Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 185 Who is he?
The West, The Palace
Emily awoke in the middle of the night, this time with another blank dream. She was frustrated because her dreams were as blank as her memories.
Slowly she rose and made her way to the veranda, and then sat down in a chair. The cool night air was enveloped in a light, damp mist, and the dampness swept over Emily’s body, covering her cheeks and hair in a thin film of mist.
The western sky was gray and dry during the day, with the sun always blocked by thick overcast clouds that prevented it from penetrating, and the sweltering heat was evident in the midday when the temperature soared, and in the evenings when the temperature plummeted, sometimes even raining in the middle of the night.
She doesn’t like the changeable weather any more than she likes being here. The old palace always seemed gloomy because of the short time it had seen the light.
Sometimes it seemed to Emily that Elijah was as gloomy and strange to her as the palace. Elijah had not visited her since she had first wakened and seen him. He had asked the royal steward to send her a message at once, and the steward had told Emily that Elijah was too busy fighting the rebels in his own country to return for some time.
" The king said he would come back to see you as soon as the war was over." The old butler said to Emily, "Besides, the king wants you to stay in the palace and not go anywhere."
The grave tone of the old steward’s voice sounded more like a warning to Emily. It seemed that her betrothed only wished her to remain at the palace if she wandered off.
Emily wondered what would happen if she disobeyed Elijah. Would he punish her? It seemed that every one about her was afraid of Elijah, and when they spoke of their king, it was always with a look of respect and fear.
One day Emily did not eat breakfast, and one of her maids was frightened. She kept trying to persuade Emily to eat, and at first Emily resisted obstinately, for she had no appetite that day. It was only when the maid had to go down on her knees for her that she had to compromise.
"Miss Emily, please don’t give us a hard time. " The maid prayed, "If the king knew that you hadn’t eaten, he would think it was my dereliction of duty. The king will surely punish me."
"How would he punish you? " Emily asked.
The maid stammered, not daring to speak, but the look of fear on her face told Emily that Elijah’s punishment would be cruel. Emily asked no more questions, but silently took her fork and managed to finish her meal.
Every few days the maid brought Emily some new clothes: a white blouse, a white jacket, a white skirt, white trousers, a white silk scarf, all white.
Elijah was not only a tyrannical king, but also a tyrannical betrothed.
Had Elijah done this to her before,Emily wondered, her mind full of questions as to where she came from, who her parents were, and if she had any other family.
Emily tentatively asked the maids around her questions about her life, but they all shook their heads, and none of them could give her the answers she wanted.
All her questions were answered by Elijah, who was the only one who knew.
Emily looked up at the only star that shone in the night sky, and she gazed at it for a long, long time.
Suddenly an illusory figure appeared in her mind, crept into her thoughts without warning. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The illusory image was like a mysterious presence behind a thin veil, permeated with an impalpable aura. His face was blurred, as if it were enveloped in a thick fog. No matter how hard she tried to gaze and remember, she could not see the real face hidden under the mist.
Who in the world was he?

The West, the Border
Dolly was running wild in the rain. The rain had come on suddenly, and was growing heavier, and she had to find a place to hide from it as soon as possible.
A few days before, Dolly had sneaked into the West from the northern frontier. Dolly had chosen to cross the rugged mountains so that she would not be seen by the guards who patrolled the western frontier. Fortunately, Susan had given her a map of the western frontier before she started, so that she could not get lost by following the lines on the map.
Once Dolly travels across the Galaxy Pack and reaches a village on the border with the Galaxy Pack, she is met by a Southern spy.
The water was already below her ankles, and Dolly saw that the road in front of her had been covered by the rain and turned into a pool, so she decided to stop first.
Dolly looked about her; there was not a single house in the neighborhood, and it was all barren hillside. Where should she go to hide from the rain?
Suddenly she chanced to see a cave in a low hill not far away. So she made up her mind to go to the cave and hide from the rain.
She quickened her pace and ran as hard as she could toward the hill. When Dolly finally reached the cave, she was soaked to the skin. She was surprised to find a pile of unburned wood in the cave. The firewood was piled in a corner of the cave, and the dark red coals of the fire still glimmered faintly, emitting a feeble heat.
Could it be that some one had been here some time ago, Dolly thought to herself, as she looked curiously about the cave. There were a few pelts and bones left by the fire, and a worn and twisted iron bucket filled with fresh water.
She sniffed about her, and the lingering androgynous odor in the air told her that the owner of the cave had just left.
Perhaps it was the temporary home of one of the Rogue people, and Dolly knew that under normal circumstances the Rogue people did not like to have their territory invaded by strangers. Dolly knew that the Rogue people did not like their territory invaded by strangers, and she waited for the return of the owner before she explained the situation to him.
Dolly took off her soggy coat and took a lighter from her knapsack to re-light the wood. At that moment she thought she heard an extremely faint sound of breathing in the depths of the cave. So Dolly put down the knapsack she had been carrying, and walked slowly in the direction of the sound.
The more she walked into the interior of the cave, the dimmer the light became. She laid her hand on the wall of the cave, and listened with her ear for the sound of breathing, which she was sure was just before her.
Just as Dolly was about to move on, a sudden gust of wind came to her ears, sounding like a shrill whistle, and cutting instantly through the still air. Before she had time to make any reaction, a figure like a ghost swooped down on her from behind and threw her to the ground.
Dolly only felt the sky spin and her body slam heavily into the ground, sending up a cloud of dust. The man was holding Dolly by the neck with his sharp wolf paws, which were cold and hard, as if he would cut off her neck.
He pressed down upon her with his whole body, and Dolly could distinctly feel the weight of his body, like a boulder, and it made her almost breathless.
As they locked eyes, there was an unexpected look of shock in the man’s otherwise fierce gaze. His eyes widened a little, and there was a gleam of alarm and surprise in them, as if he had seen something quite beyond his imagination. For an instant, time seemed to freeze.
It was only when Dolly saw the tattoo on the man’s neck, stained with sludge, that she reacted.
" Mark!" Dolly exclaimed.
