "Dolly, Dolly."
"Why are you hiding in your suitcases?" Emily asked.
She couldn’t believe that these two troublemakers would follow them to the border in such a manner, and she had to find a way to send them back.
"Oh, Emily, you’re sounding more and more like Klaus," Mina glared at Emily, dissatisfied. "I don’t want to talk to you."
"We’re not going to tell you how we climbed into the suitcase and got here," Maggie also mimicked her sister’s tone.
"Marx, go check what time the next flight to the capital is," Emily instructed Marx. "You stay here to keep an eye on Mina and Maggie until they board the plane, and let Carl take us back to the pack first."
"Yes, Luna." Marx turned to the two princesses and said, "Princesses, please come with me."
"No, no," Mina protested. "We’re not going back with you."
"If you send us back, I’ll tell Mom that you stuffed us in suitcases and brought us here," Maggie threatened Emily, her green eyes revealing a hint of mischief.
"What do you want?" Emily asked.
"We’re going to go with you guys to that Green Forest Pack. Until the end of our vacation," Mina stated.
"We’re going to have Dolly play with us," Maggie added.
"Impossible," Emily flatly refused their request. "You must go back to the capital, and I’ll call Klaus now."
"No!" Mina screamed. "You can’t call Klaus."
"Take it easy, as long as you go home now, I won’t let him punish you for picking mushrooms." Emily pulled out her phone to call Klaus, but Maggie snatched it first.
"Give me back my phone, Maggie," Emily said sternly.
"Nope." Maggie quickly ran to the side with the phone and was using Emily’s phone to call someone as she ran.
Emily stood still; she wasn’t going to chase Maggie, because she knew Maggie would obediently come back in a moment. She told Marx to carry the rest of her luggage to the car, and after a while, Maggie came up to Emily.
"My mom wants to talk to you." Maggie handed the phone to Emily.
Emily took the call, "This is Emily."
"Emily." Queen Mary’s languid voice came from the other end of the phone, "I heard you stuffed my two precious daughters into suitcases and took them to the border, right?"
"Your Highness, you should know that this is not true," Emily said in a calm tone. "It’s a fact. Your two daughters sneaked into their suitcases and followed our plane to the border."
"I don’t care. Now that they’re with you, you have to keep them safe."
"I’ll have them take the next flight back to the capital."
"No, don’t let them come back and bother me. Just let them stay with you until the end of the holiday."
"Your Highness, I’m afraid I don’t have much time to take care of them, because I’m here to deal with the pack merger." Emily explained, "I think..."
"It’s an order," Queen Mary said in a tough tone. "In addition, the treasurer who is responsible for approving the border living supplies is my relative. Do you understand what I mean?"
"Yes, Your Highness."
After Emily hung up, she cursed silently in her heart. Then she said to Marx, "The princesses will come with us to the Green Forest pack."
"Yes." Mina and Maggie jumped excitedly.
Then Emily told Dolly, "Dolly, you’re in charge of looking after them."
Dolly nodded.
Then they got in the car together and headed to the Green Forest, where the two princesses chatted and talked to Dolly along the way, feeling like two birds out of their cage and curious about everything around them.
An hour later, they finally arrived at the Green Forest Pack, and Carl drove the car directly to the Alpha’s residence. It was a dark gray villa.
"Luna, we’re here," Carl got out of the car and pulled the door open for Emily, respectfully saying, "This is the residence of the former Alpha."
"Are we going to live here?" Mina looked curiously at the house in front of her. "This house looks shabby."
"Why isn’t there a maid to greet us?" Maggie asked.
Carl explained, "Alpha Andrew is a frugal man. He only hired one servant, but she’s taken a leave of absence these days. Let me take you inside."
They then followed Carl to the house. Carl stopped in front of the door and expertly pressed the code on the lock. The sound of the lock unlocking was clear in the silence. With a soft "click," the door slowly opened, and at that moment, a damp smell hit their noses like a raging tide.
They cautiously walked into the house, which was dim and gloomy because the lights were not turned on. A faint light filtered in through the windows, barely illuminating a small area, leaving the rest in deep darkness.
Carl showed Emily around the house and explained the purpose of each room. The villa had three floors: the first floor was the dining room and reception room, the second floor was the owner’s living room and study, and the third floor had a room belonging to the servant, with the rest being guest rooms.
Miss Susan had moved from her original room to the guest room and now lived in the room at the end of the hallway. Carl whispered to Emily, "Ever since her father died, she’s always locked herself in her room."
"Is she in the room now?" Emily asked.
"I think she should be," Carl replied.
Emily knocked on Susan’s door, "Hey, Susan, it’s Luna Emily. Can I talk to you?"
After a long time, the door of the room didn’t open. Emily glanced down at the crack in the door; it was pitch black.
"Maybe she’s gone out for a walk, and I’ll have her come see you when I see her," Carl said. "There’s no maid cooking today, so I’ll take you to the Pack’s restaurant and let you get acquainted with the Pack’s environment."
Emily nodded, and after they moved their bags into the room, Carl led them to a restaurant in the pack.
In the evening, Emily and Marx were in the study discussing the merger of packs. During the day, Carl had already gathered the working papers of her predecessor, Alpha, and handed them to Emily. After reading them, she felt there were some problems, so she needed to consult Marx.
"The economic source of this pack mainly relies on coal mining, but in the past two years, coal resources have become scarce, resulting in the pack’s economy declining. And there’s no extra shelter here, so how are we going to accommodate those 80 people?"
Those eighty members would arrive in the pack in three days, and she had to figure out a way to accommodate them before they arrived.
"You can arrange for them to stay in a hotel for the time being. Then we’ll require vacant buildings for renovation. I found that there’s an abandoned school in the pack that would be just right for a home."
"It takes money to renovate housing," Emily frowned. "But there’s not much money left in the pack’s public account."
It seemed she had made the right decision to sell her jewelry, and if she really wanted to renovate the building, she would have to use her private money.
Just then, screams could be heard outside the room, and Emily immediately put down the papers in her hand, got up, and pushed open the door to check what had happened.
