Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 199 The Pool of Blood.
Emily said to the old housekeeper, "I want this woman to be my maid, so that I can’train’her every day."
She deliberately emphasized the word "train", and the wise old butler quickly understood what Emily meant. He replied respectfully, "She’s yours."
"Now you can go." Emily said to the butler, "I can walk back by myself."
After Emily dismissed the old butler, she whispered to Dolly, " Walk with me."
Dolly walked silently by Emily’s side as they followed the palace path. After a long silence, Emily suddenly spoke, " Am I being silly?"
" No." Dolly replied, "You’ve never been a silly girl."
Emily walked to the fountain in the garden and stopped in her tracks. " So what kind of person am I?" Emily looked down at herself in the pool of the fountain, and her face was suddenly unfamiliar to her.
Emily has lost her memory, and who she really is. Now she had to go through someone else’s mouth to get back to the old her.
"You’re a strong, unyielding, smart girl. "Dolly said, "You love life, you aspire to be free, and you won’t give in to any hardship. You are one of a kind."
"But I can’t get the old me back. " Emily’s tone was full of bitterness. She was now like a canary in a cage. She had become irresolute, and had lost the power to strike back.
Emily lifted her hand, her eyes fixed on the ruby ring on her ring finger, which Elijah had told her symbolized his passionate and eternal love for her.
Lies, all lies.
She was with a demon, and she was even pregnant with the demon’s baby.
No, she must not have the baby with such a father. For Elijah would have turned the baby into a fiend like himself.
It was drizzling, and Emily tilted her head back to let the cold rain fall on her face in a moment of clarity.
She decided to get out of this hellhole.
"When are we leaving? " Emily asked.
"I’ll let you know exactly when after I contact my partner out there. " Dolly whispered.
Emily wiped the rain from her face with her hand. She did not notice the passing of a gray shadow. She turned her head and stared at the gray shadow. The man’s hunched figure stood out in the drizzle.
It was a strange "doctor".
At that moment Emily remembered what Haley had told her, that there was a dark wizard at Elijah’s side, and that his name was Grimm. Yes, that’s the name.
So the so-called "doctor" was the dark wizard. Suddenly, a thought came to her: Was her memory loss connected to the Dark Wizard?
"Emily, what are you thinking? " Dolly asked softly.
"I probably didn’t lose my memory due to the fever. " Emily frowned," maybe it was magic."
" Magic?" Dolly asked in surprise, " Did someone use magic to erase your memory?"
"Follow that man." Emily looked at the gray back that was about to disappear. She quickened her pace and followed. " Maybe he can give me the answers I want."
Emily and Dolly followed the man carefully as they made their way around the main body of the castle to the rear of it.
Here the light was even dimmer, and the silence about them was somewhat appalling, save for the grey figure of the wizard looming before them. Suddenly the wizard stopped before a plain-looking wall.
The sorcerer fumbled with the wall for a moment, and then a stone door, almost blending into the surrounding wall, slowly opened, and the sorcerer stepped in with a flash.
"You wait for me outside. " Emily whispered to Dolly, "I’ll go in by myself."
"That’s too dangerous." Dolly said, "Let me go in with you."
" No. It’s too easy for two people to go in at the same time." Emily said, " I’ll go in first and check things out. If I’m not out in twenty minutes, you get the guards."
" Ok."
Emily waited a moment to make sure there was no one else about, and then stole quietly to the stone door. She drew a long breath and stepped into the unknown darkness.
The passage behind the door is narrow and steep, and the walls smell musty; Emily clung to the wall as she slowly descended, the stone steps being a little slippery under her feet, and she had to be very careful not to make any noise with each step. The lower she went, the colder it grew, and the cold seemed to penetrate to her very bones and make her shiver.
After an unknown amount of time, Emily at last reached the end of the passage, where there was another door. Emily gently pushed open the door and looked in.
A putrid smell, mingled with blood, reached her nose. The smell was pungent and unpleasant. Emily involuntarily put her hand to her nose. She pushed the door open a little wider, and then she saw that in the centre of the dimly lighted room was a great sacrificial platform. The altar was of black boulders, carved with strange and twisted runes, and faintly glowing with a dark red light, as if telling an old and evil story.
Around the sacrificial platform was a pool of blood. The liquid in the pool was viscous and turbid, and of a sickly crimson colour. The surface of the pool occasionally puffed up with a few bubbles, and when it burst it gave off an even stronger scent of blood, like the breath of a demon in a pool of blood. Emily felt her stomach turn, but she could not take her eyes off the horror of the scene.
Scattered about the pool of blood were white bones, some broken, some still in human form, as if silently accusing the cruel atrocity that had taken place here. On one side of the sacrificial platform were a few rusty daggers, the dried blood on their blades showing the sin with which they had been stained.
The bloody scene before her shook Emily’s heart. So what Haley says is true.
" You shouldn’t be here." A rasping sound came from behind Emily, and she turned to see the ugly wizard standing behind her.
" If you and Elijah were killing innocent people for a sacrifice?" Emily questioned the sorcerer.
The sorcerer sneered, "You have no right to question me."
"Did you make me lose my memory?" Emily looked at the sorcerer angrily, "Tell me."
" I was only following the king’s orders." The sorcerer’s tone was calm, then his eyes fell on Emily’s belly, " Are you pregnant?"
He reached out to touch Emily’s belly but Emily stopped him, "Don’t touch me." Emily stepped back.
" I can feel the baby is strong." There was an eerie light in the wizard’s eyes, which danced like ghostly flames in his deep-set sockets.
" He has strong werewolf blood." The wizard’s gaze was fixed on the small of Emily’s back as on a rare treasure. The corners of his mouth lifted a little in a wry smile.
"What do you want? " The sorcerer’s eyes were like a million snakes traveling over Emily and she felt fear, "If you hurt me, Elijah will not let you go."
Emily tries to use Elijah as a deterrent to the sorcerer, but he says dismissively, "I’m sure Elijah doesn’t care about the baby."
The sorcerer’s tone was full of confidence, and his eyes gleamed with disdain, as if he knew Elijah’s thoughts. He took another step forward, and the putrid stench of his body smote Emily with a force that almost made her gag.
In the next second the wizard had Emily by the wrist with all his might. His hands, like cold chains, tightened about her, so that she could not free herself.
The sorcerer brought his lips close to Emily’s ear, and his voice was like a demon’s whisper, "I’m sure Elijah would be happy to sacrifice the baby in your womb to the God of Darkness."
