Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 201 Escape
Emily and Dolly are curled up in the trunk of a grocery delivery van as it takes them away from the palace and slowly drives down the road.
It was a long time before the van stopped. Suddenly the trunk lid was opened, and a moonbeam poured in. "Hey." A short-haired woman in a black leather jacket greeted Emily and Dolly with a distinctive swagger in her voice. She stood there, her black leather jacket glistening slightly in the moonlight.
"Girls, you’re safe. Now, come on out." The woman said,
Emily and Dolly climbed out of the trunk, then Dolly introduced the woman to Emily, "This is Tracy, one of the leaders of the Southern Spy Organization."
"You must be Emily. " Tracy shook Emily’s hand, "I’m Tracy, I’ll be arranging for you to leave the country."
" Thank you." Emily saw some strangers standing behind Tracy, and she gave them a curious look.
" They are all members of the organization." Tracy explained, " We all work for Prince Adam, and it was Prince Adam who ordered your rescue."
Emily knew Prince Adam, the man whom Dolly had mentioned to her. It seemed as if the man had been quietly protecting her, but she was still uncertain as to the real nature of her relationship with Prince Adam.
" The van responsible for getting you out of the country is five minutes away." Tracy’s words interrupted Emily’s thoughts as she pulled out two sets of blue clothes from the trunk of another car and handed them to Emily and Dolly, " Change into these."
Emily picked them up and saw that they had a company logo on them, and then she quickly put them on.
" This backpack has food and first aid supplies in it." Tracy tossed a gray backpack to Dolly, " and two new ID cards. It takes about six hours to reach the border from here. When you leave the country you will be met on the other side. Right now your identities are as employees of Charles Import and Export, remember?"
Soon, a van slowly approached them from the front. The van’s headlamps shot out two bright lights in the darkness, like two giant eyes, illuminating the road ahead.
The van pulled up next to them and the driver with the blue hat poked his head out the window and greeted Tracy." Get in, girls. " Tracy said to the girls.
"You’re not leaving with us?" Emily asked curiously.
Tracy shook her head, " We have another mission to perform and can’t leave the West for a while."
" Bye." Emily said.
Tracy waved goodbye to Emily and Dolly. The van started and the engine rumbled low. It shuddered a little, and began to move slowly forward.
Emily and Dolly sat in the van as the landscape began to recede around them, and the night wind blew in through the windows and mussed their hair.
" You can take a nap." Dolly said softly to Emily, " I’ll wake you up when we get to the border."
Emily nodded her head as she laid her hand on the small of her back and slowly closed her eyes.
In the world of dreams, everything around her became unreal. Emily found herself in a mist, and the air about her was moist and mysterious.
Not far away a dim figure loomed, and Emily tried to draw nearer, but her legs felt as heavy as lead. She tried to open her eyes wide, to see the face, but the mist seemed to live and linger about the figure.
Suddenly the scene shifted, and she saw Elijah, his face distorted as in a dream, and his eyes so tender and so cold that Emily’s heart fluttered. Elijah held out his hand to her, and seemed to be saying something, but Emily could not hear a word. She flees subconsciously, but Elijah pursues her.
Emily made a desperate effort to escape. Suddenly the scene around her changed again, and Emily saw that she was in a magnificent palace, surrounded by a lively ball, with people dancing in rich costumes. But the faces of all those people were blurred, and she was the only one who seemed to be cut off from the bustle.
The indistinct figure appeared again, this time standing in the centre of the ball, surrounded by those who had swirled around him, but looking straight at Emily. Emily tried to rush forward, but she was jostled by the crowd. Her heart was full of anxiety, and she longed to know who that man was, and what he had to do with her.
The screen flickered again, and she was back in the mist, with strange sounds echoing around her, like whispers and cries. The shadowy man drew a little nearer to her, and Emily could almost feel his breath. She reached out to touch his face, and was about to do so with her fingertips, when a sharp pain shot through her head, as if something were striking her memory.
" Emily, Emily." Dolly’s voice brought Emily back from her dreamland.
Emily opened her eyes just as there was a gleam of dawn in the sky outside. That dawning light cut like a sharp sword through the darkness of the night, and tinged the sky with a faint white.
"We’re in the south. " Dolly said.
" Really?" Emily was a little startled. She had not expected to come out of the West so well.
" Let’s get out of the car." Dolly said as she unbuckled the car seat from her body and pushed the door open to get out.
As Emily stepped out of the van, the early morning sun splashed her slightly tired face. She saw two black cars parked silently by the side of the road, and a few black-uniformed Alpha warriors standing pensively beside them. They all wore badges with the same design on their chests: a star, the moon and a white wolf.
At that moment, a man in a white shirt stepped out of a black car. His white shirt was clean and neat, without a wrinkle, and the pristine white stood out against the black.
A look of incredulity came into the man’s eyes as they rested on Emily. It was the look of a traveller searching for water in the desert, surprised at the sudden sight of an oasis, but with a hint of incredulity.
The man’s eyes were fixed on Emily, and then he walked quickly toward her. His gaze grew mild and gentle as he advanced toward Emily.
"Emily, this is Prince Adam." Dolly said.
"Emily, welcome back." Prince Adam’s voice sounded soft and kindly.
" Thank you for your help, Prince Adam." Emily’s eyes were a little bewildered. She guessed that she and Prince Adam ought to have had some special relationship before, but she was not sure what it was.
" You’re welcome, Emily." Prince Adam said. His gaze never left Emily’s eyes. "That’s my responsibility."
" Do we know each other?" Emily asked tentatively.
Prince Adam smiled slightly, "Of course. You’re my sister."
"I..." Emily looked at Prince Adam in amazement, her lips quivering a little, her eyes agape. She turned her head back toward Dolly, as if looking for an answer.
"Yes. Adam is your brother." Dolly said. She looked at Emily with earnestness in her eyes. "Adam told me the secret before I went north. That’s why he asked me to protect you in secret."
" Are you really my brother?" Emily could not believe it; her voice trembled a little; her mind was in a whirl, and a thousand thoughts were interwoven in it.
" Yes." Prince Adam said. He looked at Emily with love and compassion in his eyes. "I’ll explain this to you later. Now let me take you home, ok?" Prince Adam held out his hand, as if to offer Emily his most cordial invitation.
Emily froze for a moment as she looked at Prince Adam’s outstretched hand, then slowly nodded her head.
