Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 186 He’s Alive
"Dolly." Marx slowly let go of his hand, his voice trembling a little, " How did you get here?"
" You’re not dead." Dolly touched Marx’s cheek with her hand and felt the warmth of his face. She looked him up and down, as if to assure herself that the man before her was not a phantom. " The news said that you lost the war and that every man in the army led by Klaus died on the battlefield."
Marx sat down disheveled as he let out a long sigh, " We did lose the war."
" What about Klaus? Is he dead too?" Dolly asked nervously.
" Klaus." Marx’s eyes looked helplessly into the depths of the cave, " He’s right there."
Dolly followed Marx’s gaze and saw a man lying on the ground with hay covering his whole body. Dolly carefully removed the hay from the man’s body, and she saw Klaus’s face.
Klaus lay motionless, his torn clothes stained with curdled blood and his bare arms marked with distinct burns. Klaus’s breathing was extremely faint, as if he were already dead, and he did not respond at all, no matter how many times he was called. Klaus’ face was covered with hay, and she saw a man lying on the ground.
" What happened to Klaus?" Dolly’s eyes were full of anxiety, and she stared at Klaus’s lifeless form as if waiting for him to respond.
"He was badly injured. He was already so when I found him in the field. " Marx’s head hung low, his tone filled with remorse, "I should have known I should have let Klaus retreat with us."
"Marx, what exactly happened on the battlefield? " Dolly asked, "Were you really defeated by the Western Army?"
" It wasn’t really the wolves that defeated us. " A flicker of fear flashed in Marx’s eyes, and that fear blew through his eyes like an icy cold wind, making them instantly dim. He trembled his lips slightly, as if the memory of the horrific scenes on the battlefield made his soul tremble," They were the undead."
"What does that mean? " Dolly heard the word undead for the first time.
"It’s magic." Marx explained with difficulty, " Elijah, the Wolf King of the West, used magic to defeat us." His hands clenched involuntarily, and the veins on the backs of his hands bulged as if he were smothering the fear and anger within. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
" Magic?" Dolly was incredulous, and her eyes were wide with astonishment. "What kind of magic can wipe out an army?"
"It’s black magic. " Marx clenched his fist and slammed it against the wall of the cave, "The Western Army deliberately lured us into the canyon and then joined forces with Dyson’s army to attack us back and forth. Damn Dyson, I swear I will kill him."
" Dyson, it’s him again. "As soon as Dyson’s name was mentioned, Dolly’s heart immediately lit up with flames of anger. Not only did that cursed Dyson hurt Klaus, he took Emily with him.
Dolly cursed under her breath as a cold wind blew and made her sneeze. So Marx asked with concern, " Do you have a cold?"
" I just got caught in the rain, I might have caught a cold." Dolly sniffed, her voice a trifle hoarse. She rubbed her nose with her hand, and felt a little chill.
" Let’s go outside and I’ll dry your clothes." Marx said, getting up and heading out of the cave.
Dolly followed Marx, and they sat down by the fire. Paul picked up a few sticks from the ground and tied them together with strings to make a tripod, on which he placed Dolly’s wet coat to dry.
Dolly noticed a dead gray hare on the ground. " Did you go hunting?" Dolly asks.
Marx nodded, " I usually cover Klaus’ body with hay when I go out hunting in case another animal comes in and bites him."
He then deftly skinned the rabbit before sticking a sharp twig through its body and placing it over the fire.
"You still haven’t told me how you got here? " Marx asked as he flipped the rabbit over to the other side to continue roasting.
"Dyson snuck up on our pack and we got separated from Emily on the way out. " Dolly’s eyes stared at the leaping flames as the harrowing memory resurfaced in her mind. " Then I found out from Dyson’s mistress that after Emily was captured by Dyson, he turned Emily over to the Wolf King’s men in the West."
" So you’re going to the West to find Emily?" asked Marx. The firelight fell upon his face, and Dolly saw a hint of complexity rise in his eyes.
" Yes, I have to find Emily."
Marx was silent as he turned the rabbit in silence until it smelled good and then he handed it to Dolly." Eat. " Marx said.
"Aren’t you going to eat it? " Dolly took the rabbit, she didn’t eat it.
"You eat first, I’ll go hunting when the rain stops. " Marx said calmly.
"We’ll split it in half. " Dolly said as she tore the rabbit in half and handed one half to Marx, "If you don’t eat it, I won’t eat it either."
So Marx had to take half of the rabbit, and he tore off a piece and chewed it in his mouth. It was still raining outside, and the rainwater that drifted into the cave formed a thin stream that flowed into the cave.
The unexpected encounter did not excite them much, and they remained for a long time in silence, as if each had something on his mind.
" Are they very effective?" Dolly asked in a small voice, " Those undead warriors."
Marx stopped chewing." Those Western undead warriors can return from the dead. They are even more powerful than normal werewolves. We cannot beat them by any means whatever. " Marx’s eyes instantly turned bleak, every word he said was filled with pain and helplessness.
"Klaus never woke up?"
Marx shook his head, " He’s been in a coma and I’ve tried many ways to wake him up. Now Klaus is getting weaker and weaker."
Dolly listened with a frown on her face, " Klaus must be treated by a doctor or he will die."
"There are no hospitals around here. Besides, the locals won’t treat Northerners, they’ll just hand us over to the local Alpha," Marx said.
Dolly thought for a moment, "Maybe I can contact Susan, she should have a way to help you guys."
" Really?" Marx’s eyes twinkled with a hint of anticipation.
" I’ll try." Dolly said, pulling out her cell phone from her backpack. She immediately called Susan’s number.
Due to poor reception in the rain, it took Dolly a long time to get through to Susan. Susan is shocked to learn that Klaus is still alive, so she tells Dolly that she has to tell her uncle first.
Half an hour later Susan called, and she told Dolly of her uncle’s rescue plan.
" The leader of the Purple Star Army has asked a local intermediary to meet with you." Dolly said, " I’ve sent Susan the location of the place and they’ll be coming for you soon."
"Aren’t you coming back north with us? " Marx asked.
Dolly shook her head, " I’m going to keep going when the rain stops, I’m not going to change my plans."
Marx looked out into the rain, which had begun to abate, and his face betrayed a hint of melancholy at the prospect of parting. After a while, he said to Dolly, " Dolly, if you find Emily, remember to tell me. Because once Klaus wakes up, he’ll want to know where Emily is more than anyone."
Dolly looked down, and was silent for a moment. She just says, "I wish I could find her."
She would not tell Marx that Adam had given her orders to bring Emily back to the South as soon as she was found.
" We are no longer in the Confederacy with the North. Emily belongs to the South, bring her back to the South as soon as you find her." Adam’s words echoed in Dolly’s ears, and she looked at the ignorant Max and said no more.
